Andrew Neiman is an amateur drummer who wants to be in the orchestra of his school, but Neiman is under the wing of his director, Terence Fletcher, Andrew looks very enthusiastic until Fletcher starts to abuse on him (Andrew) The young Andrew Neiman attends the best conservatory in U.S.A, he is also a single-minded in his pursuit to rise to the top of his elite east coast music conservatory. When he starts his first year he finds out Fletcher as a energetic teacher so Neiman does his best to draw his attention. Andrew is surprised that Fletcher asks him to join the band, albeit in the alternate drummer position which he is more than happy to do initially. Andrew quickly learns that Fletcher operates on fear and intimidation, never settling for what he considers less than the best each and every time. Being the best in Fletcher's mind does not only entail playing well, but knowing that you're playing well and if not what you're doing wrong. Andrew passes through different situations, he breaks off his girlfriend, his mental health, suffers nervous situations because the stress induced by Fletcher. At least, Andrew did not passed the orchestras challenge and he looks confused and before he got injured by a car crash so he decided to play a drums solo even his teacher Fletcher looks surprised by his technique and leave Andrew to end his solo.
