Fun & Movement

Mass Activity

Jumping drills were conducted.

As they applied the different lessons learned, the children also gained some confidence

as we observed that many whom were previously tentative to jump, were now attempting to jump without aid!

Colour balls were then allocated to each group.

The children then took turns to deposit a ball to the box/basket at the end by jumping over the cones.

Sprints!

When the cones were removed, the children were then tasked to sprint across to deposit the ball.

The children learn to anticipate their turn as they wait for their teammate to return before sprinting off.

Love 1 & 2

After jumping to the other end, the Love children then picked up a ball

and threw it through the hoop.

The height of the hoop was increased to help the children to aim higher

and exert more strength as they throw the ball.

Joy & Peace

To aid the Joy & Peace children in their jumping for distance, a series of cones were placed on the ground.

They were then challenged to jump over the cones.

They were encouraged to swing their arms and lean their body forward as they jumped.

Compared to the Love children, the target hoop for the Joy & Peace children were placed higher

as their musculoskeletal system develops and as they gain strength with growth.

Aesthetics (Music & Movement)

We took a break from the much fun we had with the cups

and got real funky with a Funky Monkey Dance!

The Joy and Peace children also played a game called “ Pass The Beat ”

where they had to keep an ongoing rhythm of the phrase “pass the beat around the room”

(with a silent pat on the shoulder in between phrases) around the circle.

If someone misses a beat, he/she will have to sit down!

(And the children themselves were great judges to point out the mistake, if any!)

The game continued until only the most composed, and alert ones were left standing 😊

Love children on the other hand,

learnt to play simple hand-clapping rhythm with a partner.

They were also given a tambourine each to learn how to shake and tap the tamoborines!
