SUMMARY
Address problems with a Carrier Air Cooled Chiller at Georgia Southwestern State University
Machine has had multiple compressor failures
Extremely high Liquid Line and condensor coil temperatures
Unable to meet setpoints for AC
EQUIPMENT
Carrier GT 100
ISSUES Three compressor replacements in 18 months Liquid line temps exceeding 130° Condensor temps over 100° Unable to run more than 3 of the 4 compressors due to
cutting off on high head pressures Recirculation of condensor exhaust through condensor
addressed with sheet metal flashing diverters (pic below)

RESULTS DAY ONE
Drop of 10° in Supply Chilled Water temp. (From mid 50’s to mid 40’s)
Return Chilled water temps in mid 50’s Prior room temps between 77-80. After install temps
at 68-71. All four compressors running and cycling Drastic reduction in compressor noise due to reduced
head pressures
ADDITIONAL
Head temps and chilled water supply temps will be trended and monitored
Additional chillers at site will be selected for future installations
Follow-up with customer to address any post installation issues
