Some thoughts while looking out the window…

Every time we move from one year to another, there is a certain

amount of a “starting over and starting fresh” attitude. The slate is clean in the

new year for us to start over or anew. New Year’s Resolutions are made and

some are forgotten.

Your Ad. Council wants to begin 2013 with this “starting fresh” attitude

in planning a special gathering on Sunday, February 17th. We want to take

some intentional time and ask ourselves, “What does God have in store for

SUMC in 2013? What new ministries are we be called to begin?”

We have decided to use the “smart phone culture” as our theme.

Since smart phones have all kinds of unique Apps that do everything, we are

going to see all the unique ministries of our church as our “apps” as well. We

have worship, missions, education, youth ministry, outreach to name a few of

our church “apps”. The plan for the day (February 17) includes:

8:30 worship

9:45 Sunday school

11:00 worship

12:30 opening prayer and blessing of the lunch

during the meal there will be table discussions:

What gets you excited about SUMC

How are we living out our vision—BAIGL?

What are your hopes and dreams?

1:30 each ministry team presents what they (their app) do

2:00 share the results from each table and write record

3:00 closing and coming home

It will be a great time for our whole church family to get together,

brainstorm, dream and share the word and work God has placed on everyone’s

heart to where we will go in 2013. Mark the date!

Have a blessed beginning to 2013, Gordie

Education News

The boys and girls in K, 1st, and 2nd grades are collect-

ing marbles—marbles represent good behavior and participation.

Earning a marble includes respect, not interrupting, answering

questions, writing, drawing, gluing, etc.

When they have collected 50 marbles in the collection

jar, a “treat” is enjoyed. Our first treat was to play the game Four

Corners. They really like to play Four Corners.

They continue to work well so they will keep rolling in those

marbles.

Way to go Lower El class. Keep up the Gold Medal attitude!

practices. "High-Performance Ethics" includes tips on how

to lead a team with integrity, practical tools for resisting the

pressure to compromise workplace standards, and encour-

agement for workers who want to see strong businesses--

and strong values--thrive. 10 Principles: First Things Only
