OPPORTUNITY CLASSES Opportunity classes are for entry level riders of any age. Horses/riders entered only in these classes are exempt from Federation fees, membership requirements including drugs and medication fees, horse registration and memberships. Riders are not required to pay a show pass fee. Horses and riders can cross enter into rated/recognized classes, but if other classes are entered, all application fees and memberships are required.

Open to all Junior riders. To be eligible a rider must complete the course in two or more classes over fences. Each rider is to be judged on horsemanship throughout the Hunter and/or Jumper Divisions. Entry must be made IN ADVANCE on the official entry blank.

Open to riders who are not competing in classes with fences higher than '9". Round will consist of at least fences at ' " with at least two changes in direction. Two judges will use the same open numerical system and scores will be averaged. The top riders will return for Round , a course of at least fences with one USEF test - as part of the course. Scores from Round will be averaged and added to the scores from Round . After Round , any riders having less than points separating them from the leader will be required to perform additional tests at the discretion of the judges. All riders will remain in the ring with no additional schooling allowed. The final work-off score will not be announced and will be added to the rider's total score. Ties not involving first place will be decided by the judges. The Champion will receive a custom cooler: Reserve Champion and third place will receive special awards. Ribbons through th place.

Open to Junior and Amateur riders. The final round of the division will be the first round of the Classic. Horses must have entered, shown, and completed the course in at least two of the respective hunter division classes over fences at this show. Horses will be judged on performance and soundness; suitability and manners count. The class will be scored under the open numerical judging system, and shown over a course of approximately jumps. The twelve horses with the highest scores from the first round will return to jump a second round over a different course. In the event of equality in the first round, all equal scores will return for a second round. Scores will be averaged from both rounds to determine the winners. To be eligible, a horse must have entered, shown and completed the course in at least two classes over fences in the Junior or Amateur Owner Hunter Divisions at this show. Horses entered are subject to examination by the Official Show Veterinarian. To be scored under the open numerical judging system. At least the top if available, or one- third of entries will return to jump a second round in reverse order of their scores in the first round; lowest score going first and highest score going last. In case of ties, order of those tied will be drawn. Scores will be averaged from both rounds to determine the winners. In case of a tie for first place only, the tied horses will jump a third round over a shortened course to break the tie. In all other ties, the prize money will be added and divided equally and riders will toss a coin for ribbons. The Classic will not count toward a Show Champion. Eligibility - Any rider who has qualified for the PCHA Horsemanship Class Finals during the year following the previous PCHA Horsemanship Class Finals competition. The same horse must be ridden through all phases of the competition. However, due to illness or injury of the horse, a rider may petition to ride a substitute horse, but this must be approved by the Appeals Committee consisting of the Manager, the Chief Steward, the Technical Delegate, and the Official Horse Show Veterinarian.
Schooling - Only material provided or previously approved by the organizing committee may be used, and must be available for all competitors to use while warming up. Starting thirty 0 minutes prior to the competition and while the class is in progress, medal horses may jump in the designated schooling area only. This rule includes the Finals Warm-Up Round. If a medal competition horse jumps in an area other than the designated schooling area during that time, the medal class exhibitor will get a zero score for that round. Anyone can ride in the designated schooling area on a medal finalist’s horse.
Course - Three rounds, consisting of a course of at least eight fences about ' " in height. There must be one combination, at least changes of direction and tests USEF - included as part of the original course. Course designer s must confer with the judges during the course walk set aside for them exclusively. Judges should review the course and suggested tests, and may make modifications in conjunction with the course designer prior to the general course walk and posting of the course.
Judging - There will be judges using the same open numerical system. Judges may use whole numbers or any fraction thereof; however, if necessary judges may use the same score more than once. The rider's score in each round will be an average of each judge's score. During the three rounds, the judges will sit apart. If a fourth round work-off is necessary, the judges will sit together.
Competition -
Round : All eligible riders; order of go will be drawn. Ribbons awarded through th place. Ties will remain tied and riders will flip for ribbons.
Round : All riders will return for Round . The order of go for Round will be a simple jumper rotation of the first round, regardless of any scratches. Example: If there is a class of riders in the st round, divide by and round to the higher number . Thus, the nd round will run with th through th followed by st through rd. Ribbons awarded through th place. Ties remain tied and riders will flip for ribbons.
Round : The top riders from Rounds and and any additional riders with a score of or better will be eligible to ride in Round . The average from Round will be averaged with the combined average from Rounds and . The rider's combined average will be used to establish the order of go - lowest first, highest last. In case of ties, the order will be the order of Round . After completion of the final round, any riders having less than three points separating them from the leader will be required to perform additional tests at the discretion of the judges.
