The Firehouse Grill beganwith a spark - the desire torevive the memories of goodtimes and good food in thislocale years ago. As the idea

began to smolder, Bob Davis,Blue Ash resident and formerfirefighter, remembered whathad made this place great:unparalleled patio views, lunch hour wraps, privatemeeting space, and warmsummer nights with livemusic. This ignited his pas-sion to develop this commu-nity hangout to accentuatethe things that made it great;nightlife comes alive with anew bar, and the upgradedpatio outshines its formerglory!

PPaatt BBeennaattaarr && NNeeiill GGiirraallddooPat Benatar has been breaking the

rules and blazing a trail for female rockstars for more than 30 years. In the 80s,she was nominated eight times and wonfour Grammy awards for Best FemaleRock Performance. She also receivedthree American Music Awards. Amongher two multi-platinum, five platinum, and three gold albums, Pat had 19 Top40 hits including “Hit Me With YourBest Shot,” which was her first top 10.In 1978, Pat began working with NeilGiraldo, a talented musician andarranger. Neil had previously workedwith several groups included RickDerringer’s band. Pat and Neil workedwell together and developed a rapporton and off stage. Ironically, the first songNeil wrote for Pat was “We Live ForLove.” He has produced all but one ofher albums. Neil has also producedalbums for John Waite and the Del-Lords, and contributed to RickSpringfield’s no. 1 hit “Jesse’s Girl” and“Don’t Fight It” by Kenny Loggins.

Pat and Neil married in 1982, andbetween 1985 and 1988, Pat took timeoff to raise their daughter. Since then,Pat has been appearing in cameo rolesin several TV shows. She also workedon her autobiography “Between a Heartand a Rock Place.” Neil remains busyworking on various projects, such as,writing the score for the movie“Nailed,” and compiling songs for aBruce Springsteen Tribute album.

RREEOO SSppeeeeddwwaaggoonnYou may call the members of REO

Speedwagon rock stars, but they prefer:Working musicians. REO (famouslynamed after a flat-bed truck and fireengine) formed in 1967 and vocalistKevin Cronin has directed the band’scourse since 1971. For decades the bandhas blended consistency and change.

Initially, members rode in stationwagons, going from small gigs to evensmaller gigs, just to get the REO nameout. Later REO consistently reached thetop of the charts with 22 million albumssold in the U.S. and 40 million aroundthe world. The band has a string of goldand platinum records and internationalhit singles. Members have that Midwestwork ethic, and other rock bands haveaspired to reach their success.

REO members have always kept theireyes on the future and on the road –they have never missed a year perform-ing live, thrilling fans with hits like“Keep On Loving You” and “Can’t FightThis Feeling.” With the many currentchanges in the music industry, the bandmembers recorded “Find Your OwnWay Home” in 2007 and released itthrough Wal-Mart. REO drove to radiostations across the country to promotethe album, and that proved more suc-cessful than if they had released itthrough a record company.

Kevin Cronin provides lead vocals, guitar, and keyboards. Other bandmembers include Bruce Hall (bass),Neal Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato(lead guitar) and Bryan Hitt (drums).

CCrreeeeddeennccee CClleeaarrwwaatteerr RReevviissiitteeddMembers include Doug “Cosmo”

Clifford, Stu Cook, John Tristao, SteveGunner, and Kurt Griffey.

Only a handful of drummers in therock world can be identified by onename, such as, Ringo and Bonzo. Cosmois a member of that elite club. He pro-vided the groove for all the great songsCCR recorded in the 60s and 70s. Cosmoalways takes time to chat with or posefor pictures with fans. He has beeninducted into the Rock and Roll Hall ofFame. Best pal Stu Cook helped Cosmosupply the groove for the songs andprovided the groundwork for classicAmerican rock ‘n’ roll. He’s an electricbassist who helped define the genre. Hehas also been inducted into the Rockand Roll Hall of Fame. In the ’60s, JohnTristao was lead singer with the bandPeople whose hit “I Love You” reachedthe Top 10. Steve Gunner has worked inthe deep South, the San Francisco Bayarea, and, since 1982, in Los Angeles. Hesings and plays keyboards, acoustic gui-tar, harmonica, and percussion. He mayeven toss out a churrango solo whenneeded. Kurt Griffey is one of the pre-mier musicians of today. As a guitarist, songwriter, producer, and performer, hehas recorded and toured with some ofthe greatest musicians of all time includ-ing members of the Eagles, Toto,Foreigner, Santana, Journey, and theMoody Blues.

Years after CCR disbanded, Cook andClifford decided to put together theirown band. CCR fans are reaping thebenefit of that collaboration.
