Latin LinkLatin Link works in partnership with churches to send and receive individuals, families and teams, to or from Latin American communities, to share the love of God.

Step is our short-term programme for teams. A hands-on experience of mission in another culture for 3–16 weeks, living and working alongside a local church, helping with a practical project and joining them in reaching out to their community.

Stride is an opportunity for individuals, couples or families to spend six months to two years putting their faith into practice in Latin America or Spain. Striders use their gifts and skills working with a church or Christian-run project.

Stay. We currently have over 100 members of 14 nationalities serving for more than two years. They work with local churches and organisations to help them meet a diverse range of spiritual and practical needs, from caring for street children to training church leaders; from supporting university students to generating employment opportunities.

Hello, I’m Hannah Wilkinson. Originally from Devon, I currently live in Edinburgh. As a young child I was interested in the world

around me and in nature, which increased as I studied geography at university.

A growing passionAs I travelled my awareness of human and environmental needs developed. This grew into a passion and led me to start a two-year Stride placement in Peru with Latin Link in 2011. During this time my heart grew for Peru, its people and its incredible natural diversity. I loved being able to journey alongside other short-term workers through their experiences in Peru. I felt a growing passion for encouraging people and investing in them, helping them explore and grow in their walk with God.

On my return to the UK, I knew it was possible I would go back as a mission worker. So I completed a one-year ‘Professionals in Mission’ course at Redcliffe Bible College in preparation. After taking some time out back in Edinburgh, I felt a strong calling to return to Peru.

Back to PeruI will return to Peru later this year on Latin Link’s Stay Programme, which is for longer-term workers. After some language training to improve my Spanish I will take up the role of Short Term Coordinator (STC) for Peru for an initial three years. The STC coordinates the Latin Link Step and Stride programmes, which place teams (Step) and people (Stride) in projects for anything from a few weeks to two years. The STC identifies suitable and appropriate projects across Peru, finds host families and helps to ensure that the short-term workers have a positive and fulfilling mission experience. To achieve this, I will

participate in training, orientation, support, mentoring, evaluation and de-briefing the short-term volunteers at the end of their time in country.

I will be based in Arequipa, Peru’s second largest city, and look forward to getting stuck into a local church and community there. As part of my STC role I will spend quite a lot of time travelling and visiting different areas of Peru to find and evaluate suitable projects.

I am excited about going and the impact this will have on the next season of my walk with God. I pray that I would trust him as I go out, as I make new friends, see old friends, improve my Spanish and work alongside Latin Link.
