a. Short Term Contracts: The short term

trading market constitutes about 5% of

the total generation in the country

and is projected to grow at a very

fast clip. Tata Power Trading’s

key role is to match the

availability of power from the

suppliers’ and the customers’

requirement, scheduling of

power ow on a day-ahead

basis and also on term ahead

basis taking into account and

balancing requirements of both

the parties. We facilitate the power

trade transaction by securing open

access from Nodal Regional Load

Despatch Centre (RLDC) and ensure

Operational ecacy through continuous

and close co-ordination with various

intervening agencies e.g. CTU, STUs, RLDCs,

and SLDCs. We follow the best industry

practices for commercial settlement and also

ensure payment security to our suppliers at all

times.

b. Medium and Long Term Contracts:

Several favorable and converging factors such as

progressively maturing reform process, gap

between demand and supply of power,

high growth rate of the Indian

economy etc are creating the

right environment for private

sector participation in the

power sector. Many

entrepreneurs are entering

the power sector and are set

to create signicant

generation capacities. Tata

Power Trading aims at playing a

supportive role to power project

developers by oering customized

and value added services to the

developers ensuring viability and

business success

Tata Power Trading oers to o-take

power on mid term and/or long term based

on the specic requirements of power

project while maximizing the returns to the

project developer. Tata Power Trading would

work closely with power developers to

minimize o-take risks by providing assistance in

choosing the right mix of power sale on short, mid and

long term horizons.

Tata Power Trading’s approach is based on its positive

outlook and perspective on Indian power market

dynamics and is aimed at leveraging prevalent and

CERC has permitted trading of Electricity through

Power Exchange with eect from June 2008. Currently,

two exchanges viz. Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) and

Power Exchange of India Limited (PXIL) are in operation

in India which facilitate an automated on-line platform

for physical day-ahead contracts. Our parent

organization The Tata Power Company Ltd. is an equity

partner in IEX while Tata Power Trading is an equity

partner of PXIL. Tata Power Trading is a registered

Trading-cum-Clearing Member of both the Power

Exchanges which allows it to maximize returns to its

esteemed clients. Tata Power Trading has also tied up

with a number of industrial consumers for purchase of

power through Power Exchanges to meet their

requirement during the Load shedding periods.

Highly skilled experts constitute its operations team

and round-the-clock Control Centre ensures accurate

and reliable power transactions.
