One in Christ : Pastor Jaroslav Javornik & Bishop's Secretary Evka Hlavati from the Slovak Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Vojvodina, Serbia, Bishop Amon Kinyunyu and General Sec- retary Robert Mgaya from the Dodoma Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, and Rev. Dr. Ron Glusenkamp Director for the Always Being Made New Campaign, ELCA helped participants, through worship leadership, preaching and presentations to hear stories about local, national and global ministries and inter-church relationships which brought home our Oneness in Christ, even with Christ's Church across the waters. Growing as Disciples : Pastor Tim and Diane Sonnenberg as well as a myriad of NWOS local min- istry "Mission Moments" and Workshop presenters challenged, taught and equipped participants to continue growing as disciples through global missions, Bible study, personal finance, women and justice issues, church mission strategy development, marketing and much more. Our own band REW!ND also provided witness through music for the youth and voting members on Friday evening, sharing their personal stories of faith and their journey as young adults in the ELCA. Then through designated on-site mission projects voting members and youth, together, experienced significant moments of being "Sent with the Spirit"as they took time and used their creativity to: pack 19,000 meals for the hungry, weave grocery bag mats for the homeless, make cards for nurs- ing homes, blankets for foster families, and posters celebrating special -needs ministry...In some 30 hours, this group of NWOS members ages 10 - 80 finished the business of the synod: elections and finance; discussed issues around the Sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist and the Use of the Means of Grace, gathered information regarding the Synod and ELCA campaigns, began the pro- cess of preparing for the 2016 Bishop Election, commissioned our young people to the ELCA Na- tional Gathering in Detroit, and the Tumaini Medical Mission 2 Trio to Tanzania this fall, and, of course, shared in the body of Christ through the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. This event-full weekend and that all-important meal together reminded both young, old and in between, that Christ's forgiveness and grace is experienced in our communion together, as is our oneness in Christ, which then gives us the power to be sent back into our communities knowing that the Spirit promises to be with us to the end of the age. Summer Mission Project - House of Ruth Mom Space

As promised at the beginning of the year - the Outreach & Evangelism Committee will plan outreach & mission projects throughout the year to benefit the House of Ruth Domestic Violence Shelter. When asked if there was a need at the home for something "larger" - we were told that they had received a new playset for the children, but needed a Mom Space to go with it. So - our next project will be the construction of the Mom Space, a sidewalk and patio area, plus the purchase of outdoor furniture. The fundrais-ing has begun, with the Lenten Offerings that were designated to the House of Ruth giv-ing us an awesome start! Thank you!! The committee has also applied for two different community grants, which we will find out about sometime in June.

Because of the sensitive nature of the facility and the need to remain confidential - we will need to hire the work to be done by an approved contractor, and not use volun-teer labor. This will also ensure that they receive a quality space that will last a long time. We also are seeking donations and or deep discounts from local businesses on the furniture.

At this time - according to our estimates and possibility of receiving grants - we are still in need of $800$1,000. If you would like to make a contribution to the project - please place in the offering plate and mark it for "House of Ruth Project".

    DEACON SUPPORT TEAM

All members should be aware of their deacon and hopefully have met him or her to discuss any con-cerns or questions you may have had. Your deacons have a sincere interest in serving your needs and encour-age you to bring your needs to the attention of Pastor, the deacon group or council whichever is appropriate. In turn, we trust you have an equally sincere interest in getting to know your deacon as a present and future friend and confidant. We also want to emphasize the importance of speaking with Pastor whenever the need arises. He wants to know your concerns to help provide a solution or answers to your questions. He remains the best resource within our congregation to share wisdom and knowledge. Deacons are not exempt from having a deacon of their own. At times we need someone willing to listen and we turn to our deacon. In our bi-monthly meetings, the eight deacons discuss a variety of topics concerning the spiritual welfare of the congregation. Most importantly we are available for you when your needs might re-quire someone to talk with other than Pastor Tim. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the members of Zions Lutheran Church and we encourage you to reach out to your deacon whenever the need arises. Please call the church office for any assistance.
