• My%work%explores%the%rela+onship%between%gender%dynamics%and%religious%and%social%culture%in%the%Islamic%world.%Women%of%the%Middle%East%are%most%oCen%the%subjects%studied%in%the%work.%%

• Being%Lebanese%and%having%lived%in%the%Gulf%region%for%16%years,%my%work%is%inspired%by%what%I%have%seen%,%what%I%have%heard%and%how%I%have%been%engineered%to%act%as%a%middle%eastern%woman.%%
• Reading%interpreta+on%of%the%Quran%and%feminists%wri+ng%such%as%Nawal%Saadawis’%“The%hidden%face%of%Eve”%have%encouraged%me%to%address%the%issue%of%gender%inequality%and%the%effect%Islamic%garments%can%have%on%women.%
• I%consider%myself%as%an%“ar+st%who%paints”%however,%I%have%worked%through%different%mediums%such%as%photography,%installa+on%and%audio%work%and%mixed%media.%%Even%though%some+mes%there%are%no%material%similari+es%in%my%work,%the%purpose%never%changes%as%I%aspire%to%encourage%more%females,%even%males%to%address%these%issues%through%whatever%plaRorm%they%are%able%to.%
