LIBRARY UPDATE At the moment we have over 300 overdue books. If you get an email from us to say your child’s book is overdue please lend them a hand to find the book, and encourage them to bring it back to the library. If it would help, we can email you a picture of the book cover so you know what you are looking for. Just email us to ask.

We have a great system where children can reserve books, but it is very disappointing when children to have to wait such long times for books because another child still has the book/s when they should have been returned.

Unfortunately we are also getting a large number of books returned damaged – wet, ripped or drawn in. When this happens we charge a replacement fee for the book/s.

A suggestion is for children to keep their library books in their library bags when not reading them so they know where they are and they don’t get damaged.

Thank you, from the Library Team

BANDQUEST Last Thursday two bands from Waitākiri Primary School performed at the national Bandquest competition at Chisnallwood Intermediate. They played incredibly well and impressed the audience with their tight, dynamic performance. The bands that performed were: Radio Chaos – with Keira, Ollie, Caleb and Lucas 21 Stripes – with Riley, Nixon, Saxon, Gemma and Bayden. It was a great experience for the bands and it was fantastic to see Lucas Smith win the Rocking Drummer award!!! Well done to everyone involved and a big thanks to Mr Bush for organising!

Home Learning “REAL Challenges”

As part of the Waitākiri Primary School REAL Challenges, children can help Keep New Zealand

Beautiful but tick off a REAL Challenge as well! This could be a ‘design your own challenge’ in

Community or Environment.

If you would like to do this, you will need to help Keep New Zealand Beautiful by doing

something that is good for our environment. This can be collecting rubbish, removing graffiti,

planting trees, etc. and can be done anytime between the 11th and 17th of September 2017

during Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week.

Please take this form home to be completed by you and your parent/caregiver. You will need to

return this to your home teacher and record evidence that you have completed this challenge

(take a photo or video).

Thank you for your help! Now go and help Keep New Zealand Beautiful!

Cut here and return to your teacher

PTA Walkathon Fundraiser The children and staff will be walking through Clarevale Reserve and Clarevale Loop on the afternoon of Tuesday 12th September for one hour for our Walkathon. A pack has been sent home with all children last week with further information to collect sponsorship.

Children will wear their school uniform but can wear walking/sports shoes for the day.

We would love parents and family members to walk with us too. We will be assembling on the back court behind Windsor Studio at 1:40pm and starting the walkathon at 1:45pm. We hope you can join us.

Dear Year 6 Parents, Just a reminder to get your enrolments in for Chisnallwood. This is important in terms of class planning and transitions. These are available from the school CHOICE Room or from Chisnallwood. We have a taster day on September 19 which is an important part of our support for Waitākiri students. We also have many scholarships available that enrolled students can apply for Kind regards, Justin Fields-Principal, Chisnallwood Intermediate
