RELIGIOUS EDUCATION/EDUCACION RELIGIOSA

Young adults gather to read the word, study the bible, pray and serve actively in the mass celebration twice a month. As Young adults we get lost or caught up in daily routines and life duties and forget to put a little time aside for our Lord. This group meets once a week on Mondays in the Joseph Hall from 7-9pm. We serve mass on the 3rd Sunday of every month at 1pm and the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the 7pm mass and when the month has 5 Sundays, we serve at the 6:30am mass. Once a month, we have liturgical teachings for our mass service and are supported by our Deacon Francisco. We prepare young adults to become active readers, ushers and Eucharistic ministers so they can become the future of our Church and encourage them to actively participate in our liturgy as well as learn and study the Works of our Lord along the way.

SPANISH LITURGY GROUP FOR YOUNG ADULTS

SCHOOL STUDENT NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

The school, mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color, national origin, and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, medical condition, sex, or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies and practices, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs, although certain athletic leagues and other programs may limit participation and some archdiocesan schools operate as single-sex schools. While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student's emotional, academic, and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student's needs.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time; World Mission Sunday Tuesday: St. John Paul II Wednesday: St. John of Capistrano Thursday: St. Anthony Mary Claret Saturday: Blessed Virgin Mary TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — As long as Moses kept his hands raised up, Israel had the better of the fight (Exodus 17:8-13). Psalm — Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121). Second Reading — Remain faithful to what you have learned and believed (2 Timothy 3:14 — 4:2). Gospel — Will not God secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? (Luke 18:1-8). PERSISTENCE Today’s readings are about persistence, passionate persis-tence. Exodus tells of a battle won despite weariness because Moses, with help from Aaron and Hur, held his hands raised. Timothy asks that same persistence of his community and us. Luke tells of a court case won by a widow, despite the dishones-ty of the judge, because she will not leave him alone. The psalm reminds us that God is everywhere, guarding us from harm day and night, coming and going, now and forever. The readings are about persistence, the relentless, unwavering pursuit of what must not be lost. The readings are about God’s passionate per-sistence in pursuing us, seeking to win our hearts. Know the s igns of denial Denial is a commonly used defense mechanism for abuse victims. Because they want to believe that things will go back to normal, victims often feel trapped into just allowing the situation to play out. Fear of change can be overwhelming, especially if the victim has been manipulated by his or her abuser. Victims may also struggle with accepting what’s happening because they know their abuser closely, as a family member or friend. It’s important to recognize the signs of denial and how to break through those barriers that can keep a victim from true healing. To learn more, get a copy of the VIRTUS® article “The Many Faces of Denial, Part 2,” at http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx.
