4TH QUARTER 2020 ISSUE NO. 4
The 2020 CPH is a national government undertaking that
involves collecting and analyzing data that will be used in the
social and economic development plans, programs and policies.
It collects demographic and socio-economic characteristics of
the population, housing characteristics, household and
barangay characteristics for each barangay and municipality.
The 2020 CPH 3rd Level Training was conducted at E.I. Suites
Poblacion, Siqujor from August 3 to August 8, 2020. PSA
Siquijor staff, headed by SuSS Felicisimo B. Valios, as well as
the six Head CAS, seven CAS, and five hired personnel for the
2020 CPH, attended the training. Also, present in the training
was Engr. Ariel E. Florendo, Regional Director of PSA RSSO

The 2020 CPH 4th Level Training was held at
the different municipalities of Siquijor. The
training commenced on the 17th of August
2020 and ended on the 22nd of August 2020.
The training was led by the Head CAS who
also serves as the trainer along with the hired
CAS.
There are 2 stages of Data Processing for 2020
CPH, the Manual and Machine Processing. The
2nd Level Training for 2020 CPH Data
Processing Training started on October 12, 2020
and ends on October 17, 2020. For PSA-
Siquijor, 8 manual processors were hired to
check the completeness and correctness of the
2020 CPH questionnaires.
There are 134 recruited census personnel involved in the operation for 2020 CPH. The
Municipality of Siquijor has the largest number of census staff hired, with a total of 41. The
Municipality of Enrique Villanueva has the lowest number of 10 hired staff. Enumeration and
supervision for CPH 2020 began on September 1, 2020 and was completed on October 9,
2020.

Processing started on October 21, 2020 until
October 23, 2020. Hired Manual Processors
started editing on October 26, 2020 until
December 18, 2020.
Machine Data Processing training was held from
December 16 to18, 2020. This was attended by
the 3 hired Machine Processors. (JCM)

PSA SIQUIJOR LAUDS 7TH ANNIVERSARY IN
NEW OFFICE
The Philippine Statistics Authority-Siquijor
Provincial Statistical Office recently celebrated the
7th year of public service along with the blessing
of its new office space located on the 3rd of
Siquijor Business and Convention Center,
Poblacion, Siquijor.
The anniversary is celebrated with the theme
"PSA Embracing New Normal in the 4IR,"
encompassing the challenges of the new normal
brought about by COVID-19 pandemic.
The celebration started with a holy mass presided
by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Ramon L. Duran, the newly
installed parish priest of Siquijor Parish.

For this quarter, there were 4 hired SRs, 2 regular staff and 1 SuSS attended the 3rd level
training. AS Jay B. Cabaron and SS II Joselito C. Maghanoy served as trainors for this
October 2020 survey round.
The enumeration period started on October 8, 2020 and ended on October 29, 2020 including
call backs. The longest duration of enumeration was 18 mandays. There were 10 EAs out of
15 sample EAs or 67 % were supervised. Ten (10) EAs were also re-interviewed. (JCM)

During the 3rd Level Training at PSA Siquijor PSO Conduct of Field Interview
Governor Zaldy Villa together with Vice-Governor Mei Ling Quezon-Brown also graced the
celebration who both congratulated the agency and the personnel. Villa said PSA has played a
big role in the economic success of the province because of the quality data the agency has
provided to the provincial government. (MJB)

LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY SITUATION REPORT
1ST SEMESTER 2020
Livestock and poultry inventory in the Province of Siquijor
posted positive growths in 1st Semester of 2020. Inventory
in the livestock sector went up by 6.50 percent while
inventory in the poultry sector grew by 8.70 percent in
2020.
Among the livestock and poultry products that recorded a
significant increase in heads were native chickens, swine,
goat, cattle, and carabao. Native chicken, as major
contributor of poultry inventory, had increased by 9.42
percent. Likewise, swine, with the biggest share in livestock
inventory, recorded 7.56 percent increase in 2020
Having a good ID system is necessary for achieving
sustainable development. Providing a legal identity for all
is one of the objectives under Sustainable Development
Goals (SDG No. 16), which is to “promote peaceful and
inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide
access to justice for all and build effective, accountable,
and inclusive institutions at all levels.”
Hence, the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) was
established. The identification called PhilID is a non-
transferrable foundational identity card that shall be
issued to citizens and resident aliens living in the
Philippines.
To jump start this operation, the Philippine Statistics
Authority-Siquijor Provincial Statistical Office is
incessantly coordinating with the local government units
of the Province of Siquijor in preparation for PhilSys,
which is set to start in 2021.

Swine recorded the largest share accounting for 52 percent
in livestock inventory, followed by goat, cattle, carabao
having a share of 25 percent, 22 percent, 1 percent,
respectively.
Native chicken had the largest share in the poultry
inventory contributing 98 percent while layer, duck and
broiler shared only 2 percent, 0.22 percent and 0.00
percent, respectively. (JBA)

In connection with the 31st National Statistics Month
(NSM) celebration which was celebrated for the whole
month of October 2020, various activities were
conducted by the provincial and district office to add
color to the month-long celebration. This year’s
celebration carried the theme, “Bridging Digital
Gaps: Making Information Available to All”.
One of the activities being undertaken by this office is
the conduct of coordination activities to the various
local government units and national government
agencies on the hanging of the NSM streamer in their
respective offices. Hanging of streamer is one way of
promoting awareness of the said celebration. It is
employed as one of the tools to disseminate the
activity and to show support of the celebration.
Philippine Statistics Authority Siquijor Provincial Office
also conducted its own statistical exhibit and book
display at the provincial office. The statistical exhibit
and display features some of the latest statistical
products and information about the country, the
regional and the Province of Siquijor. The information
was displayed at the bulletin board of the office along
with the prominent display of latest PSA publications,
special releases, brochures and flyers. It also featured
information and other reading materials on the 2015
Census of Population. The exhibit and book display
also featured posters about the celebration and its
theme for this year’s activity.
31ST NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH CELEBRATION
In order to fast track the registration, PSA has partnered with the local government units
(LGUs) to identify the low income household heads. While the PSA shall lead the overall
process of the registration, the LGU shall then provide the registration centers, security and
crowd control personnel, and transportation of registrants in remote barangays. (MJB)

The activity was spearheaded by the statistical unit of
the PSA Siquijor and is one of the activities conducted to
highlight this year’s celebration as well as promote
awareness of various products and services being
offered by the office.
PSA Siquijor Provincial Statistics Office also conducted
the culmination activity last 30 October 2020 at PSA
Siquijor Provincial Office.
The main activity of the culmination was the information
dissemination on the various results/key indicators of the
2018 FIES and 2017 NDHS. SS II Joselito C. Maghanoy,
being the focal person for FIES lectured on Poverty

Visayas and Siquijor province.
Likewise SS II Jill Bernadette C. Abing
also lectured on the results/key
findings of the 2017 NDHS at the

Central Visayas.
During the open forum many questions
were asked with to the topics
discussed. All queries were addressed

PSA SIQUIJOR UNDERTAKES 2021 PLANNING WORKSHOPS
PSA Siquijor attended the 2021 Regional Planning
Workshop last 21 – 22 December 2021 via zoom
held at Coco Grove Beach Resort, San Juan,
Siquijor. It was participated by the 4 provinces under
Region VII.
2021 Provincial Planning Workshop were also
conducted by PSA Siquijor headed by its Chief
Statistical Specialist, Aurelia M. Canda. All regular
employees including COSWs attended the said
activity on 23 December 2021.
The planning workshops were conducted to evaluate the
major accomplishments and performances of the
Provincial Statistical Offices for the year 2020 and to
determine and identify intervening concerns in the Field
Office level in course of implementing programs and
projects for the PSA.
The planning workshops also assess the overall capacity
of the Field Office to realize all the programs and projects for 2021 through the discussion of
the detailed budget, manpower, and other resources and facilities required for each program
