Q-SWITCHED LASER SYSTEMSEach Q-switched laser system is adapted to meet a specific set of customer specifications. The laser uses doped glass, Nd:YLF or Nd:YAG as the active material. To reach the required level of energy, amplification is achieved by matching pumping chambers of increasing diameters, allowing compensation for birefringence. Pulse duration is in the order of 10 to 50 ns. Harmonic generation and beam homogenization options are available for pumping applications such as those using Titanium-Sapphire crystals.

HIGH ENERGY FREE-RUNNING LASERSHigh energy free-running lasers are used primarily for measurements of thermal diffusivity. Their pulse duration range is generally a few hundred microseconds, depending on the specific type of discharge circuit that is used. The energy delivered can reach several hundred joules per pulse, generated by a laser with a relatively small size.

FIBER LASER SOLUTIONS

Quantel offers fiber laser solutions for industrial, scientific, medical and military systems. Quantel fiber laser expertise is based on ns-pulsed or CW lasers emitting in the IR, visible and UV wavelength range.

FROM CW TO NANOSECOND PULSED LASERS

Main areas of expertise• Project management and innovative solutions • Nanosecond pulsed laser systems with millijoule output energy in the IR and visible regions • Continuous Wave laser: low and medium output power • Second and third harmonic generation based on periodically- poled crystals • Narrow linewidth and single frequency laser • Low intensity and frequency noise laser • Single frequency micro-cavity laser based on fiber Bragg gratings • Packaging / High power & Low noise electronics / User friendly interface

Specifications• High reliability • High performances (high energy, high output power, specific wavelengths, single frequency) • Superior stability with high signal to noise ratio with low frequency and intensity noise

Ylia fiber laser series for marking and engravingThe Ylia is a rugged and compact pulsed fiber laser that can be easily integrated into industrial equipment.

It delivers 10, 20 or 30 W of average power via a long, flexible, fiber delivery system with collimating optics.

The Ylia produces high peak power pulses combined with a high average power. These attributes are ideal for rapid and deep engraving, marking and hole drilling applications. With its enhanced optical design, the Ylia can even be used safely on highly reflective materials, such as gold or copper.

The Ylia can be controlled by either a TTL signal or by user-friendly USB software.

DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTSAEROSPACE, SPACE AND DEFENSE PROJECTS

Laser MegajouleThe laser Megajoule (LMJ) is an essential element of the French Atomic Energy Commission Simulation program.

The program provides a long-lasting alternative for nuclear simulations after the termination of nuclear tests.

Quantel is involved in the design and manufacturing of the pre-amplification laser modules (PAM).

These modules amplify a nanoJoule source up to a Joule level, as well as shape the pulse both spatially and temporally.

Quantel has delivered the first 4 PAMs, in order to equip a LMJ arm (8 beams). As many as 88 PAM will be delivered by the end of the program.

Quantel has been involved in aerospace, space and defense projects for many years, specifically in the design and development of diode-pumped pulsed lasers: onboard systems, missile guidance, LIDAR, document authentication…

Space applicationsFor over 20 years, Quantel has been involved in ESA (European Space Agency) space programs. On ALADIN and the ATLID LIDAR programs, Quantel developed the primary diode-pumped power amplifier systems.

We also provide long lifetime pumping diodes stacks specifically designed for the environmental conditions in space. Quantel has been chosen by NASA as a supplier for the LOLA (Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter) program launched in June 2009.

Quantel diodes also equipped the LIBS laser “Chemcam” of the MSL09 NASA mission to Mars.

We are a world leader for electro-optic efficiency which is essential for space applications. In only four years, Quantel increased diode lifetimes by tenfold.

Military applicationsQuantel developed and currently manufactures lasers for target designation and telemetry airborne applications. In collaboration with Thales, Quantel supplies a network of integrated fiber components for submarine security in littoral and maritime zones.

Quantel also manufactures diode IR illuminators that deliver beams at 800 – 900 nm, for active surveillance of zone. The illumination can be made in CW and QCW modes.
