Dear sir/ madam,
I am applying for a Teacher position in the Faculty of Architecture of your University in Istanbul.
I Hold a Bachelor's degree from Damascus University, 2000, and had a GOOD
grade and the sixth order out of 142 students graduated on that academic year. I hold also a Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Design in 2001 and have a
VERY GOOD grade and the second order.
I hold a Master degree in architectural design from Damascus University in
2014-2015; the thesis is about “the roll and importance of space in
architectural composition” and have a VERY GOOD grade.
I Practiced architectural work in several institutions before I started my own
practice in 2006, along with academic teaching ,since 2004 at the Private
University of Sciences and Arts (PUSA) for three years, where I have taught
Architectural and Urban Design , Theories of Architecture and AutoCAD under
the supervision of distinct professors from the University of Krakow in Poland.
Then I moved to the Arab International University (AIU) in 2007, and basically I
have been teaching Architectural Design for the first year under the supervision
of Dr. Mohammed Burhan Tayara since then.
The teaching material provided by the League of AIU for Architectural Design is
characterized by the focus on understanding the basics and principles of
architectural design. Simplifying the design principles and putting them into
practice through a variety of projects, in English language .Enclosed to the
letter, I attached some examples of the students work.
Personally I benefited from these principles and has participated in an
architectural competition and got the fourth prize, enclosed also to this letter.
Additionally, I have good Office and computer skills throughout my work
experience in different engineering institutions including governmental.
I have become a certified trainer by attending a TOT (training of trainers) course
in 2006, in addition to other skills development workshops, which helped me to
improve my communication skills, especially with students and supported my
teaching experience.
My volunteering experience in charitable organizations improved my skills in
organizing events and workshops, by attending and organizing different training
events.
I am very happy to communicate with your university because of its high
reputation and I am pleased to share with you my modest experience in case
you accept my application in the beginning of first coming semester
Please find enclosed my CV, my portfolio, and the contact information for three
professors as referees. And I am ready to send any further information or
translation for certificates if needed. I am available for interview at any time
according to a prescheduled appointment, and looking forward to hearing from
you shortly.
Yours sincerely
Sima Al Kanawati

Design Concept:
1-The idea of this project is about a plane moving in the opposite
clockwise along the route determined by a curved line key.
The frequency of this plane on the track generates a space eventually
gives the form of the building.
2-Path selection in this way came to
serve many things:
• curved shape gives flexibility to the
configuration, which reflects the
feelings of the users familiarity
towards it.
• Movement of the path in this way
creates an inner space within the
cluster aimed at the introduction of
nature into the building and creates
a vacuum in sympatric within a project.
3- The inner space has become the beating heart of the project because
of being surrounded by the functions which are open to it. And can be
reached from any, so it can be called interactive space.

Students work at Arab International University
1- Summer semester 2009-2010 , Architectural Design
This is a summary of the first year’s students work during the summer semester
2009-2010, which I participated in preparing the course plan and
exercises.
The course had tree access, the volumetric composition, functional design and
architectural drawing
The students started to work on creating a composition out of a number of cubes
on a basic structural grid.
Then, on a grid in a larger scale, each student presented his design and was
discussed with teachers and colleagues.
After discussions, students draw their final design and presented it for evaluation
The second stage was to study the
functional design, starting with
getting familiar with the personal
measurements and body proportions,
Then, each student
worked on the primary
unit form (the cube)
and designed a
residential apartment,
working on interior
and exterior design
The final presentation was concentrating on architectural hand drawing
techniques
2- Students work from different years in design course:
First year students between 2007-20011
creating a
volume using
serial planes
Creating a volume
using different unit
forms
Using triangular structure to create a
volume where the function is later
studied as a religion studies complex
3- Students work from different years in free hand drawing

4- Students work from different years in interior design course:
Private University for Science and Arts students work between
2004-2007
Residential complex in Palmyra- Syria. 3rd year students Characteristics of
residential function in a desert climate
Urban design projects 4th year , Residential complex, introduction to urban esign
