The work below is set out over the whole week. Please do as much as your child is comfortable with. All the work is on these pages, these can be printed off or written out on blank paper. Some of the work, can be

pointed at on the screen, if that suits best. As always I wish to stress the importance of play time. If you child is playing away by themselves or with their

Days 1 - 4: Alphabet – Upper and Lower case letters

Days 1 - 4: The Alphabet / Phonics / Handwriting Ø Ask the children to say their alphabet. Ø Go on to YouTube and sing a song about the alphabet. Ø Just like at school say the letter name for the capital (big) letters and the letter sound for the small letters. Ø Print and cut out the grid above or write out your own letter cards. Ø Mix them up and ask the children to match them up. Ø Challenge – Can you say a word which starts with your letter sounds? E.g., s – snake, e – egg. Ø Challenge – Can you think of a person’s name or a place you know that starts with some of your capital letters.

Revision work: Ø Ask your child why do we need capital letters? Ø Remind them they need a capital letter when they write their name. Ø We use capital letters to write – place names, the days of the week, the months of the year. Ø In our writing, we need a capital letter at the start of each sentence.

Day 3 and 4: Tricky Words • Remember these are the words that don’t follow the sound rules. We need to learn them by looking at them and

practise using them…….don’t let them trick you!!!!!!!!!!! This week – we, be and me.

Irish – Éadaí (Clothes)

Ø Days 1 and 2 – Practise saying the Irish clothes words in the picture. Point to your own clothes and try to say them too. Ø Days 3 and 4 - Play the game snakes and ladders below, try to remember the clothes words in Irish, use English if you need to. Ø Challenge – Can you say the colours in each of the picture boxes? Just try your best!!!

SESE Day 1:

Day 1: Questions about the Water Cycle:

Ø Where is the most water on Earth? (the oceans) Ø Can we drink the water in the sea/ocean? Why not? Ø What happens when the clouds get dark and heavy from the water? Ø Where does the water flow into when it falls back to the ground? Ø What happens to water when it gets hot? (Steam, vapour gas) Ø What happens to water when it freezes?

Day 2: Questions about Water Safety:

Ø Firstly, discuss the pictures in the water safety poster. Ø Which water safety rule do you think is the most important? Why? Ø Can you think of other ways to be water safe? Ø Can you name and point at some water safety equipment in the picture below? Ø Who would you go to, if someone needed help at the pool or beach? (lifeguard) Ø Why do you need to stay near an adult when you are swimming?
