In every posititude we try to give a message to you to be ambivalent in

life so that you can share your posititude with other and this mission of

inculcating posititude in everyone to become a success.

In this issue we have brought you many topics on creating positive

environment around you so that you can be happy and progress in your

life. Self management tools for you to be venturesome to take any

challenge, inventive to be creative in your life. Self management,

manages you, your environment and others to act according to your

expectations. Hand Shaking is an art and reading hand shake gives you

insight of a person. Articles on hand Shaking is in continuation of our

section on Body Language. To keep your body healthy, we have covered

benefits of Cucumber and importance of 5S in maintaining Heart, Brain

and Kidney health. In this section we have introduced Stories section,

which you are going to enjoy reading. This time “Vastu” section is going

to spread awareness on maintaining your relationship with your spouse

Building a Positive Work Environment

You all would agree that we devote 12 hours (including commuting) of total 24 hours at our work place, almost 50%. And if we calculate assuming wakeup time (24-8 (sleeping))=16 hours, so out of 16 hours of wake time, we spend 12 hours doing our business or attending our duty, which comes to 75%. Therefore 75% of our time passes at our work place. Therefore it become essential to have a positive and soothing environment at our work place. It effects our 75% of the life. Therefore what-ever we do at work place is going to effect our life . If we are satisfy and contented at work, we return home relaxed and cool. On the other hand if our work environment gives us tension and dis-satisfaction, we will be disturbed and distressed. Same tension and worries we are going to carry at home. So the environment at our work place is going to decide quality of our life.

The confidence of the child that her father will catch her safely when she lands in his hand, is the real definition of Trust and the assurance given by the father to her is the Trust building. Trust is a major part of successful interpersonal relationships. Main pillars of Trust building are as under -

a) Do what you say – People will first look at you and hear your words. They will observe you minutely. Therefore be an example and do what you say. Slowly they will rely on your words and start believing you. b) If you do Promise, do Honor them. Trust will build if you honor your promises. c) Never belittle you promises. d) Honestly is the best policy . e) Never tell a lie. Truth may be bitter, but always beneficial. Always say

truth. This makes you more trust worthy than others. f) Be open. Never hide your views. Always share them with your peers and

colleague.

g) If someone share his grievance and secrets, keep them with you. Always keep confidences.

h) Integrity and Loyalty is the virtue, which build trust of others in you. Building trust you create a positive environment at Home and Office.

Positively spoken words change the scene. Positivity comes along with – - Happiness, - Peace - A new energy - Openness - Synergy among all - Enthusiasm - Creativity Therefore to change the working environment congenial and positive, always be Open and talk positively. Talk of present and take support of all past successful moments. This will create a positive environment around you.

When ever you communicate with others, always talk with energy and enthusiasm, always create and show your Trust in your team and always say “YES you can do it, you have done earlier also”. This energy and confidence will be a tonic for your team and every task will be done with success.

A single man approach can do well for a single Person and not for the team and organization. Every Individual Is unique and important. In an organization individual doesn't do all the functions. It is the team which performs and run the organization. Therefore to create a team and induce a team spirit, every individual should be delegated work of his interest and expertise. If an individual gets his choice of work he will perform the best. Therefore to create a team spirit, always identify the skills and motivate all and show them your confidence and trust in their capabilities. Always talk positive of a person and explain them the importance of every individual in the team.

Even for small successes recognize and appreciate your family members and team members. You may have seen Whales doing aerobics in pool and for every jump and dip the trainer appreciate and rewards the whale with a small fish to feed. Due to this award the whale do the next task with more enthusiasm and zeal. As per behavioral experts, human and whale behave in a similar pattern. If by small recognition an animals can do wonders, why humans can’t. Always show gratitude to your team members and always appreciate publically and recognize them. Publically appreciation motivates others to follow and it creates a very alleviating and positive environment. Some companies identify and display employees of the week and employee of the month on the notice board. This is how ambient environment is created, which promotes team work and team spirit.

Be always approachable to your team

Be aware and keep in mind, what do you do when you are in fix and unable to crack down a problem. As far as I am concerned, in problematic situation, I always approach my peers and then to my seniors. If they are approachable, I feel very happy and able to do my task without wasting much of time. By this I save my time and able to devote time in helping other to do their tasks. Similarly your team may needs you and if you avoid them or don’t give them time and help when they needed, you are for sure – a) Demotivating them to come to you, b) Discouraging them to take initiative, c) Waste time to visit you again, d) Delay the tasks, e) Inculcating a negative feeling in them, f) Becoming a reason for failure of the project. g) Creating time for gossips.

Therefore if you want success, positive environment, energy and enthusiasm in your team, be always present in their time of need. They should always feel your presence. Solution will automatically come.

6. Success moments are Tools - When we get success in life, we are full of energy and enthusiasm. But along with it comes proudness in us , which is very dangerous and it takes away humbleness and patience within us. Impatience, proudness. Instead of giving credit to yourself along, think of the factors which supported you to get that success. Always remember what you have done to get success and feel the happiness and strive to get more in your life. Remember your successes to inculcate a confidence in you that “You can Do It”.

7. “Yes” It is Possible Some times we want to do a task, but we are taken aback by our “No, it is not possible”. Without even going into depth, we say “I can’t do” . This feeling kills our enthusiasm. This push us back, our heart and mind will never motivate us to think broader and take initiative. The word “ Impossible”, itself says “I m possible”. Therefore always have confidence in yourself and always say to yourself that “I Can do it”, “I can Create a better life for me”. Start your day with “Yes I can and it is possible to do”. This will serve as the springboard of belief you need to succeed. 8. Target big Your thoughts control your desires and inspire you from inside to take action. It helps you to achieve your life’s goal whether small or big. In life you should always think and dream big. This thought of bigness infuse lots of energy in you to achieve that. You get excited to achieve that big goal. Excitements pave to enthusiasm. I always feel that if we do our work with enthusiasm we will always achieve what we think. Enthusiasm is soul power which make every dream happen. Therefore always think from soul and always believe that God is with you. This makes your soul inclined towards the super power and gets power for determination and “can achieve” factor in you. Start your day with your dream in mind. You will definitely make it come true and live.

9. Acceptance is Way to Change If we look at our daily activities, we will find that we do what is acceptable to our soul or mind. Some times we think with our brain, but some times we think with our heart. But we do what is acceptable first to us, then only we are inspired to do that act / task. Without our acceptance we normally don’t do, but if we do any task under someone’s pressure, we can’t give our 100% and we normally don’t perform well. If we think and accept that we are wrong and we have to change our way of taking things, then only we will change our way, otherwise no one can motivate us to change. Therefore “change factor” is within us only. Search inside, accept the truth and make a change plan and execute that immediately. You will find a new “you” inside, excited to change and see the change happen. Therefore evaluate your day’s results, introspect the failures, accept them, learn from them and the change process starts. No regrets, just change, result will be wondrous.

10. Both Fails – One who thinks but don’t Act and who acts but don’t Thinks. Dreaming is not enough. Dreaming with closed eyes will give enjoyment and success only till eyes are closed. Once eyes are open, dream will vanish and only regrets will surround. But if we dream with our open eyes, there are chances we choose the feasible dreams and acts. Dreaming is only what we desire. We may desire “Moon”, but can we achieve that. “No”. Therefore think What you want? Where you want?, When you want?, Why you want?, Who will help you? And How to get that? After thinking these 5W1H, you will be able to act with a clear vision. If you Act without thinking and answering these questions, you are acting without Goal and direction. “Failure” is for sure. For Success think 5W1H.

11. A Good Closure of day, build the foundation of a Successful next day - At the end of the day, one should update the to-do list. What all tasks has been done and what are still pending. Delete those tasks which are done and add which are to be done next day. This gives a clear cut direction for the next day. This also teaches us from day’s fallacies and shortcoming. Only 30 minutes at the end of the day will give a sound sleep and a fresh start of the next Day equipped with tremendous energy with goal and Direction.

In last month we have discussed about body gestures. We learned how our

body gestures communicate with other people. Also learnt what other people’s body gestures speaks. In this issue we would elaborate on Hands shakes. Our hands are locomotors or and manifests lot of messages to the observers and audiences. You may have seen Doordarshan’s (Indian National Telecast) news for impairs every day in the after noon. The News caster convey his/her message by ways of hands and face expressions. Hands gestors convey every message very clear. Hand Shake Our hand has two parts Palm and Fingers. Palm shows our inner feeling and Fingers convey our inner feeling we have for the person with whom we shake hand. Hand Shake is basically exchanging feelings and energy between two persons. Therefore before shaking hand with others try to have a good feeling for others so that others reciprocate the same feeling back. fingers Palm Normally on three occasions we shake hands – 1) When we introduce ourselves to others, 2) When we take leave/depart from some one, 3) When we start / close a meeting.

Type of Hand Shakes 1) The top hand Shake – If a person shake hand horizontally on top instead of

vertically, shows his/her feeling of dominance. He/she will push the lower hand downwards. Conversely, the person with hand on lower position shows him/her on receiving end.

Palm facing down is a hand of a person showing dominance and firmness in decision. It also shows aggressiveness and didn’t give little chance to the receiver to establish an equal relation. 2) The Pusher Hand shake – The initiator push the other away from himself

while shaking hand. This indicate the initiator wants more space and don’t want too much closeness.

3) The Pullers Hand Shake – The initiator pull the opponent towards himself. Be wary of these kind of persons. They are manipulators and they may push you in a situation where you never wants to be. 4) The Two Hand Shake – It is politician handshake. It is also called Gloves Handshake. The initiator gives personal touch and intend to establish Trust and confidence to the receiver. But normally it is other way round. In case of the initiator is new, the case is suspicious, but if both are well known to each other, then trust can be done.

5) The Crushers – Out of enthusiasm the initiator press the opponents hand hard unknowingly. He / she just want to show his energy level and enthusiasm to the opponent. 6) The Twister – The initiator shake hand vertically, but give a twist to the

hand shake and bring his hand on top. This kind persons are dominators and un-trustable. Trust on these person may put you in an adverse situation.

7) Dead Fish Handshake – The hand of the opponent will be just dead, no sign of energy. For the shake of hand shake they forward their hand without showing any interest and energy. These kind of people are low in self esteem and energy.

There are many other ways of handshakes , which we are not including in this issue. In Nut-shell, the right way of handshaking is to catch the opponent’s hand vertically and press slightly with full grip to show warmness. Your eyes should be in line with the opponent and smile on the face. You should maintain an optimum distance. Neither Close nor away.

Benefits of Cucumber Cucumber is for most grown vegetable in the World and is often known as Superfood. It is originally from India. It contains water, Potassium, sugar, little bit of sodium, calcium, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Silicon, Sulphur, Lignans, magnesium and many other nutrients useful to human body.

I myself have been eating cucumber for many years and found it very useful for my body. Some of the benefits which I have found are list below for the benefit of the readers. 1) Control / loss weight – Since it contain 95% of water contents and low in

calories therefore it doesn’t put-up weight. Rather it is good to reduce the weight. Those who are looking for weight loss should take cucumber in good quantity.

2) Prevent dehydration – Cucumber contains 95% of water, therefore it a good source of water and is very much beneficial in case of dehydration.

3) Source of Nutrients – Apart from water, it contain lot of vitamins (B1, B2, B2, B3, B5, B6, C), Folic Acid, Potassium, Iron, Magnesium, etc.,.

4) Diuretic (Eliminating waste)– It helps to cleanse the waster of the body by eliminating the waste though urine. It also help in dissolving Kidney Stones, if taken regularly.

5) Skin care – It is used by beautician to remove black circles around eyes and to make the skin soft and silky. Due to Water and silica in it, it is a favorite tool used by the skin therapists and beauticians.

it is heart’s friend and enhance age longevity. 7) It is used as a tools at homes – a) After shoe polish if cucumber slice rubbed on the surface, it retained the shininess of the shoe’s surface. b) It erases the text written with pen, when rubbed gently. c) It shines the surface of the metals, when rubbed gently with the slice of the cucumber. d) It acts as antifogging agent when a slice of it is rubbed on the mirror and wind shield of the car. 8) Good for Teeth and Bones – Since it contain dietary fibers, therefore when eaten raw, it massages the teeth and gums and maintain their health. It also remove the bad smell from the mouth. It is an excellent source of Silica, which is helpful in maintaining good health of bone, joints and strengthening the connective tissues. 9) Relaxer – It is great relaxer. Chop the cucumber into thin slices and boil them in a bowl and inhale the steam. Its chemical and nutrients infuse in the steam and give a great soothing and relaxing effect to the inhaler. 10) Aids Digestion – Due to water contents, fibers and nutrients cucumber act as digestive agent. It activates digestive enzymes in digestive track. 11) Relieve gout and arthritis pain – Cucumbers are rich in various vitamin A, B1, B6, C & D, Folate, Magnesium, Potassium and Calcium. Mixed juice of Cucumber and Carrot relieve in the pain due to arthritis and gout by lowering uric acid level. 12) Control Blood Pressure - Cucumber containers lot of potassium, Magnesium, fiber. 5-S For your Healthy Body Today Morning while driving, on 106.4 FM, I listen a Doctor advising the listeners take care of the following 5-S to keep BP Under Control, Sugar Under Control and to have a healthy Kidney. We read daily in news papers about deaths due Sugar problem, BP and kidney failures. Mainly disturbed sugar and Salt level in our body adversely effect our heart, Kidney and other parts of the body. 1) Sugar – Take Sugar in adequate quantity 2) Salt 3) Stress 4) Sedentary life style 5) Smoke Intake of excess sugar is always harmful to the body. In digestive tract sugar is broken down in Glucose and Fructose. Glucose is found in the body of all living beings and our body is capable of producing it. Our body is capable of generating Glucose from the food which we intake. Basically Fructose is not needed by our body for physiological need. Fructose is stored in our liver until it is not required. Excess of fructose is stored into the liver and make it fatter and also generate LDL, which is a major cause of High blood pressure and heart diseases. This excess storage creates all the problems related to mal functioning of our liver. It also contributes to obesity in the body. Insulin is an enzyme secreted by our pancreas, which allows sugar to enter into our cells and burn sugar into fat. But when we intake more sugar, insulin is more required and secretion may not be adequate therefore cells stop burning sugar and results in more sugar level into the blood stream. Excess of sugar in our blood stream causes diabetic disease. Sugar Intake should be adequately taken. Due to excess sugar intake our liver and pancreas become weak. As per researchers, excess intake of sugar may create Cancer in the body. Another very dangerous material we take, is “Salt”. We consume Salt in the form of Sodium Chloride, which is also called Common Salt. It is made up of Sodium and Chloride. Main source of Sodium is our food we take every day. It’s main function is to regulate the fluid level in the body.

Adequate amount of intake of the salt is good and necessary to maintain the correct volume of circulating blood and tissue fluids in the body. But many people intake excess amount of it in the form of Junk food and excess salts food. For a normal healthy person only 1-1/2 Tea spoon of salt is adequate for a day. Salt intake above 1 ½ teaspoons is associated with high blood pressure, which is a risk factor for kidney disease and cardiovascular disease (such as heart disease and stroke). Kidney is the main regulator of Sodium in our body. Excessive sodium intake has also been linked to other conditions, such as : a) Heart failure b) Kidney problems and kidney stones c) Oedema (Swelling due to fluid retention) d) Stroke e) Stomach cancer d) Left ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of heart muscle) e) Osteoporosis – Risk of fracture of Bone. (A high level of salt intake increases the amount of calcium excreted in the urine, which may also contribute to osteoporosis and increased risk of fracture). Stress is the bigger danger to human health in this modern age. We have discussed about stress in many of our issues. Also have discussed how to de-stress yourself. Please refer the issue. Here we will concisely describe the main points to lessen the stress – a) Regular Exercise, and yoga (Anulom-vilom and Kapalbharti) b) Think of present, never think of past c) Listen light music and if possible sing d) Drink lot of water e) Take deep breath during breaks f) Avoid anger, think before reacting g) Eat low Sugar and low Salt in Foods h) Pray daily i) Plan your day in the morning j) Review your day in the night k) Spend less than you earn, l) READ “POSITITUDE “ REGULARLY

All the white collared job person are suffering from sedentary life style. According to wikipedia “A sedentary lifestyle is a type of lifestyle with no or irregular physical activity. A person who lives a sedentary lifestyle may colloquially be known as a couch potato. It is commonly found in both the developed and developing world.” According to Dr. James H. Rimmer, Ph.D., the Sidé affects of sedentary life style as following – a) Risk of Colon and Brest cancer b) A recent study reported that for every 2 hours that a person watched TV,

the risk of type 2 diabetes increased 14%. c) People who are sedentary have the highest rate of heart attack. d) Sedentary life style people are more prone to Brain Stroke. Those who do

regular exercises reduce stroke by 50%. e) Loss of vital lean muscle tissue f) Bone loss progresses much faster in people who are physically inactive. g) People who don't perform regular physical activity are more likely to

become depressed h) One study showed that an hour of walking daily cut the risk of obesity by

24%. So leave your chair and bed and start moving your body and get ride of depressions, high BP, sugar problems, kidney problems, obesity and live a healthy life style. The last ‘S’, is smoking. Smoking is to kill your self. You don’t need any enemy. You are your own enemy. Every government is making lot of efforts to discourage smoking. It is bad for the health of the smoker, environment and inhalers. Every where you will find caution of “No Smoking”, but people are not stopping smoking.

Smoking start damaging from when you start purchasing it by increasing the expenses, burn the lips, mouth cancer, teeth plaque, lungs cancer, blood impurity, intestine cancer, etc., Summary of harmful effect of smoking are as under – So to live a healthy life, please take care of Sugar Intake, Salt Intake, Stress reduction, avoid sedentary life style and quit Smoking.

A fish seller put a hording on his Shop “Fresh Fishes are Sold Here”. He was happy that now he will pull more customers and he will sell more. On the same road, on which this shop was, there was a college which conduct courses on Marketing Management. In Marketing education it is taught to write minimum with more impact on the customer. One day a student was passing in front of the shop. He saw the hoarding and stopped and asked the shop keeper what is the meaning of “Fresh fishes are sold here”? If fresh fishes are not available here then where else fresh fishes will be available. Word “here” is of no relevance in the hoarding, therefore it is better to remove it. The shop keeper have no choice to accept the advice of the student and he painted the word “here” with white paint. Now the hoarding is having “Fresh Fishes are Sold”. Story doesn’t stop here. After some time one more intelligent student reaches the site and asked the shop keeper what does it means “are Sold”. Remove the word “are Sold”. The shop keep was thinking that the marketing students are more intelligent and are learning the latest marketing techniques, therefore he painted the words “are Sold” also white. Now the hoarding is having only one word “Fishes”. This doesn’t stop here. One person noticed the board and show “Fishes” written on the hoarding. He told the shop keeper, your fishes smell from one kilo meter then why you want to writes “fishes “ on the hoarding. It is better to remove that also. Customer will come by the smell itself. The poor shopkeeper painted the whole board in white paint. Now the hoarding is plain white. Just then a marketing student was passing in front of the shop and told the shop keeping smiling that without marketing you can’t sell your products. Every product sells more with branding. Therefore you should write on the blank hoarding “Fresh Fishes are Sold Here”. You should write this, it container every information about your business.

Moral of the story is – Never hear others. Decide with full thought and do your task. No one can be best just of what you want to do. Have confidence and trust in your self.

Don’t keep pains for longer time.

We have heard a story of Half Glass full of water, gives learning of seeing things positive. Recently I have attended a motivation training program in Delhi. The trainer came with a Half glass of water and saw to the participants. Every one guessed that he is going to ask us what do we say? And we all will say it is ‘Half glass of Water”. But no, the motivator asks us, how much it weighs? Some of us told 100 gms, some told 150 gm and some of us told 200 gm. He continue to orate and told us, weight doesn’t matter much, but it matters for how much time we can hold the glass? If I Hold the glass for 10 minutes, it doesn’t matter. If I hold it for an hour, my hand may start paining and I may have an ache in my arm. If hold the glass full day, my hand may get paralyzed and incapable to hold it any more. He continues “our life’s stress and worries are like glass of water. Think for a while about them. Nothing will happen. But we If we think about them for longer time, they start hurting us and we may get mentally disturbed. And if we keep on thinking about them full day, we may end-up our day with full of negativity and stressed. Therefore we all should leave the stress and worries as soon as possible. At the end of the day we should not carry them at home, otherwise you ensure that you are going to spoil your personal life also.

Tips to keep your relationship in Place

It is human nature that he/she spend more of his/her time at a place where he/she find happiness and peace and always avoid or defer visiting places where he is not given due weightage, respect, recognition. It is rational to be like that. Human being is an intellectual and social animal. He/she can’t live in isolation. He/she needs a suitable company with whom he/she can enjoy time and a conciliatory environment for sharing his/her views. I have seen many people coming to office before time and they keep on spending late hours at office even though they may not be having any work to do. They are the last person to leave the office. In the morning their face scintillates, whereas in the evening they are woebegone. It all starts from the home Vastu. The environment at home effects the total life of a person. We all are borne with variant qualities and virtues. It is very difficult for all of us to maintain a loving relationship within our family. Over a period of time stagnation comes in the relationship. Vastu can help you in rejuvenation of relations between the family members. Here are few practical Vastu tips which you follow to maintain a congenial environment at home. 1) I have seen at many houses things are kept in a clutter manner. Every time

there a search for things in home. Husband will ask the wife and wife will help in search to some time our of despair may say “find out your self”. Here starts the disparity between the relations. Expectations are nor fulfilled. Therefore foremost thing is to De-cluttering at house.

2) Remove / dispose all the non usable things from the house. This will clear

the way for positive energy to enter into the house.

3) The master bedroom for the owner of the house should be in South-West direction of the house to enhance the healthy and supportive relationship between the couple.

4) Couple should always sleep in the master bed room and their head should always be in south direction for a blissful relationship. (already discussed in earlier posititudes). 5) The bedroom should have adequate light , preferably natural light. The

colour concept of the bedroom should be lighter and brighter. Avoid dark colors in the bedroom.

6) The bedroom should be a perfect square / rectangle shape. It should be neither extended nor should be curtailed the size.

7) Always have a single mattress in the bedroom.

8) Avoid having mirrors in the bedroom. This create a negative impact on the relationship.

9) Pictures of Gods and Goddess should never be placed in bedroom. Worship place should be separate from the bedroom.

10) Water and fire in kitchen should be kept at a distance, i.e., Sink and Gas Stove should installed in different corners of the kitchen. Sink should be in North or North-east corner and Gas Stove should be in South corner of the Kitchen.

11) Place fresh and natural flowers in the house instead of artificial.

12) Place rose quartz near you and preferable to be placed in south corner of the room.

If you take care of the above, your relationship may turn into a happy and jovial relationship.
