Dear Parents and Carers

Education Week 31 July – 4 August

Truscott Street Public School invites parents and friends to our Education Week celebrations to be held on Wednesday 2nd

August. A number of activities are planned for the morning. The timetable is as follows:

9:30- 10:00 Performance Assembly for parents in the hall

10:00 -11:15 Open classrooms

11:15 -12:00 Morning Tea for guests in the hall

A book display will be held in the library. The library will be open from approximately 9:00 until 12:00 if guests wish to

purchase books to donate to the school library.

Mufti Day

Our next Mufti day will be held on Thursday 3rd August in support of our school fete. All students are asked to wear mufti on

the day and bring a donation of a gold coin. This donation will go towards equipment and goods for the fete.

National Tree Day

This Friday a team from Frasers Property Australia will be at our school to plant trees, create a new outdoor learning area and

give the school a green makeover. As part of Schools Trees Day, a Planet Ark initiative, their volunteers will also plant 850

native plants with the help of our students, as well as paint an outdoor chess set. This was made possible through the hard

work of Mrs Kristy Anderson. I’m sure our school will look wonderfully “green” after this makeover.

Earn and Learn

This year Truscott Street will once again be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn Program. From Wednesday 26th

July to Tuesday 19th September or while stock lasts, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers. If you regularly

shop at Woolworths we ask if you could please collect the stickers and either send them into the school office or drop them

into the Truscott Street collection boxes at Top Ryde, Macquarie Centre and Woolworths Marsfield.

At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment, including resources for Maths, English and

Science.

Dance Auditions

This morning, our dance group auditioned for the Ryde Schools Spectacular. I had the opportunity to watch them in action on

Thursday of last week and they were very impressive indeed and this morning they were amazing . Thank you to

Mrs Shannon and Miss Bishop whose tireless efforts have made our dance group so outstanding.

Junior Engineers - Programming for Kids Last term we offered a coding course for students 10 years and above operated by an outside company. This course will run for 8 weeks on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 at a cost of $180. Currently there are still vacancies so if you are interested please visit the website below. http://www.jnrengineers.com/ or contact us: [email protected] / 0478 438 633. Enrolments 2018
