Orange Cranberry Sauce

1 lb cranberries1 tablespoon liquid Stevia1 tablespoon dried orange peel1 cup water1 pinch salt

Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil while stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Serves 16.

Hydration: Make it a priority

We all know that staying hydrated is important, but are you drinking as much water as you should? Do you ever wonder what your personal hydration intake should be? There's a simple way to calculate your own daily requirement. Simply divide your body weight in half; the resulting number will be the amount of ounces you should drink daily. For example, an individual weighing 150 pounds would need to drink 75 ounces of water daily. Easy! By being more mindful of your hydration you'll greatly benefit your health. But before you reach for a standard glass of water, consider the many benefits of alkaline water. The cutting edge ionization technology found in alkaline water provides too many advantages to ignore:

Antioxidants: Fine-filtered alkaline water neutralizes "free-radicals" within your body (caused by stress, medications, poor diet, etc). It's like drinking a glass of anti-oxidants! Let's get "technical" for a second. All the tech-goodies we use on a daily basis are battery powered—cell phones, tablets, cameras, eReaders, MP3 players, laptops, etc. When it comes to your cell phone, you're likely very aware of how much battery life you have left. Right?

What some of us fail to recognize, however, is that we need to be just as vigilant about our body's personal "battery strength." Each of us is responsible for keeping our bodies charged with good energy and making sure we're "powered up." We need to maintain our health and strength and make sure we have enough of a reserve so we can maintain the best quality of life possible.

Take care of your spine and nervous system by keeping tabs on some body basics:

How is your body handling day-to-day stresses?

Do you have a personal "healing reserve" or is it eeking away due to lifestyle stress that needs to be addressed?

Are you susceptible to old injuries, a poor diet, or medication usage?

Last month Dr. Daniel Knowles, D.C. presented a research paper to the International Research and Philosophy Symposium along with Dr. Richelle Knowles, D.C. and colleague Dejan Kotur, D.C.
