E QUIPMENT II AES enlarges Convertor II mechanical seals Used in both new installations and to replace packings or two- piece seals, the standard duty Convertor II size range from AES Engineering has been ex- tended to fit shaft or sleeve sizes up to 4" (100 mm). The new and larger Conver- tor II seals are available in the same material combinations as the smaller seals and have been developed using the same tech- nology FEA programme to en- sure optimum performance. All AES cartridge mechanical seals are statically tested (to 8 bar) to ensure leak-free op- eration and they are pre-as- sembled to their precise working length to facilitate in- stallation and give extended pump service-life. According to AES, the clean simple profile of the competi- tively priced Convertor II en- ables this balanced seal to be fitted into a wider range of rotating equipment without modifications. UK debut for Integra pumping station Sarlin Pumps' Integra pumping station has been launched in the UIC This prefabricated unit arrives on the back of a lorry, ready to install, complete with pumps, pipework and all that is needed to comply with 'Sewers for Adoption -- Edition 4'. Manufactured from GRP, it has a footprint of 7 m 2, and the whole package is designed for underground installation which, says the campany, can be per- formed in a matter of days. Compared with a traditional concrete structure, this is said to be much faster and more cost-effective, and in some cases, up to 30% cost savings have been achieved over con- crete pumping stations. Under- ground siting is also unobtrusive and deters vandals. The Integra features a wet/ dry well design, with the pumps and control equipment con- tained in a dry, clean, air- conditioned environment. Ac- cess to the wet well is seldom necessary. The seamless chambers do not leak, they require minimal extra support and are resistant to a wide range of effluents. They are also resistant to cli- matic conditions that are far tougher than those experienced in the UtC Prefabricated sta- tions of this sort are widely used, and in some parts of Scandinavia this design is the norm. Some of the earliest Sarlin pumping station packages have been in use for twenty years. Each unit is fully-equipped with stainless steel piping and Sarlin submersible pumps fea- turing adjustable wear clear- ances for improved operational reliability. Condition monitor- ing is also available through Sarlin Pump Manager systems and it is compatible with lead- ing telemetry systems. Sarlin says that the station's design is as flexible as the user needs it to be and special requirements can be readily taken into account. Stuart Turner expands submersible pump range Stuart Turner has added an- other model to its high head range of submersible pumps. Designated Diver 4, this four- stage, centrifugal pump joins the two-stage Diver 2 and three-stage Diver 3 models. The company has also launched a range of portable jet power pumps, ideal for a wide range of domestic applications. The Diver 4 produces heads up to 46 m and flows up to 95 l/rain, making it ideal for pressure requirements such as pumping water from a well or a water source to taps, or any clean water environment requir- ing a high head of water. The Diver 3 and 4 pumps are available with a 'Boostamatic' option, designed to provide a pressurised water system for installations where mains pres- sure is inadequate or unavail- able. Using this option, they are ideal for irrigation or water supply applications where the pump can be located, for exam- ple, in a well or pond. Auto- matic starting and stopping is achieved by turning on a tap some distance away. The company's family of sub- mersible pumps includes clean- and dirty-water ranges along- side the high head Diver range. Capable of handling solids up to 30 mm in diameter, the three pumps in the Vort dirty-water range are ideal for applications WORLD PUMPS NOVEMBER 1995
