Become an Acolyte! - Are you between the ages of 10 and 14 years old? If so, consider being an Acolyte! Every service, the Acolyte “brings the light of Jesus” into the church by lighting the altar candles. Sr. High Youth/College Age Bible Study - A new Bible Study for 11th

and 12th grade students and recent high school graduates meets on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. in Room 110. No registration is necessary. Join us for interesting discussion and fellowship!

Faith Journey - This new group for Generation Xers will begin on Sept. 25th from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in Room 201. We will meet the 2nd and 4th

Sundays of the month for study and reflection on our faith and culture. Examining current events in the context of our Christian beliefs will be our focus. Childcare is offered with pre-registration. For more information, please contact Carol Coleman at [email protected] or (480) 838-1446.

Explorer’s Class concludes its study this morning on “The Ordinary Radicals,” a movement of Evangelical Christians with a heightened passion for social change. Next Sunday, Jane Baker will begin a series on “Justice for the Poor”. Featuring Jim Wallis of Soujourner’s Magazine, this dvd/discussion series will focus on what the Bible says about how we should treat the “poor” among us. Student books will be available in the class. 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room.

Adult Bible Study Class meets at 9:00 a.m. in Room 112. We are currently discussing Genesis. If you are interested or have any questions, contact Cathy Smoot at (480) 497-2948.

Contemporary Issues - This 10:30 a.m. adult class is studying the origins of the Bible, how it has evolved over time, and how it is interpreted today. This journey of discovery about the rich traditions and mysteries from archeological discoveries and Biblical scholarship, will

help us explore and understand how this book has become the most influential writings in human history. Join us as we read, discuss and learn about the Bible’s ancient beginnings and our present day interpretations.

When Children Ask About God: A Guide for Parents Who Don’t Always Have All the Answers - Monday Moms & Dads Group will begin a study of this book by Harold Kushner on Oct. 17 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. in Room 111. Childcare will be offered with pre-registration. For more information or to pre-register for childcare, contact Carol at [email protected] or 480-838-1446.

Brown Bag Lunch - Come join us for Brown Bag Lunch every Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Bring your own lunch and socialize with people from the church. We always have a good time! Come and be part of this fun group!

Singles at Dayspring -Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. September 25 - Mimi’s - NE corner of Chandler Blvd. and Price (101 Freeway).

Connections is a Dayspring mission that advocates for the intrinsic worth of all persons, regardless of their sexual orientation. It offers support to and education about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons and their families. It also hosts the Tempe PFLAG group meeting each first Friday of the month. Our clergy can provide the names of “Connections” members for you to contact.

Koinonikos Schedule - The next deadline date for the newsletter is October 15, and will include events in the month of November.

Blood Drive - Give the Gift of Life!On Sunday, October 9, Dayspring will be hosting the Fall Blood Drive. The Bloodmobile will be in the Church parking lot from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. To schedule your life saving appointment, please stop by the table in the courtyard on Sunday, September 25 or October 2, or contact Larry Haubrock at (480) 966-5435.
