THE ORDER OF MASSThis colors for the Mass of All Saints is White.

Stand when Father enters the Sanctuary with the servers, then kneel.

PRAYERS AT THE FOOT OF THE ALTAR.The priest crosses himself and says aloud (V.) and the servers respond (R.)

The Celebrant ascends the Altar, reciting silently:

Aufer a nobis, quæsumus, Dómine,iniquitátes nostras: ut ad Sancta sanctórumpuris mereámur méntibus introíre. PerChristum Dóminum nostrum. Amen.

Take away from us our iniquities, we beseechThee, O Lord, that we may be worthy to enterwith pure minds into the Holy of Holies.Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Celebrant bows down to kiss the Altar-stone containing the Relics.

Orámus te, Dómine, per mérita Sanctórumtuórum, quórum relíquiæ hic sunt, etómnium Sanctórum: ut indúlgere dignérisómnia peccáta mea. Amen.

We beseech Thee, O Lord, by the merits ofThy Saints whose relics lie here, and of allthe Saints, deign in Thy mercy to pardonme all my sins. Amen.

He blesses the incense, then he incenses the Crucifix, Relics, and Altar.

Ab illo beneadicáris in cuius honórecremáberis.

Thou art blessed a by Him, in whosehonor, thou shalt burn.

The Celebrant goes to the Epistle side where he is incensed by the Master of Ceremonies. Heturns toward the Altar Missal, makes the sign of the cross and recites both the Introit and

the Kýrie, which the Schola had begun singing during the “Prayers at the Foot of the Altar”.

THE INTROIT

Gaudeámus + omnes in Dómino, diemfestum celebrántes sub honóre

THE GLÓRIA IN EXCÉLSISAt the emphasized words, the Celebrant, Servers, and the Congregation bow to the Cross;when seated, the Priest removes his Biretta. The Master of Ceremonies turns to the Cross

and bows; the Congregation and other Servers bow their head in place. He sings:

Glória in excélsis Deo, (and the chant istaken up by the choir while he

continues in a low voice) et in terra paxhomínibus bonæ voluntátis. Laudámus te.Benedícimus te. Adorámus te.Glorificámus te. Grátias ágimus tibipropter magnam glóriam tuam. INCENSING OF THE OFFERINGS AT HIGH MASSHe blesses incense, saying:

He returns the Thurible to the Master of Ceremonies, saying:

Bowing low over the altar he says:

The Celebrant makes the sign of the cross thrice over the chalice with the sacred Host, and twicebetween the chalice and himself, then raises the Host and the chalice slightly, saying meanwhile:

Spíritus a Sancti, omnis honor et glória.

Through a Him, and with a Him, and in a Him,is to Thee, God the Father a almighty, in theunity of the Holy a Spirit, every honor and glory.

The ancient Church considered the Our Father as the only fitting prayer to end the Canon.

THE PATER NOSTERReplacing the Host and Chalice upon the altar, He chants:

The Celebrant places the Paten under the Host, uncovers the Chalice, makes agenuflection, then taking the Host, he breaks It in the middle over the Chalice, saying:

Per eúndem Dóminum nostrum IesumChristum Fílium tuum, qui tecum vivit etregnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus.

Through the same Jesus Christ Thy Son,our Lord, who lives and reigns with Thee inthe unity of the Holy Spirit, one God.

He replaces the right half of the broken Host on the Paten, and breaks oT a Particle fromthe other half. He places that second half also on the Paten along with the first; then,holding the Particle in his right hand over the Chalice, now held in his left, he says:

V. Per ómnia sæcula sæculórum. R. Amen.

V. For ever and ever.R. Amen.

The Priest makes the Sign of the Cross with the Particle over the Chalice:

V. Pax Dómini sit a semper vobíscum.R. Et cum spíritu tuo.

V. The peace of the Lord beaalways with you.R. And with your spirit.

He drops the Particle into the Precious Blood.

Haec commíxtio, et consecrátio Córporis etSánguinis Dómini nostri Iesu Christi, fiataccipiéntibus nobis in vitam ætérnam. Amen.

May this mingling and consecration of the Bodyand Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ be to uswho receive it effectual unto eternal life. Amen.

AGNUS DEIThe Priest repeats the words of St. John the Baptist, who thus proclaimed the Messias tothe Jews. The Priest covers the Chalice, genuflects, then bowing down and striking his

breast thrice, says: (Recited by the Celebrant and sung by the Schola).

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi, miserérenobis. (x2)Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi, donanobis pacem.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of theworld, have mercy on us. (x2)Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of theworld, grant us peace.

COMMUNION OF THE PRIEST.

Panem cœléstem accípiam, et nomenDómini invocábo.

I will take the Bread of heaven, and callupon the name of the Lord.

A Bell sounds thrice: He takes the two pieces of the Sacred Host in his left hand, then, saying theopening words each time, and striking his breast with his right hand as he does so, he says thrice:

Dómine non sum Dignus, et intra subtectum meum, sed tantum dic verbo, etsanábitur ánima tua, (x3) The bell is rungas he says these words and those of theCongregation who wish to communicate goto the altar rails. Corpus Dómini nostriIesu Christi custódiat ánimam meam invitam ætérnum.

Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldenter under my roof, but only say the word,and my soul shall be healed. (x3) The bellis rung as he says these words and those ofthe Congregation who wish tocommunicate go to the altar rails. May theBody of our Lord Jesus Christ preservemy soul unto life everlasting.

He receives the Sacred Host. After a brief meditation, the celebrant collects any fragments of theHost that may be on the corporal and brushes them into the Chalice with his fingers, saying:

Quid retríbuam Dómino pro ómnibus quæ What shall I render to the Lord for all He has

Crossing himself with the Chalice he says:

Sanguis Dómini nostri Iesu Christi custódiatánimam meam in vitam ætérnam. Amen.

May the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christpreserve my soul unto life everlasting. Amen.

He receives the Precious Blood.

COMMUNION OF THE FAITHFULThe reception of Holy Communion is a sign that the communicant accepts and believes all

that the Roman Catholic Church holds and teaches.

GENERAL NORMS FOR RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION IN THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHIRCH

Those who receive should:

1) be baptized Catholics in full communion and in good standing with the Church.

2) be in a state of Sanctifying Grace (i.e., not conscious of a mortal sin).

3) have fasted at least one hour before receiving the Sacrament.

The Communicant receives the Sacred Host on the tongue while, if you are able,

kneeling. The “Amen” is said by the priest.

The form used by the Priest distributing Holy Communion is:Corapus Dómini nostri Iesu Christi custódiatánimam tuam in vitam ætérnam. Amen.

May a the Body of our Lord Jesus Christpreserve thy soul unto life everlasting. Amen.

After Communion the Priest returns to the altar and reposes any remaining Hosts in the Tabernacle,after which the Consecration Candle is removed from the altar. He then continues with the ablutions,

during which he purifies the Paten, Ciborium, and Chalice and of course, his hands. This action is areminder of the Catholic Church’s Jewish origins. specifically the ritual cleansing in and of the Temple.

THE ABLUTIONS A server pours wine into the Chalice while the Celebrant recites the following prayer:

Quod ore súmpsimus, Dómine, pura mentecapiámus: et de múnere temporáli fiat nobisremédium sempitérnum.

Grant, O Lord, that what we have takenwith our mouth we may receive with a puremind; and that from a temporal gift it maybecome for us an eternal remedy.

Having purified the Chalice by drinking the wine which has mixed with any traces of thePrecious Blood, the Celebrant now moves to the Epistle side where the Servers pour water

and wine over his fingers, into the Chalice, to purify them. Corpus tuum, Dómine, quod sumpsi, etSánguis, quem potávi, adhæreat viscéribusmeis: et præsta; ut in me non remáneat

May thy Body, O Lord, which I havereceived, and Thy Blood which I have drunk,cleave to my very soul; and grant that no stain

He drinks the wine and water, after which he dries the inside of the chalice with thepurificator. He lays it across the chalice and places upon it the paten and pall, veils the

chalice and leaves it in the middle of the altar. He goes to the Epistle side.

THE COMMUNION PRAYER

Beáti mundo corde, quóniam ipsi Deumvidébunt: beáti pacífici, quóniam fíliiDei vocabúntur: beáti, persecutiónem

patiúntur propter iustítiam, quóniamipsórum est regnum cœlórum.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shallsee God: blessed are the peacemakers,they shall be counted the children of God:

blessed are those who suffer persecution in thecause of right, the kingdom of heaven is theirs.

THE POSTCOMMUNION PRAYERHe goes to the middle of the altar, and turning to the people chants:

V. Dóminus vóbiscum. R. E t cum spíritu tuo. He returns to theEpistle side. Orémus.

V. The Lord be with you.R. And with your spirit. He returns to theEpistle side. Let us pray.

Coming back to the middle of the altar, he turns to the Congregation; and chants:THE DISMISSAL
