Aamir Khan is a living legend: Kareena KapoorActress Kareena Kapoor calls actor Aamir Khan a living legend.“Aamir is a living legend. He has a beautiful mind and he definitely is one of the finest actors of all time,” Kareena said during India’s Prime Icon programme aired on Big CBS Prime. The actor is competing with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, A.R. Rahman and Narendra Modi for the title of “India’s Prime Icon”.Kareena’s elder sister Karisma Kapoor, who has worked with Aamir in “Raja Hindustani”, also heaped praise at the actor.“Aamir is most definitely an icon and a true legend. He is always up to something new and different. I’ve had the opportunity of working with him in iconic films like ‘Raja Hindustani’ and ‘Andaaz Apna Apna’,” Karisma said.“I’m really happy that after ‘Talaash’ and ’3 Idiots’ even Kareena-Aamir jodi has become a hit pair,” she added.

Is she Salman Khan’s new girl?Salman Khan is known to help young actors find their footing in the big, bad world of Bollywood. Starting with Katrina Kaif, who is now among the top actors in the industry, he’s gone on to support Zarine Khan, Hazel Keech and Mahek Chahal among others. Now, it seems that south actor Daisy Shah is next in line. The Dabangg star apparently did a shoot with her at his farmhouse on his birthday. “They drove down to Panvel on Thursday morning with his crew and photographers and did an extensive shoot there,” says a source present at the farmhouse. This was not just an ordinary photo shoot that he went all the way to Panvel for; it looked as though the team was doing a look test with Daisy. “Salman’s farmhouse is massive. They did photo and video shoots at different locations at the place all through the day,” says the source. Reportedly, the female lead has not been decided for any of Salman’s 2013 projects — Sohail Khan’s Sher and Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick. The shoot gives rise to speculations that Daisy could be the lucky

one to feature in either of these films. Salman had a hearing related to his 2002 hit-and-run case on December 27, but the actor was exempted from his court appearance. “He made the best use of the day. Salman came back to Mumbai late in the evening, after wrapping up the shoot,” says the source.Daisy was an assistant to choreographer Ganesh

Acharya in films like Zameen (2003) and Khakee (2004). Salman also has a subtle connection with her: She was the female lead opposite south actor Jaggesh in the original Kannada version of his 2011 hit Bodyguard. The film turned out to be an equally big hit when it was remade in Hindi with Salman and Kareena in the same year.

Imran Khan follows the footsteps of uncle Aamir Khan

Every actor is an attention seeker: Anushka SharmaHailing from an army background, Anushka Sharma has led a very quiet and disciplined life, but confesses her profession has now made her an attention-seeker – an “occupational hazard” for all actors.“I am not spoilt as I was brought up in an army background. But every actor is an attention-seeker. It is an occupational hazard for us. If I don’t seek attention, I will not be doing my work well,” said Anushka in an interview. The actress made her Bollywood debut in 2008 with “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” and later went on to do films like “Badmaash Company”, “Band Baaja Baaraat”, “Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl” and most recently “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”.In a short span of four years, Anushka has carved a niche for herself in Bollywood and the 24-year-old says she wants to use her success to do things on her own terms.“You should use success as a way of doing your work in a better way. I want to be successful to be able to do things on my own terms. You should use your stardom and success to be able to pull people into the theatre. That’s what I would want to do with my success,” Anushka said.Asked what her mantra to survive in the industry is, she said: “Do your work and mind your own business; that is the only way.” Anushka admits she wasn’t sure about the film industry before she joined it, but her views changed once she became a part of it.“I used to think it is a dirty

Actor Imran Khan is following in the footsteps of his uncle Aamir Khan and pasting posters of his new film “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” on taxis.Imran recounts the similarity between his way and what Aamir once did.“Twenty four years ago Aamir uncle pasted the posters of his film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. I remember him telling the story that he and my mother were roaming around the by-lanes of Bandra and seeking the permission of rickshaw drivers to paste the posters of his film and telling them that he is the hero of the film,” the 29-year-old said here Monday while promoting the film.“Flash forward 24 years and I find myself doing the same thing. Actually in our city public transport is the most important thing whether it is rickshaw, taxis or buses, it has always been the lifeline of the city. I think it is the easiest way to communicate and reach out to the people,” he added.Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” also features Anushka Sharma, Pankaj Kapur and Shabana Azmi. It hits theatres Jan 11.

field because of these news channels playing dumb stories. But now I feel that when you get a lot here, you need to give back equally too. So whoever is the biggest star right now is working that much harder,” she said. After garnering critical acclaim for her performance in “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”, Anushka will now be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” opposite Imran Khan and Pankaj Kapoor. It releases Jan 11.The actress found the role of Bijlee challenging as it was difficult for her to relate to it. “This is the first time I dealt with something which I just could not relate to. When I was growing up I was not at all spoilt. There was no scope for throwing tantrums in my

house. Plus, she (Bijlee) is not a stereotypical spoilt brat. I could not look at my personal references for this. I had to be like someone else totally,” she said.Anushka admits that though she felt intimidated by Pankaj Kapoor, she had learnt a lot from the veteran actor.“Pankaj Kapoor is one of the best actors one has ever seen because he has been a theatre actor. He has learnt to blank out people and the crowd and focus. That is one of the strengths an actor must possess,” she said.“I was intimidated by him. He doesn’t talk much so you are always on tenterhooks around him. But it is such a pleasure seeing him act. He doesn’t drink and he has played an alcoholic,” she said.

Diverse CanadaHarper Government Marks New Year with Historic

Pension ReformsThe Harper Government is ringing in the New Year with historic public sector pension reforms that will save Canadian taxpayers $2.6-billion over the next five years. The reforms, which come into effect today, bring federal employee pension contributions more in line with the private sector by introducing a 50-50 cost sharing model for pension plan members. The retirement age for new federal hires will also increase, effective January 1, 2013, from 60 to 65 years of age.“Bringing public sector pension contributions more in line with the private sector is the right thing to do,” said the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board. “It’s also the fiscally responsible thing to do. These changes underscore our Government’s commitment to returning to balanced budgets and ensuring the pension system is financially sustainable over the long term.”The pension changes, introduced in the Jobs and Growth Act, 2012, which received Royal Assent in

December, are expected to generate ongoing savings of

$900 million annually once the 50-50 cost-sharing regime is fully implemented in 2017.“Introducing these historic reforms is an auspicious way to begin the New Year,” said Minister Clement. “It’s an important signal that our Government is on the right track when it comes to finding reasonable savings and respecting Canadian taxpayers’ dollars.”More information about the public service pension plan is available on the Public Service Pension and Benefits Web Portal.

that could spark a new recession with the resulting reduction in consumer spending came after lengthy talks between Vice President Joe Biden and Senate Republicans night. It extends the tax cuts approved during the presidency of George W. Bush for Americans earning under $400,000 and couples earning less than $450,000 -- up from the $250,000 level Democrats had originally sought. Spending cuts too have been delayed for two months to allow a wider agreement. The Bush era tax technically expired at midnight with the

Congress failing to pass a bill in time, but few effects will be felt as is a U.S. public holiday. The current House can legislate until, when it is replaced by a new legislature chosen in November.Obama welcomed the Senate vote, saying “Leaders from both parties in the Senate came together to reach an agreement that passed with overwhelming bipartisan support today that protects 98 percent of Americans and 97 percent of small business owners from a middle class tax hike.”“Glad it’s over,” said Democrat Senate Majority Leader

Harry Reid shortly after the Senate vote. “We’ll see if the Republicans in the House can become functional instead of dysfunctional.”But a statement from House leadership made no promises.“Decisions about whether the House will seek to accept or promptly amend the measure will not be made until House members -- and the American people -- have been able to review the legislation,” the statement said.

Indian Economy Likely to Grow at 6.3 Percent in 2013: RBSIndian economy is likely to grow at 6.3 percent next year

largely due to favourable base effect, while inflation

is expected to drop to a comfortable 5.4 percent level

in FY14, UK-based bank RBS said.“Growth should accelerate to 6.3 percent [in 2013] from 4.8 percent this year [2012] due to favourable base effect, particularly in the industrial sector,” RBS Research said in a report. It said that inflation will trend down next year on the back of weak growth and relatively stable commodity prices. “We do expect a discernible deceleration in inflation as weak growth and relatively stable commodity prices should mitigate inflation pressures. For FY14, we expect inf lation to average 5.4 percent compared with 7.6 percent this f iscal.”Though it is optimistic about higher growth rate, the report warned that ingredients are still missing which will pave the way for a durable recovery with sluggish momentum in both consumption and investment.“At this stage, various indicators, ranging from non-food credit to auto sales, are still showing marked weakness, presumably an outcome of slowing income growth and persistently high inf lation,” it said, adding investment is likely to remain weak at least till

second half of FY14.On the policy front, the RBI pointed out that the recent reforms are inadequate for turning around the investment cycle and policy measures in the area of domestic resource allocation such as mining and land acquisition are required. The report took note of the rising non-performing asset in banking system and said it may constrain lending.Referring to inf lation trend, it said while core inf lation could come off faster due to weak demand, consumer price rate would ease at a slower pace.

On monetary policy, the RBS opined that a cumulative easing of 125 basis points (1.25 percent) between January, 2013 and March 2014 was likely. “It is likely to be concentrated in the latter part of the year to coincide with the reduction in the twin deficits and improvement in deposit growth.”On the rupee, the report said the Indian unit will be in the range of 53-55 a dollar for the better part of 2013 but may trend lower towards the last quarter.

Never discouraged daughters from anything: Anil KapoorBollywood is a tough industry and maybe his daughters Sonam and Rhea could have chosen something “safer” but proud papa Anil Kapoor says he has always encouraged them to do whatever they wanted to and will continue to back them in their endeavours.“This is a tough industry. You feel that it’s better if your kids choose something else which is safer, which is less speculative, which is less in the face. Here both success and failure are for public scrutiny. In other professions, even if you can’t make it or you change your profession, no one will get to know,” said Anil in an interview.“This is a very, very challenging profession. And they have decided to be in it; so I have encouraged them (daughters); I have never discouraged them,” he added. While Sonam, 27, has made her mark in Bollywood as an actor, Rhea, 25, prefers to stay behind the camera. Apart from being a fashion designer, Rhea was assistant director on “Wake Up Sid” and went on to produce her first film “Aisha” in 2010. She is now working on a new film titled “Herogiri”.Though Sonam and Rhea started working at a young age, they still have fun like all other young girls, said Anil, who also has a son, Harshvardhan.“Instead of wasting time or doing something else, they started working. It is not that they don’t have fun. They have fun the way all the young girls

should have. But they became conscious of work, work ethics and respected work at a very young age, which is very good and that I am very proud of,” said the 53-year-old.Sonam made her Bollywood debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Saawariya”, which failed in the box-office, but Anil is unfazed.“When your first film becomes a blockbuster, it is very dangerous. You stop growing as a person because then you’ve got everything easily. Her film not doing well is also a very good thing according to me. Both Ranbir and Sonam are working and are doing films which they believe in, which they like, with good directors and good producers,” he said.Sonam, who assisted Bhansali

when he was making “Black”, credits her father for being instrumental in shaping her career, but Anil refuses to take the credit.“It is her upbringing which makes her say that she is privileged to be my daughter. But I can say very proudly that whatever she is today is completely because of her. The way she became an assistant and started working. It was not easy. She has come up the hard way,” he said.Anil feels Sonam has chosen a tough path, but is confident that her hard work will pay off.“She works in different projects, which shows her inner confidence. She has chosen a very tough path. But trust me it will be very solid,” said the actor, who will soon be seen in “Race 2″, releasing Jan 25.

Bollywood needs to learn from Tamil film industry: Big BEven though Bollywood is bigger in size, it needs to learn from the Tamil film industry, megastar Amitabh Bachchan said.“Bollywood may be bigger in size and popular, but it still needs to learn from the Tamil film industry. I’ve shot for a few films in Tamil Nadu, and built strong camaraderie with the industry, and in turn have understood how disciplined they are and the affection with which they treated me,” Bachchan said at the closing ceremony of the 10th Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF).“This is something Bollywood needs to learn from them,” said Bachchan, who was the chief guest at the event.“The Indian film industry may be the largest in the world but a major proportion of it consists of the southern film industry. The Tamil film industry is the pivotal part in the south and one can’t ignore it come what may,” the actor said. The CIFF, which began Dec 13, ended Thursday. Nobody has the right to rape me, says Priyanka ChopraActor Priyanka Chopra, who was in Delhi, has spoken strongly about the brutal gangrape in Delhi that has shamed the country. Addressing the media at an event, where she was to launch a website to aid adolescent girls, Priyanka Chopra asked for the strictest punishment for the offenders while urging girls to learn to protect themselves. “It’s a heinous crime. Culprits should be given stringent punishment. As an Indian I feel ashamed of it. I’m in full support of peaceful protests and I think this will make a difference. It’s time for all of us to come together and make a change and not just forget about it in a few days,” she said. So, does she think the culprits should be given death penalty? “I do believe in severe punishment. But it is not a decision that a single person can take, it is something that needs to be debated,” she added. The actor-singer took the opportunity to lash-out against the lot who blame women for provoking men. “A lot of people have said that girls wear provocative clothes or go out at night and drink, which prompts men to take advantage of them. Some even hold Bollywood songs responsible for it. But the only thing responsible for a woman getting raped is a man’s mindset. There is no other reason for it. I could be walking naked, but you still don’t have the right to rape me,” she pointed out.The actor however suggests that women must learn to protect themselves: “Girls should go out in groups and make sure they carry pepper spray or something with which

For a fistful of 100 Crores!

Lachman Balani

Ever since 2008, when Aamir Khan’s Ghajini set the bar of grossing Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 Billion) in domestic ticket sales, everybody has tried to crack that barrier. However, in 2009, it was Aamir Khan’s 3 idiots that once again made the grade. As a matter of fact it grossed over Rs. 200 crores! However in 2010,Salman Khan’s Dabangg and the Ajay Devgn /Kareena Kapoor starrer Golmaal 3 made the grade. In 2011, five movies, Ready, Bodyguard, Ra.One, Don 2 and Singham grossed more than Rs 100 crore . Though there is some dispute on Singham, considering the parallel economy in India, it is a safe bet to assume that it did surpass the Rs 100 crore mark. Bodyguard set a record for being the first movie to gross Rs. 100 crore in a week!2012 has been a banner year for the Rs 100 crore club! 9 movies have made it! Agneepath,

Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, Barfi, Dabangg 2, Bol Bacchan, Son of Sardaar, Ek Tha Tiger and the late Yash

Chopra s Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Ek Tha Tiger broke the 1 week record set by Bodyguard and grossed the benchmark figure

in 5 days! It is now closing in on the record set by 3 Idiots

and may just cross the Rs. 200 crore mark by year end!

Please note these figures are only based on domestic ticket sales in India without including the entertainment tax. If one counts total global sales, what with the popularity of Bollywood movies all over the world, some movies have grossed more than Rs 300 crores! As far as actors go, Salman Khan tops the list having acted in 5 of the Rs 100 crore films, followed by Kareena Kapoor,Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Asin who have acted in 4, and coming in tied at 3rd place are Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra who have acted in 3 of these top grossing movies. In 1913 the first Indian movie Raja Harishchandra was released. Next year, 2013, marks the centennial celebration of the Indian movie industry. I am sure all the directors, actors, script writers and all those involved in this fascinating industry will release some great movies and perhaps we will see at least a dozen movies that will surpass this benchmark figure and maybe go way beyond!Long live Bollywood!

Playing Bijli was mentally draining: Anushka SharmaFor Anushka Sharma, playing the role of Bijlee in Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola was far too complex than the roles she has done till now, and even left her mentally drained. “So far the characters which I have played have been very strong girls so I cannot play them in a relaxed way. I played them the way they were written. Bijli is one of the most complex characters I had to play,” said Anushka.“My character is saying something and means something else, you have to read between the lines. It is a complete dichotomy. For me, the way she (Bijli) was, was not something which I could relate to naturally. I just could not relate to her. She is very vague and vain,” she added.Written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, “Matru Ki Bijli...” also features Imran Khan and veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor. It is due to hit screens Jan 11.But being a Vishal Bhardwaj film, Anushka says she was prepared for the unexpected.“Vishal Bhardwaj’s films are not obvious. That is what I had to learn. Human beings are flawed and he works in this grey area. When a film is not very verbose, it is the in-between spaces you have to fill, which becomes difficult,” said the 24-year-old.“Mentally it was draining. After a few days, I sent a

message saying I don’t think I can do this. Everything which I have done has been simple till now. Here there are too many layers. I would have spoilt it if I had played it linear,” she added. However, the actress agrees she has learnt a lot during the course of the film.“When I started shooting this film, I saw the world in either black or white. After doing this film, somewhere I started accepting things more, and became less judgmental. I started to sympathise with

people. Everyone has made mistakes in life and acceptance of that was what I learnt in the film,” said Anushka, who made her Bollywood debut with 2008 film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”.“Vishal Bhardwaj has seen a certain kind of life. He has seen so much which you and I won’t even think is true, because we have lived in big cities. He has learnt a lot from life and that’s what you see in his films,” she added.

India will bounce back against Pakistan: Sachin Tendulkar

India’s batting needs to fire to tame Pakistan in second ODI

Sachin Tendulkar might have called time on his limited-overs career but he says his heart is still with the team and exuded confidence that India would bounce back in the ODI series against archrivals Pakistan. “Even though I am not part of the team now, my heart is always with the team. I will support the team all the way. And I have no doubt that the team is going to bounce back in the series,” Tendulkar said during his first interaction with the media after his retirement from ODIs. “The team needs good wishes and support from all of us. They need good feedback from everybody so that they can play good cricket,” he said, while also offering the countrymen good wishes in the new year. “Now 2013 has set in and I would like to wish the people of this country happiness and good health,” he added. Tendulkar, who has been holidaying in Mussoorie with his family, thanked fans for the support he got throughout his long career. “It has been a fantastic journey for the last 23 years and I would like to thank everybody for their support. They have supported me in the ups and downs of my career. It means a lot to me. So, it has been a memorable journey,” he said. Asked about his holidaying in Mussoorie, Tendulkar said, “For the last 23 years, the

cricket schedule has been very tight and I could get just a few occasions to spend time with the family. Here I was able to have long walk and appreciate how beautiful the country is and how fabulous the place is.” “I have my privacy here and I thanked the media for this. I played badminton, table tennis, tennis ball cricket also and

watched cricket on television,” he said when asked how he had spent his time during the holiday. Tendulkar has been holidaying in this north Indian resort town with wife Anjali, son Arjun and daughter Sara since December 23 just after announcing his ODI retirement.

Javed Miandad to visit Delhi for final ODI

Wrecked by Pakistani seamers in their opening ODI, India’s under-fire cricketers will have to pull themselves up against the archrivals when they clash in a must-win second one-dayer on Thursday with the form of their top-order batsmen a concern.Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan had sucked the life out of Indian batting when his fiery spell of four for 43 in Chennai mopped up the top order and eventually set up a six-wicket victory for his team. None of the top five batsmen could even reach a double digit figure and if it would not have been for skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s heroic unbeaten 113, things would have been more embarrassing for the hosts who are trailing the three-match series 0-1. Another defeat on Thursday would mean India’s second series loss in less than a fortnight after England recorded their first Test series win (2-1) on Indian soil in 28 years. With odds heavily stacked against them at Eden Gardens, a struggling India will be under tremendous pressure on Thursday to keep the three-match series alive. It remains to be seen how captain Dhoni makes the famed top-order click with both Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir struggling to give a good start to the team. In absence of retired ODI

batsman Sachin Tendulkar, senior pro Sehwag is yet to take up the challenge and lead the batting from the front. Sehwag had a poor 2012, accumulating 217 from 10 matches. Barring a 96 against Sri Lanka last year, he’s yet to fire since his record-breaking 219 in December 2011. The Sehwag conundrum is hurting India’s cause and the Delhi opener will need to come up with a sizzling innings to give India a dazzling start, something that more often than not translates into a big win. Considering that Sehwag, who did not play the T20Is, specially figured in India’s ODI scheme of things, his return to form will be the need of the hour. “When the senior player like Sehwag comes into the side, when he is specially picked for the series, he needs a go ahead,” Dhoni said indicating that Sehwag will remain at his slot.

Virat Kohli too is going through a mini-slump and it has only added to India’s misery. Kohli had injured his foot in Chennai and there’s a cloud of uncertainty over him but India would want the promising right-hander to be back in his usual number three. Barring Yuvraj Singh who had set up India’s series-levelling T20 International win in Ahmedabad with his 36-ball 72, India’s batting has been a picture of inconsistency. But the skipper has backed his famed batting line-up despite the prolonged lean patch. “All of Indian top-order were bowled which means that the deliveries were good. You can’t really question the talent of our top order,” Dhoni said, giving credit to Pakistani pacers in Chennai. “Honestly, there was plenty for the bowlers in the initial period. They bowled in the right areas and exploited the conditions.”

Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has revealed he would be attending the final one-day international of the ongoing limited-over series between the two countries in Delhi on January 6, adding that he has already obtained an Indian visa for the same. In 2005, it was reported in the press that any requests for a visa by Miandad could be turned down due to his son Junaid’s marriage to Mahrukh, the daughter of most-wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim, who is wanted in India in connection with the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case. Miandad claimed that he had faced absolutely no problem in getting an Indian visa, and added that he is quite excited about travelling to Delhi for

the big game. Miandad currently holds the second most powerful position in the PCB, that of

director general, and is directly reporting to the chairman, Zaka Ashraf. Meanwhile, the World Cup winning captain Imran Khan has declined invitation citing political commitments.

LIFE STYLE & RECIPEHAPPY DIWALI

TO ALLHypnosis For Personal ExplorationHypnosis and NLP can help people make changes in their lives at the subconscious level. Once the change is accepted by the subconscious mind unconscious behavioral changes are the result. There are three most common reasons a person comes to see a hypnotist, to stop smoking to lose weight and to reduce the stress in their lives. There are hundreds if not thousands of other potential uses of hypnosis from pain management to improving focus, from improving your communication to the elimination of specific fears. On the edge there are other uses for hypnosis. Uses such as entertainment and past life regression. As New Age thinking and beliefs become more accepted, the edge is beginning to become mainstream. More and more people are looking to hypnosis as a way to learn about themselves. For some this means taking a trip into deep hypnosis, where the veil that separates the conscious and subconscious mind is lifted. There is also the ability to take a trip into a past life. I may have lost some of you already, but for those that have stayed this far let me say that whether you believe in reincarnation or the existence of a soul or not, you can benefit from this type of exploration.Let me explain. There are those that fully believe that the soul is eternal and can choose to experience life as a human being. While typically the past is hidden from the current incarnation there may be instances such as going somewhere for the first time and feeling as if you belong there, or meeting someone new and within minutes having the feeling that you have known them for your entire life, where the veil is at least partially lifted and an experience triggers a thought or a “memory”. Others believe the experience is entirely in the imagination. That somehow a person is simply creating the experience of a past life. We could debate forever and still never reach agreement on this point however it really doesn’t matter. Those that

experience past life regression while in hypnosis tend to learn more about themselves and why they behave the way they do. Whether they believe that they do something in a certain way because it was how they did it in a past life, or their imagination creates a past life experience as a metaphor to explain the behavior, a deeper understanding is reached.More and more books are written about past life experiences of those that have taken the journey. I have yet to read about or work with anyone that claims that they were a historical figure in a previous life. (Sorry to disappoint you)!) It’s certainly possible however the chances are slim. I have worked with people that have experienced hard lives and joyous lives, lives full of love and others filled with loneliness. Lives they have shared with others that are also in their current life perhaps in a different capacity. Like the child that says to her mommy, “do you remember when I was the mommy?” It is a very common occurrence that the life that is experienced has some relationship or meaning for the current life. Once again the subconscious mind can either be directing you toward a past life that has meaning for you now, or is coming up with a story much like a dream to give the explanation you seek or what you need to live a more fulfilling life. One example, through actual experience was the 35-year-old client that had recently lost her husband. In the past life experience in which she was a man her best friend was the same “soul” that in this life was her recently departed husband. The experience was felt strongly enough to bring her to tears. Since a person in hypnosis can easily communicate with others I asked her what was going on and if she would like me to help her distance herself from the experience and the emotional content. She told me to not be concerned and asked for time to be alone with the experience. When asked later about the

experience and the strong emotions that were evident, she smiled and told me that the tears were tears of joy. She told me that it was at that moment that she realized that she would see her husband again. Just knowing this gave her great comfort and helped in her grieving process.Although many have had intense experiences right away it is as likely that it feels like a dream. Like a dream the meaning may not become evident right away. Others may feel as if something happened but may have a hard time recalling the experience. Sometime after the session they may experience an event that triggers the memory and the meaning of the past life. As stated above, this can happen spontaneously for some although hypnosis for most people will help immensely to lift the veil between the conscious and subconscious mind. Past life regressions can be experienced individually or in a group. Whether the content is shared with others or is too personal to share in that setting it is fun to share the hypnosis experience itself. Are you and your friends into trying something new? Call me to host a regression get-together for your friends. Weight loss support groups are forming now. Deepika Padukone spends time with family, thanks to Ranveer SinghEach year Deepika likes to be with her family at this time of the year. However, this year she was committed to shoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela with Ranveer. Ranveer has lately been running from the sets of Ram Leela in Gujarat to the sets of Gunday in Kolkata. The actor injuried himself on the sets of Gunday, which eventually affected Bhansali’s Ram Leela also. “Ranveer Singh was shooting simultaneously for Gunday and Ram Leela. In fact, the whiskered look that he sports for Sanjay Bhansali’s film has been incorporated into his personality in Gunday for the want of a choice. Remember back in 1969 how Rajesh Khanna’s bearded look in Ittefaq had to be incorporated into Do Raaste as the superstar shot simultaneously for both,” said a source. Bhansali was all set to complete the shooting of some dramatic scenes between Ranveer and Deepika, but Ranveer’s accident forced the director to postpone the shoot. And Deepika has quietly taken off to Bangalore to be with her family.

Shahid Kapoor has no time to partyThe new year looks promising, but hectic for Shahid Kapoor. And by the time most of us will have recovered from last night’s celebrations, the actor will already have finished a significant amount of work. It’s a working January 1 for Shahid, and it started at 6 am!Naturally, the actor, who has been busy shooting for Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero (PPNH), did not have time to let his hair down on New Year’s Eve. A source close to the actor reveals that he is working all day today, busy finishing brand endorsement shoots. The source says, “For the last one month, Shahid has been busy shooting in Mysore for PPNH. And even though the makers gave him a break for New Year’s Eve, Shahid had endorsements to wrap up. In his two-day break, he is shooting continuously. He has told the brands to finish off as much work as possible.”As a result, today, Shahid started work as early as 6 am. “He reported to work early in the morning, so that he could start shooting by 8 am,” the source revealed. The actor is in a rush because

he has only January to finish PPNH, before he starts on Prabhudheva’s Rambo Rajkumar next month. In an earlier interview, Shahid had

said, “There’s no break on New Year’s Eve for me. I’ve taken it upon myself to make sure that I just keep working.”

John Abraham to become ‘real action hero’Action films are Bollywood’s new formula for instant success, with every actor worth his salt climbing on to the bandwagon in the last two years. John Abraham, tagged ‘Action Abraham’ by his fans, feels that the industry needs to further improve the quality of action. “What we need is a real action hero. I don’t mean a superhero or a guy who does unbelievable stunts while strung on cables. I mean action using physical strength; and I hope to fill that void. I hope I can justify the Action Abraham tag my fans have given me next year, with action-packed films. I have Race 2, Madras Café (his own production) and Shootout At Wadala. They will take action to another level.” John adds, “There are two kinds of action — where you are kicking around and people say ‘wow’, and the other, where you wear your underwear over your pants and say, ‘I’m a superhero’. That’s not the space I want to occupy. I want to do hardcore, raw action like Force (2011). You have a John

Rambo (Sylvester Stallone’s character) and John McClane (Bruce Willis’ character in Die Hard), then why not a John Abraham?Ask him about acting in multi-starrers, and if actors get insecure about their roles, he says, “I knew what my role would be when I signed Race

2. The film will excite people and my role is something I have revisited after Dhoom (2004). My character is out-and-out negative. As for competition, we all did our jobs, which we were clear about, so on the contrary, we had fun bonding while shooting.”
