Pray the Rosary in the Month of May In this month of May, I would like to recall the importance and beauty of the prayer of the holy rosary. Reciting the Hail Mary, we are led to contemplate the mysteries of Jesus, that is, to reflect on the key moments of his life, so that, as with Mary and St. Joseph, he is the center of our thoughts, of our attention, and our actions. It would be nice if, especially in this month of May, we could pray the holy rosary together in the family, with friends, in the parish, or some prayer to Jesus and the Virgin Mary!

-POPE FRANCIS

WEEKDAY MASS SCHEDULE CHANGE

Beginning Wednesday, MAY 22nd, morning Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 AM until school resumes in August. Friday, MAY 24TH at 8:00 AM will be the last school Mass of the year. There will also be a 7:00 AM Mass that morning as well.

Director of Adult Faith Formation, Michael Lewandowski, will present on the life of St. Andre Bessette. Born in 1845 in the province of Quebec, Andre lost his father when he was just ten years old, and his mother died two years later. His siblings would be sent to live with various relatives and friends. Andre was not educated and had difficulty with a number of professions because of his fragile health. Andre also he had a strong and ardent love for St. Joseph. After joining the Congregation of the Holy Cross, Brother Andre was given the simple task of being the porter. At this humble post, Andre began to touch the lives of countless people. Miraculous healings began to take place. Andre would rub oil from a lamp that burned near St. Joseph on many of the sick that came seeking his help. He always attributed all cures to Joseph. His meekness, love of God, and devotion to St. Joseph brought new life and faith to countless souls. To this day, the pilgrims have not stopped, nor have the miracles.

"Beth" came to Waterleaf very conflicted about her unplanned pregnancy. She was married and already parenting three children and she and her husband were contemplating abortion. She met with the Waterleaf team and was provided a free ultrasound. While she was moved by seeing the heartbeat, she was still conflicted as to what she was going to do when she left. We continued follow-up with her and provided referrals for community assistance. She and her husband made the decision to parent and she recently gave birth to a healthy boy. When we contacted her, Beth stated; “I'm so glad I made the right decision", "I couldn't imagine giving this precious baby up."

Matrimonio.

For Widowed Men & Women

Dates/Locations: June 22 & 23 St. Julie, Tinley Park July 20 & 21 Holy Family, Inverness September 7 & 8 Mary Queen of Heaven, Elmhurst

After a divorce or a death of a spouse, what used to be US is no longer. It is a life transition that is neither welcome nor easy. And, it is necessary to transition to ME. New Beginnings is a self-help support group where people help people through the difficult experience of death of a spouse, divorce, or in the process of divorce. We are a non-profit ministry of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville. Our focus is on the Spiritual, Intellectual and Emotional growth of our members. Our mission is to provide a supportive and safe environment for all our members, as they adjust to their new roles as a single person again. There are many types of support groups for the divorced and widowed. We encourage you to give us a chance and see if we fit your needs. Members say that New Beginnings has "saved my life". We meet weekly from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings at St. Raphael in Naperville. Come to the back of the building and look for the parish offices. Signs will be posted.

If you’ve been widowed, you know that it feels as though a part of your heart has been torn out. When the time does come that you make a conscious decision to find hope in your life and you want to try to find some joy in your life, the Joyful Again! Widowed retreat is there to help. This ecumenical weekend program is healing, transitional and supportive – depending on where people are in their personal journey through the loss. MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS

Diocese requirements include a formal engagement preparation period of at least six months before the date of the weddings and attendance in a marriage preparation program. St. Andrew requires either the bridge, groom, or parents of either to be registered as parishioners for at least three months before contacting us to set a date. There are a number of additional requirements. Please contact the Parish Office for additional information.

FUNERALS

Arrangements for a funeral are usually made through the Funeral Director at a funeral home of your choice.

PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK

Hospitals do not inform churches when parishioners are patients. You should ask an immediate family member to contact the Parish Office to request a visit from a priest when sickness occurs or death is imminent. Please contact Barb Sanders to arrange for Communion to be brought to the sick at home, to a hospital, or nursing home.

I would like to have my house blessed.

Please contact me to make arrangements.

The St. Andrew We Care Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 10:00 am. until 12:30 p.m. for any eligible family in Romeoville in need of food assistance.

Our pantry is open only to Romeoville residents so proof of residency and an ID must be shown upon sign-in each week. If you are a parishioner of St. Andrew and you find yourself in need of food assistance, you are more than welcome to come to the We Care Food Pantry also. Proof of residency is a utility bill with your name and address on it plus your Driver’s License or State of Illinois ID. That must be brought in each time you come for food assistance.

The Pantry is located at 219 Arlington. For further information, please contact Shirley Grzenia at (630) 945-1317. This is the new phone number to call for food pantry inquiries and assistance. Thank you and God Bless.
