Technical Testing with the associated ECITB certificate of achievement plays a key role in validating a candidates skill, ability and job knowledge in a specific task or activity. Each Technical Test contains 10 questions and a practical activity on the specified test. These tests are grant aided for ECITB registered employers.
All candidates will be issued with a pre-test checklist to ensure they are properly prepared for the testing session
Technical Assessment – Assemble and Install Small Bore Tubing Assemblies (Twin Ferrule)The candidate has to successfully use the appropriate tools, equipment and materials to plan, prepare, fabricate, assemble and install a small bore tubing assembly as per the specified drawing and within set tolerances.

One to Two Hours - maximum 4 candidates per test
New Workers who have an ECITB SBT01 Approved Course Certificate AND a Completed Work Based Task Assignment Personal Record signed off by the supervisor.Existing Workers who have a Company Letter of Endorsement AND a Small Bore Tubing or instrument pipework trainingcertificate(s) (where applicable).Self-Sponsoring Individuals whose Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) details previous small bore tubing experience ANDhave a Small Bore Tubing or instrument pipework training certificate(s) (where applicable).

Technical Assessment – Disassemble and Reinstall Small Bore Tubing Assemblies (Twin Ferrule)The candidate has to successfully dismantle, identify faults and defects on small bore tubing assemblies. Then reinstall small bore tubing assemblies using the appropriate tools, equipment and materials as per the specified drawing and specification sheet within set tolerances.

ECITB in collaboration with Step Change in Safety introduced the SBT model in 2012 of training and validating skills in the small bore tubing assemblies. The 4 SBT approved training courses are derived from the ECITB Small Bore Tubing technical training standards with work based task assignments and 4 ECITB Technical Competence Validation Tests.
These technical training standards and technical competence validation tests cover - isolations, dismantling techniques, inspection of components, shape components, replace components, install and pressure testing of small bore tubing assemblies.

The learner uses the Work Based Task Assignment to consolidate knowledge and skills in the workplace under supervision.
The relevant Work based Task assignment must be completed within 12 months of the initial training course to be eligible to take the technical test.
Technical Testing with an associated ECITB certificate of achievement plays a key role in validating an Individual’s skill, ability and job knowledge in a specific task area. Each test consists of a knowledge test and practical activity test against identified test criteria.
These tests are grant aided for ECITB registered employers
Computer Based Training (CBT) - Existing workers may require refresher training on the knowledge aspects before undertaking the ECITB Technical Tests. Atlas now offers a SBT CBT module.
