WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM FR. LARRY
Dear Friends,
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The so-called "Great
Commission" in Matthew's Gospel is Christ's command to his disciples to baptize
disciples in the name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Thus it summarizes the three
major themes of Matthew’s Gospel: (1) Supreme and universal authority has been
given to Jesus by his heavenly Father; therefore he far surpasses every other
human being and deserves the exalted titles given to him. (2) The disciples are to
share their faith with all people, including non-Jews. (3) The promise of Jesus’
continuing presence with the disciples and their successors brings to fulfillment
the name “Emmanuel” (“God is with us”) given to Jesus at conception. Jesus
reassured his disciples that he would sustain them in their mission to preach the
gospel to all nations. The Father’s love, and the Spirit of the Risen Christ continues
be with the Church to guide and protect it until the end of time.

Hoy celebramos la solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad. Hoy en el Evangelio de
Mateo, "La Gran Comisión" es el mandato de Cristo a sus discípulos
comisionándoles para bautizar a los discípulos en el nombre de Padre, Hijo y
Espíritu Santo. Por lo tanto, resume los tres temas principales del Evangelio de
Mateo: (1) Su Padre celestial le ha dado autoridad suprema y universal a Jesús;
por lo tanto, supera con creces a cualquier otro ser humano y merece los títulos
exaltados que se le hayan otorgado. (2) Los discípulos deben compartir de su fe
con todas las personas, incluyendo a los no judíos. (3) La promesa de la presencia
de Jesús continua con los discípulos y sus sucesores para llevar a cumplimiento el
nombre "Emmanuel" ("Dios está con nosotros") dado a Jesús en la concepción.
Jesús aseguró a sus discípulos que los mantendría en su misión de predicar el
evangelio a todas las naciones. El amor del Padre y el Espíritu de Cristo
Resucitado continúan estando con la Iglesia para guiarlo y protegerlo hasta el fin
de los tiempos.

MEMORIAL PEW DEDICATIONS To date, we have completed two memorial pew dedications for deceased parishioners as requested by their families. The donation for a pew dedication is $1,500. The two individuals who currently have pews dedicated to them each donated a sum greater than that amount when we installed the new pews back in 2012. If you can show proof of your family’s donation to the replacement pews, we are happy to adjust the dedication amount. We will have the engraved plate made and then set a time for your family to be present so Father can bless it and we can install it in the location of your choice. MUSIC MINISTRY – “PENNIES FROM HEAVEN”
We are collecting “Pennies from Heaven” to provide music camp scholarships for our youth choir members. These camps are very resourceful and important to help our youth expand and enhance their love of music and of sharing this gift with their parish community. Any spare change you have can be dropped off before or after Mass in the water bottle near the piano. Your support is very appreciated – thank you!

FATHERS’S DAY NOVENA – ENROLL YOUR FATHER TODAY! It’s time to enroll all the men who are “dads” to us in our lives in the annual Father’s Day Novena. The Father’s Day envelopes can be used for living or deceased enrollees. If you need a card to give to the special someone, these are available in English or Spanish at the Candle Table. Please return these envelopes with your donation on Sundays in the offering basket, at the Candle Table or during the week at the Parish Office. The Father’s Day Novena will begin on Saturday, June 16. Thank you.

EL SALVADOR GROUP Your assistance is requested by buying tickets and participating in the TV Raffle that is being sponsored by Fr. Miguel and the El Salvador Group. There is not one, but there are three 55” LG or Vizio Smart TVs being raffled off after the 1:15 pm Mass on Sunday, June 10th. Tickets cost $5.00 each. You could be one of the lucky three winners! DID YOU KNOW? Talk to your teens about handling workplace violence Many teens will get their first job while still in high school. Building work ethic is great and necessary skill, but teens to be informed to about how best to handle possible workplace violence. Coworkers are not always thoroughly screened, and your teen could face another employee’s rage or anger that could possible put them in danger. Talk to your teens about warning signs—short tempers, intimidation, drug use—and about how to remove themselves when they feel unsafe in a situation, and how to report any concerns they have, to a safe adult. Memorial Day Prayer Dear Lord,
on this day, we remember those who have served us by protecting our
freedoms. When we celebrate our long weekend
with our friends and family, help us remember,
that our freedom to speak of you, and our freedom to worship you,
and our freedom to do that which we ought to do,
have all been bought at the price and sacrifice
of many lives. Your Son died for our eternal life in heaven.
So too, your children died protecting us here on earth.
Help us be mindful this weekend and always of the sacrifices made by those in uniform
for all our freedoms.
Amen.
