Vintage posters from P.L.M

P.LM stands for Paris – Lyon – Méditerranée, it is the former french train company created in 1857 and nationalized in 1938.The P.L.M trains left from Gare de Lyon to take Parisians to their vacations in the Alps and the French Riviera.

Famous designers were contracted to create posters magnifying key tourist destinations from the Alps and the Côte d’Azur.The 1920s and 30s’ period with Broders, Dorival, Baumberger and Giacometti, represents the tourist posters’ Golden Age. Theyinvented a style which enhanced graphism over detailed painting, colors over shapes. As such they defined posters’ real objective;Expressing an idea.

Richard Zielenkiewicz a.k.a. Monsieur Z burst onto the international illustration Jet Set in the early 90s when his work was publishedin Wallpaper magazine. His illustrations are colorful and edgy, reflecting his ongoing fascination with the groovy, retro sensibilities of1960’s Hollywood and the French Riviera, circa 1950. Combined with his sense of style, the graphic nature of Mr. Z’s work has ledhim to become one of the most celebrated artists in the illustration scene today.

Since he began working as an illustrator, Mr. Z’s vibrant, colorful and edgy imagery has been published globally by the likes ofRedken (USA), Guess, Evian (USA), TGV (France) and Gin Bombay. His characters, architectural spaces and environments, aswell as his sense of humor and elegance have been translated into numerous animated television commercials as well as severalsuccessful cartoon series, including the French children’s series Ratz.

Mr. Z is currently working on his first feature film with worldrenowned French film director, Luc Besson. The film is titled, “FrenchRiviera” and is due for release in 2015.

All our protective sleeves are made of 3mm neoprene

for shock and water resistance.

We are using the latest printing technology to give a

glossy finishing to our i l lustrations. The back side is in a

plain assorted color.
