OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE SETON COMMUNITY

All Saints Youth Ministry proudly presents their WINTER CABARET this Friday and Saturday, February 1 & 2 held in the All Saints PAC. Come support many of your fellow Seton classmates who are performing! The Winter Caberet is three shows in one: It’s a Broadway Revue, A One-Act Play and the FOOLS! Improv Comedy Troupe. The Broadway review will showcase selections from some of the best musicals with solos, duets and toe-tapping song and dance numbers. Next is a fun a one-act play called How to Succeed in Medicine Without Really Trying, which is competing in the Diocesan One-Act Play and Film Festival. Then it’s the FOOLS! Improv Comedy Troupe, where the audience gets to be part of the show. Finally, the evening closes with a dessert-like second help-ing of the Broadway revue. The show starts at 7:30pm (doors open at 7:00pm). Tickets sold at the door – $8/youth (17 and under) and $12/adults. Come join us!

Terry Beatley, a Pro-Life Speaker will be coming to St Raymond’s on Thurs, Feb 7th at 7PM. The history of how the American mindset came to accept abortion is a sociological study in itself. A primary point of the presentation is that the evil was planned and plotted decades ago specifically to undermine Catholic doctrine - oftentimes by prominent Catholics in a position to affect others. See https://www.hosea4you.org/ for her remarkable story. Click here for the flyer.

All Saints Church is hosting a Night to Shine, Sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, on February 8th, 2019. Night to Shine is an unforgettable Prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs. We are so grateful to have had so much help from the Seton Community in 2018, and hope to have as many of you back as volunteers as possible for this coming year. With your help, we hope to make this an unforgettable night for the at-tendees and the volunteers! We need red carpet volunteers. Please come to cheer

our guests on the red carpet. Come anytime from 5:45—7PM. You don’t have to come the whole time. Our guests love this part of the night and all are wel-come to cheer them on! If you have any questions please email, [email protected].

Facebook Post by Mary Remington

A few weeks ago, I got to see a former 23 week old baby in our NICU go home after spending many weeks with us. He

went home happy and healthy—no tubes, no extra oxygen, despite being on respiratory support for a very long time.

He was born months too early, and could have been aborted in most states. His mother could have said it wasn’t a

good time for a child and that it would be too much of a burden (financially, physically, emotionally, etc). She could

have diminished every ounce of value he held just by saying “I don’t want him right now.”

I spend hours with premature babies every week. I’ve taken care of babies born as early as 22 weeks (5 1/2 months).

They may only be 1-2 pounds. But their hearts are beating, their lungs are breathing. Their brains continue to devel-

op. They react to our touch. They feel pain. They respond to their mother’s voices. Their vital signs and temperature

stabilize when their moms hold them. They are human beings.

People make the excuse that abortion is okay when the mothers life is in danger. However there is never any medical

reason that requires an abortion to save the mothers life. If the mom’s life is truly in danger because of the pregnan-

cy, the treatment is to end the pregnancy by *delivering* the baby, not killing it.

For example, many mothers have pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH, aka high blood pressure) that can lead to

seizures and put both the mom and baby’s life at risk. The only cure? Ending the pregnancy. However this does not

mean killing the baby through abortion. You can end the pregnancy by delivering the baby, allowing both mom and

baby to live. Many of the babies in our NICU are there precisely because of this reason. Isn’t this a much more safe,

and beautiful alternative than death of an innocent baby?

My job is dedicated to “clumps of cells” who, according to New York (and most of the world), have no value. Society

tells us they aren’t human beings, they’re “just fetuses.” Well, every patient in our NICU is a fetus, and each one of

them is very much alive.

The value of a human life doesn’t change based on the circumstances. A mother’s desire (or lack thereof) for her baby

does not determine the baby’s worth. An infant conceived through rape or incest is not less worthy than a baby con-

ceived between a loving couple. A baby born with a cardiac defect, or an extra chromosome, or a genetic anomaly, has

inherent dignity as a human being.

I’m saddened and disturbed by the law NY passed yesterday. But after attending the march for life last Friday, I still

have so much hope. The prolife generation is more alive than ever and it’s inspiring to be around so many people

fighting for the most basic fundamental right. Until the day when life in the womb is respected by all, I’ll continue

praying for the innocent babies who fall victim to abortion and taking care of all the little fighters in the NICU.
