Letter from Fr. Thomas Vellappallil

Dear Father Gorsic,

In the name of the La Salette Missionaries and especially myself, Fr. Thomas Vellappallil, I wish to thank you and the people of St. Andrew the Apostle for your hospitality, generosity and prayers during the mission appeal on June 18-19.

We thank you for the opportunity to bring a renewed awareness of our Church’s Mission to your people and to bring their love and support to the needy of the mission countries served by the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette.

Sincerely yours in our Lord and Lady, Fr. Thomas Vellappallil, MS Director

We are excited to announce that Waterleaf and Woman’s Choice Services are combining forces and strategically aligning!

Through the combined efforts of blending these two premiere pregnancy centers, we will best be able to provide and expand our parent education offerings at the WCS Bolingbrook site and the excellent, comprehensive medical services at the Waterleaf Clinic in Aurora.

Waterleaf is strategically located just blocks away from the largest abortion provider in the Midwest. Pregnancy testing, ultrasounds and STD testing and treatment will be provided at the Waterleaf Clinic in Aurora.

The WCS Bolingbrook facility will become the Waterleaf Education & Resource Center and will ensure our pregnant clients have the ongoing life skills and material support necessary for them to succeed.

The WCS Lombard location will close.

For more information, contact Mary Griffith, Director of Development at 630-701-6270. Website: www.waterleafwc.org

Pro-Life Action League -- “Face the Truth” Tour

The Pro-Life Action League invites you to join the upcoming “Face the Truth” Tour, an annual pro-life public education initiative that reaches tens of thousands of people with the reality of abortion.

On Friday, July 8, pro-life volunteers will hold signs at three major intersections in the Joliet area, depicting the beauty of life in the womb as well as the horrible injustice done to the unborn victims of abortion.

Please consider taking part in the Tour at any of the following locations:

9:00am to 10:30am at W. Jefferson St. and N. Larkin Ave. in Joliet

11:30am to 1:00pm at Route 59 and Black Road in Shorewood

3:00pm to 4:30pm at Route 59 and Canton Farm Road in Joliet

The Face the Truth Tour changes hearts and minds, guides post-abortive women and men to healing and peace, and saves babies from abortion. For more information on this powerful pro-life campaign, including the complete Tour schedule, visit ProLifeAction.org, or call 773-777-2900.

We visit in their homes, in the family setting, where we listen, offer comfort, and render temporary help if appropriate.

Please do not hesitate to call our helpline if you or someone you know needs temporary assistance.

PEACE

The greeting of peace at Mass adds substance to a message of today’s readings: peace is relational. When we greet in peace the person near us at Mass, we share the touch of a handshake or embrace, sincere eye contact, and friendly words.

The scriptures speak of a similar peace. The first reading from Isaiah describes the peace of the holy city, Jerusalem, a place of prosperity and comfort where the “LORD’s power shall be known to his servants” (Isaiah 66:14c).

The Christian understanding of peace changes slightly. Paul writes of the “peace and mercy” on all who are created anew. Jesus describes a feeling of peace that will rest on those who accept his disciples and their message.

Peace is both an absence of strife and a personal blessing. May we always and sincerely bring peace to our own lives as we share it with others.

TOTUS TUUS NEW SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM

St. Andrew the Apostle July 16-22, 2016

WHAT IS TOTUS TUUS? Totus Tuus is a week-long “parish mission” for Catholic youth whereby seminarians and college students proclaim the Gospel and promote the Catholic faith through evangelization, catechesis, apologetics, Christian witness, the sacraments, Marian devotion, Eucharistic worship, and FUN!

Totus Tuus seeks to inspire in young people a true longing for holiness, a deep desire for daily conversion, and openness to their vocation by constantly challenging them to give themselves entirely to Christ through Mary and by continually strengthening their prayer lives in imitation of Her.

TOTALLY YOURS Totus Tuus, a Latin phrase meaning “totally yours,” was the motto of St. John Paul II. Taken from St. Louis de Montfort’s True Devotion to Mary, it signifies our desire to give ourselves entirely to Jesus Christ through the hands of our Blessed Mother Mary. It also expresses our effort to give all that we have to every young person we encounter.

¡A mi casa!

“Inspiring Growth in Knowledge and Faith”

Be sensuous. Be bold. Be sent. Two great stories are heard today. Isaiah invites us to look around and notice how a mother comforts her child. God says to Israel: “That’s exactly how I comfort you.” And God says it to us today! So let us be bold and be like God. Give comfort. Luke invites us to go ahead of the Lord, just like the 72 sent

out to the nations. Say “Peace.” Then take care of the sick. Can we be bold just like them? • Who needs comfort today? What will I do? • Who is sick? What peace and comfort will I bring? • How will I be bold?

GRANT ETERNAL REST, LIGHT AND PEACE TO ALL FAITHFUL DEPARTED: Gene Nowak

Please call the parish office by Monday at (815) 886-4165 for the name of your loved one to be placed for 3 weeks on our short term prayer list. Also, please call the parish office, if you are hospitalized and would like a visit from our hospital ministry team or homebound and in need of communion.

Hospital Visitation of Parishioners

Please remember that if you or any family members find yourselves in a hospital, be sure to let them know you are a parishioner at St. Andrew’s — it doesn’t hurt to say it a few times, either! Whenever we priests, deacons or Eucharistic Ministers come to visit, we check the hospital list of parishioners printed under “St. Andrew.” But if you’re not listed as a parishioner of St. Andrew, we won’t know you’re even there! We do not want to miss you! You can always call us, too, at the office, ext. 301. Thank you. May the Lord Jesus be with you all your days, to love and be loved by Him, to honor and serve Him, as He honors and serves us!
