How we came to know….…Who is a saint?

….Is it the one who wears saffron clothes?

….Is it the one with long beard and locks of matted hair?

Or, is it the one who can do some magical acts?

All these qualities don’t necessarily make a saint.

A Perfect Definition of Saint…

“A saint is one who serves God with devotion, beyond the call of duty. Real devotion is unconditional and unmotivated service without any expectations.”

Page 5: Saints & Swindlers

• A saintly person lives a life of detachment according to injunctions of sacred texts, knowing that everything belongs to God and must be used in the service of God and humanity.

• Saintly people are impartial, serving for everyone’s welfare. In their hearts they do not reject anyone.

• They use deception to deprive some money or possession. By doing modification in the message of Scriptures and show which is not true.

• They only show themselves like a Saint… but don’t have the qualities.

• They show some mystic powers to innocent people & out of ignorance people accept them as God.

• They cheat people & commit sinful activities on the strength of holy name of God.

They two become The Spiritual Master (GURU). But people in Ignorance accept Swindlers as a Guru.

Page 9: Saints & Swindlers

When we realize that we are in need for help or need of a Spiritual Master

• We learn how to pray and cry out for help.

• We start looking for a master of the situation.

• We look for the answer to find the root of our problem.

• We are ready to accept some discipline to prepare us to understand the solution.

• We become ready to accept to be a student

Page 10: Saints & Swindlers

Countless evident life gives us to prove that fact.

• In all materials fields of knowledge masters appear who know the inside of their subject.

• We learn practically everything in life from some kind of master.

• Even those who try to rely on their own capacity cannot avoid to use the instruments they received from previous masters in the language, home, school and life etc.

Page 11: Saints & Swindlers

Countless questions of this nature come towards all of us almost every day

• But where is the answer?

• Schools and Universities and even science simply deny to talk about it or give some wild speculation as an answer.

• Being insecure, those without any answer create thousands of pretexts to justify their ignorance towards this inquiry.

In the Scriptures…

• The Guru is described as Good as God ..

But Guru never says, ‘I am God.’ The disciple’s duty is to offer respect to the Guru just as he offers respect to God, but Guru never thinks,

“My disciples are offering me the same respect they offer to God; therefore I have become God.” As soon as he thinks like this, he becomes a Dog.

What is business of a Guru?

Guru’s business is to rescue his disciple from this ignorance.

Guru take the torch light of knowledge and present it

before the living entity enveloped in darkness.

From the Scriptures it is described as

• The Guru is one because he comes in disciple’s succession.

• The genuine Guru has only one opinion and that is opinion expressed by God in the Bhagavad-Gita or other religious scripture.

• Guru is god’s representative, he speaks about God and nothing else.

Page 15: Saints & Swindlers

…..Christian, Muhammad, hindu – It doesn’t matter. If he issimply speaking on behalf of god, he is a Guru.

Lord Jesus Christ, for instance. He canvassed people, saying ,” Just try to love God.”

Any one– it doesn’t matter who – be he Hindu, Muslim or Christian, is a Guru if he convinces people to love God.

The real Guru says , “I am a servant of God and I will make you a servant of God also.”

So, What the Guru teaches his disciple

• How to meditate from the core of his heart.

• How to serve God and his devotees.

• How to understand Vedanta the conclusion of Vedic knowledge.

• How to become humble and harmonious.

• How to do all activities by surrendering his heart to the sweet will of the Supreme Lord.
