Introduction
1 Introduction
This document describes the Quad Antenna Uplink Performance Packagefeature.
The Quad Antenna Uplink Performance Package feature provides supportfor four receive antennas used for 4-way receive diversity, to improveuplink coverage, capacity (bit rate) and throughput. Quad Antenna UplinkPerformance is possible for all antenna configurations with four antennas andfor any number of radio units.

Feature Operation
2 Feature Operation
This section describes the Quad Antenna Uplink Performance Package featurein more detail, including network configuration requirements and operationflows.
4-way receive diversity supports the same behavior as 2-way receive diversitybut with better performance.
2.1 Network Requirements
The Quad Antenna Uplink Performance Package feature is license controlled. The functionality is switched on when there is a license key. If no featurelicense key is installed, a basic two-way functionality is used.
The following must be fulfilled at feature activation:
Configuration of four receive antenna branches.
Configuration of MOM parameters.
The Quad Antenna Uplink Performance Package feature is a licensedfeature of LTE RAN. A license is needed to activate the feature.
2.2 Radio Building Block Configurations
A Radio Building Block (RBB) defines a unique way of combining Radio Units(RU) or Remote Radio Units (RRU) in one sector with connections to DigitalUnits (DU) and the antenna system.
The following documents provide further information about RBB configurations:
Antenna and RF Connections
RBS Configurations
The following figures show supported RBB configurations for 4-way receivediversity.

If an RfBranch, in configuration RBB 44 2C, is not to be used for Tx, itsRfBranchId must end with the string _NO_TX. The value of parameterRfBranchId is defined using site equipment files during integration. Moreinformation can be found in Configuration Files and Preparing ConfigurationFile Templates.

Feature Operation
2.3 Digital Unit Configuration
A Digital Unit (DU) provides switching, traffic management, timing, basebandprocessing, and radio interfacing.
The Quad Antenna Uplink Performance Package feature is normally configuredwith one DU for a three cells configuration. For Bandwidths more than 10MHzthe Quad Antenna Uplink Performance Package feature can only be configuredwith one DU per sector/cell. A three cells configuration requires three DUs.
The following documents provide further information about the digital unitconfiguration:
Digital Unit Description
Control Channel Dimensioning
2.4 Receiver Antenna Configuration
The following antenna types and configurations can be used for 4-way receivediversity:
Four co-polarized correlated antenna elements
Four co-polarized uncorrelated antenna elements
Two columns of closely spaced cross-polarized antenna elements
Two spatially separated columns of cross-polarized antenna elements
The following figure shows antenna configurations used for 4-way receivediversity.

Figure 3 Antenna configurations for 4-way receive diversity
Uncorrelated antennas give, in general, better uplink performance. Fourco-polarized uncorrelated antenna elements and two spatially separatedcolumns of cross-polarized antennas give best performance.
Interference Rejection Combining (IRC) generally improves the performancewhen 4-way Rx diversity is used. With the IRC feature activated, the systemdynamically switches between the combining methods IRC and Maximum RatioCombining (MRC) depending on interference situation. Without an IRC licensekey, MRC is used in all situations.

Parameters
3 Parameters
This section describes parameters introduced by the Quad Antenna UplinkPerformance Package feature and parameters affected by activating thefeature.
3.1 Introduced Parameters
This section provides a brief description of the parameters introduced by theQuad Antenna Uplink Performance Package feature. Further details relatingto these parameters can be found in Managed Object Model. ManagedObjects (MOs) hold the parameters.
Table 1 describes the parameters introduced by the feature.
Table 1 Introduced Parameters
Parameter Description
QuadAntUlPerfPkgId The value component of the Relative Distinguished Name (RDN).
keyIdQuadAntUlPerfPkg The license key ID for the feature Quad Antenna UplinkPerformance Package.
featureStateQuadAntUlPerfPkg
Activates or deactivates the licensed feature Quad Antenna UplinkPerformance Package. The value of the attribute is irrelevantwhen no valid license key is installed for the feature.
licenseStateQuadAntUlPerfPkg
Indicates the status of the licensed feature Quad Antenna UplinkPerformance Package, ENABLED or DISABLED. The value isENABLED when a license key is installed.
serviceStateQuadAntUlPerfPkg
Indicates whether the feature Quad Antenna Uplink PerformancePackage is operable or inoperable.
3.2 Affected Parameters
Table 2 describes the parameters affected by the feature.
Table 2 Affected Parameters
Parameter Description
noOfRxAntenna The number of antennas that can be used for uplinkbeam-forming/MIMO.(1)
RfBranchId The value of parameter RfBranchId is defined using site equipmentfiles during integration. If an RfBranch is not to be used for Tx, itsRfBranchId must end with the string _NO_TX. More informationcan be found in Configuration Files and Preparing ConfigurationFile Templates.
(1) A parameter value of 0 will result in that the installed licensed controlled feature for multipleantennas defines the configuration, and available resources will be used accordingly. If theparameter value is set to 0 and the feature state (multiple antennas) is Disabled the predefinedvalue for the number of Rx antennas is 2.
