30th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thus says the LORD: "You shall not molest or oppress an alien,
for you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt. You shall not wrong any widow or orphan.
If ever you wrong them and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry.
—Exodus 22:20-22

BASICS OF THE FAITH Basics of the Faith is an ongoing monthly series dealing with basic doctrines of the Catholic Church.
What is an angel? How do we know they exist? Do we become angels when we die? Did you know that the devil is an angel? For answers to these and many more questions, join us on the first Sunday of each month in the Maximilian Room from 8:45 to 10:15 am. Our topic in 2017-2018 is "All Things Visible and Invisible." We'll discuss the reality of non-material creation, including angels and devils and their interactions with humanity. You’re welcome to attend any individual session. No prior knowledge or preparation is needed. Our next session will be Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 8:45 to 10:15 am. The topic will be Angels in the Old Testament. Coffee, tea, and cake will be provided. To be added to our mailing list for information on upcoming sessions, contact Anne Chavez at [email protected]. Outlines and narrated PowerPoints of previous topics are available at www.basicsofthefaith.org.

THANK YOU AND HELP NEEDED
We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to Dolores Gincley, who will be retiring from tending our Rose Garden. With the help of her husband Ken, she has taken care of the Rose Garden as well as other landscaping work on our grounds for over 20 years. We are now in need of volunteers to take over this much-needed gardening work. Please call the rectory at 610-399-6936 if you are interested in helping keep our campus as beautiful as Dolores and Ken have over the many years.
CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAS

We are planning another meeting on Sunday, November 5th at 1:30 PM in the Timoney Room at Sts. Philip and James. Our meeting will last about one hour.

FROM THE DESK OF MSGR. CARROLL Dear Parishioners, I want to thank you for your magnificent generosity. In early September, only days after Hurricane Harvey caused such great devastation, you responded to an emergency collection in church by donating $17,306.00 THANK YOU!! In the meantime, Hurricanes Irma and Maria caused even further destruction, most especially in the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands and the Catholic dioceses of Puerto Rico. Recent reports indicate just how extensive and probably long-lasting the damage truly is. The bishops of these dioceses have asked for additional assistance. I recognize that you have already been most generous and nothing more is expected of you. If, however, it is possible for you to make a contribution, please take an envelope on the back tables in church marked “Hurricane,” put your donation in it (checks can be made payable to St. Maximilian Kolbe) and place it in the basket in the next several weeks. Whatever is collected by the end of October will be forwarded to these dioceses to support recovery and rebuilding efforts. Gratefully, Msgr. Carroll
