WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM FR. LARRY
Dear Friends, Jesus teaches that those who wish to be great must be the servant of all. In the daily routine of family life, power struggles seem unavoidable. Whenever two or more people live together, there will be occasions of disagreement and attempts to exert influence over each other. Today’s Gospel can be an invitation to consider how authority is exercised in your household. There is a temptation to exercise our authority in ways that show our power over others. Especially when conflicts emerge, many of us rely upon the power we believe our role gives to us. Jesus teaches us that there is a more persuasive form of leadership. In these daily challenges we have the opportunity to practice and teach the kind of service and leadership Jesus modeled for us in his ministry and in his passion and death. Take a look at your own family dynamics. Does everyone cooperate when asked? What happens when someone doesn’t cooperate? How are the conflicts that emerge resolved? Observe that conflicts based on power struggles in situations such as these seem unavoidable in family life. In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches how Christians are to show their authority over others. Pray that we may receive honor in God’s eyes by learning to serve others in love. Have a good week! God bless, Fr. Larry
Queridos amigos, Jesús nos enseña que todos aquellos que desean ser grandes, deben ser los servidores de todos. En nuestra rutina familiar cotidiaria, las luchas sobre quien tiene el poder parecen ser inevitables. Cuando dos o más personas viven juntas, habrá ocasiones de desacuerdo e intentos de tartar de influenciar los unos sobre los otros. En el Evangelio de hoy puede ser una invitación a considerar cómo ejercer la autoridad en su hogar. Existe la tentación de ejercer nuestra autoridad de manera que demuestre nuestro poder sobre los demás. Especialmente cuando surgen conflictos, muchos de nosotros dependemos del poder que creemos que nuestro rol nos otorga. Jesús nos enseña que hay una forma de liderazgo más convincente. En estos retos diarios, tenemos la oportunidad de practicar y enseñar el tipo de servicio y liderazgo que Jesús modeló para nosotros en su ministerio y en su pasión y muerte. Veamos la dinámica de su familia. ¿Acaso todos cooperan cuando se les pide? ¿Qué es lo que pasa cuando alguien no coopera? ¿Cómo se resuelven los conflictos que surgen? Observe que los conflictos basados en luchas de poder en situaciones como estas, parecen inevitables en la vida familiar. En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos enseña cómo los cristianos deben demostrar de su autoridad sobre los demás. Oremos para que podamos recibir honor ante los ojos de Dios, al aprender a servir a los demas con amor.

Please use the envelopes next to the bulletins to enroll all the names of your loved ones who are now resting in Eternal Life. You may insert a list if you prefer, sometimes it is hard to write the names on the space provided on the envelopes. We can only type what we can read, so please print clearly! We will create a “Book of the Dead” and your loved ones will be listed in this book. All will be remembered during the entire month of November at every Mass. Your donations are appreciated; thank you! TODAY IS MISSION SUNDAY! Pope Pius XI instituted World Mission Sunday in 1926 at the request of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. It calls us to a renewed commitment to our responsibility to spread the Gospel message. Since the Church is by her very nature missionary, evangelization constitutes a duty and a right for every one of her members. The Lord calls us to go beyond ourselves and to share with others the blessings we have received, beginning with the gift of faith, which cannot be considered as a private privilege but must be seen as a gift to be shared with those who have not yet received it. Pope John Paul II, in 1992, stated that such activity will benefit faith itself since faith is strengthened when it is shared. Please be generous in your donation today. Thank you and God bless!
¡HOY ES DOMINGO MUNDIAL DE LAS MISIONES! En 1926 a petición de la Sociedad para la Progagación de la Fe, el Papa Pío XI instituyó el Domingo Mundial de las Misiones. Esto es para hacernos un llamado a renovar nuestro compromiso con nuestra responsabilidad de difundir el mensaje del Evangelio. La Iglesia por su propia naturaleza es misionera, la evangelización constituye un deber y un derecho para cada uno de sus miembros. El Señor nos llama a ir más allá de nosotros mismos y compartir con los demas las bendiciones que hemos recibido, comenzando con el don de la fe, que no se puede considerar como un privilegio privado, sino que se debe ver como un don, que debe compartirse con aquellos que aún no lo han recibido. El Papa Juan Pablo II, en 1992, declaró que dicha actividad beneficiará a la fe misma, ya que la fe se fortalece cuando se comparte. If you are a trusted parent, your child’s friend may come to you with secrets. What do you do if a child tells you about abuse? As an adult, it’s critical that you remain calm, and don’t overreact. Child victims are often frightened and confused, and your confusion and anger does not help their situation. Your concern and support, however, will affirm the child in important ways and can help begin the healing process for a child victim who has suffered at the hands of a predator. TEENS & COLLEGE STUDENTS - PLAN TO ATTEND “INSPIRATION” AT MAGIC MOUNTAIN!
We are offering a very special “field trip” to Magic Mountain on Saturday, November 3rd - and we invite teens and college students to join us! The ticket price is $65 includes transportation, your ticket into Magic Mountain for the day where you can enjoy all the rides, as well as your ticket into the “Inspiration” event that evening. “Inspiration” brings young Catholics together for Mass, prayer and adoration in a way that most youth have not experienced their faith.
