We offer a suite of climate change programmes, building on our substantive expertise in this area, the University-wide Climate Change and Sustainable Futures research theme, and our established links with the UK Met Office in Exeter.

MA Climate ChangeOffers a wide-ranging and intensive introduction to the histories, cultures and futures of climate change research in the interdisciplinary area of human and physical geography. Mainly for those with humanities or social science backgrounds who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between climate and socio-political change. Leads to career opportunities in the public and private sectors.

MRes Climate Change Impacts and FeedbacksOffers a research-intensive programme in either an academic or practice-based setting, focusing on the impacts of climate change, feedbacks through the carbon cycle and carbon management for climate change mitigation. Suitable for those wishing to gain a broader understanding of aspects of climate change science, but offering specialisation in a focused area of research and the option of pursuing this within a practice-based setting through a work placement.

MSc Climate Change Impacts and FeedbacksWith a larger taught component than the MRes, the MSc focuses on the science of climate change and the associated impacts on natural and human systems and their feedbacks to climate change through the global carbon cycle. Suitable for graduates in the natural sciences or those currently working in science-related positions. Leads to career opportunities in a range of organisations and businesses with an interest in understanding the science and policy options for climate change mitigation and adaptation.

MSc Climate Change and Risk ManagementCovers a broad spectrum of climate change science and focuses on its relationship with risk and the application of this knowledge in a variety of settings. Suitable for graduates with a wide range of degree backgrounds, including the sciences, humanities and social sciences. Also for professionals working in industry or local government who require training in climate change and risk management. Leads to career opportunities in insurance and law firms, environmental consultancies and regional and national government.
