SETTING UP YOUR SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB A 10.1

Before starting, your store should already be setup with an autoserve1 account with at least one user and one inspection created.

Overview of this Setup Guide
• Basic setup of tablet’s operating system settings.
• Configuring settings: screen rotation and timeout, camera and camcorder resolutions, keyboard, security and notifications.
• Installing applications
• Bookmarking Autoserve1.com.
• Cleaning up Home Screens.
• Testing VIN Scanner.
Turning Tablet Sideways
If it hasn’t already been done, rotate the tablet onto its side making sure
the face buttons are on the right-hand side.
Select Language
Click the drop down list to select the language you want the tablet to operate with.
Afterwards, click Start.
Configure Date and Time
Set the time zone and date, and click Next.
If this screen does not show up, skip this page.
Turn off Predictive text
Click on the Smart typing, then click on the slider to remove Predictive text.

Allow Apps of Unknown Sources
Go to Lock screen and security, and move the slider to enable Unknown sources.
Click on the Home button.

Your device will warn about files being potentially harmful.
Do not worry about this, and click OK.

Swipe down to pull down the notification tray. When a download is complete,
click on it to begin installation.

When the installation finishes, click Done.
Repeat these steps for every app starting from pulling down the notification tray.

On the Chrome browser, open the address bar and
type in the following URL: app.autoserve1.com, and click Go

When you have clicked the star it will turn Blue meaning it is booked marked.
Removing Home screens
Swipe the screen to the left until you see this blank page
with a + symbol. Click on this screen to add a new home screen.

Swipe the screen to the right until you return back to the first Home screen.

Press and hold the home screen, then drag it to the Remove bin. When the home screen has a red outline, let go of the screen to drop it into the Remove bin.

Do the same with any other home screens (except the blank screen you just made).
Adding apps to the blank screen
To add an app to the home screen, press and hold on any app and drop it in the home screen.

When an app is held onto, your screen should look like this. You can drop the app anywhere on the screen, but make sure it stays within the home screen border (illustrated above with the red border).

Your home screen should now have Camera. Click on the Applications List icon.

Add Gallery (1), Settings (2), QuickSupport (3), Speedtest (4), Wifi Analyzer (5) to the Home screen.
There are more apps grouped together, Click on the Google group.

These are the apps that should be on the screen now. It does not have to be in this order,
but to rearrange the Apps, press and hold any one, and drop it in a different position.
Test VIN Scanner
The home screen should have the following 7 apps now. To finish this guide, we
will verify the VIN scanner is working. Click on Chrome and open up AutoServe1.
Log into your store
Click on the Login and Password textboxes to fill in
your store credentials. Click the Log In button when complete.
Open up an inspection page
Once logged in choose a Service Advisor. You should now be looking at the dashboard. Click the Scan VIN button.
Try scanning a VIN
Make sure the entire barcode is covering most of the scanner’s red line.
Try scanning the VIN above on your tablet.
VIN Scan Successful
This will appear if the VIN is detected. You may need to reposition the
camera to detect the VIN code more easily. Hit OK if the VIN is correct.
Setup Complete!
Congratulations! You have successfully completed
setting up your tablet for AutoServe1.
