Quick News July 22, 2013 Superintendent’s Message John P. Kronour, PhD. The school hallways are quiet without 2600 students and their terrific teachers. Yet, the summer months are anything but idle for many district employees. Maintenance crews are busy with the annual rite of renewing and refurbishing our buildings. Administrators are preparing curriculum and readying for the new Ohio Teachers Evaluation System(OTES). Principals are priming for Open Houses and the 2013-2014 school year. The transportation department is fine- tuning the bus routes to accommodate population shifts and the reinstated one- mile zone. One of the more important summer tasks is hiring qualified, energetic employees! Positions became available through retirements, resignations, and reassignments. The levy passage also allowed the district to restore positions previously cut because of inadequate funding. Please join me in welcoming our newest employees! traveled to Costa Rica with TMS

explored the rich biology and

culture that Central America

offers Hiking for hours in a wet

forest of green by day and pitch

black at night coming face to face

with deadly snakes and lovable

sloths and digging forest ponds for

endangered frogs are a few of the

experiences students enjoyed

Kindergarten Registration If you have a child or know of someone with a child who is eligible to attend

kindergarten the child must be registered before attending school All children

who are five years old as of August 1st 2013 qualify for kindergarten Call

Kindergarten Screening Kindergarten Screening is scheduled for August 21 22 and 23 This assessment is by appointment

only All appointments were scheduled during registration Be sure to check your calendar for the date

Kindergarten Open House

Kindergarten Open House is scheduled for Friday August 23rd

Students enrolled in the morning session should

attend with their families from 500 PM to 545 PM Students enrolled in the afternoon session should attend with

their families from 600 PM to 645 PM

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION High School Principal Belinda Banks and her staff are preparing for Freshman Orientation a new program

designed to ease the transition to high school All ninth graders are encouraged to attend the daylong event on

August 19th

Students will tour the building get their schedules find their lockers meet upper classmen and learn

about school clubs Check-in begins at 830 The fun starts at 900 AM and ends at 300 PM

SIXTH GRADE ORIENTATION Students and their families are invited to 6

th grade orientation on Wednesday August 21

st beginning at 630 PM in

the TMS Gymnasium The program is designed to allow students to be better acquainted with their new school

learn about extra-curricular activities and meet their teachers Students also will receive their schedules and have

an opportunity to walk ldquofrom class to classrdquo to feel more at ease with the floor plan before the start of school
