towns. This enchanting town has a rich maritime heritage as

Natural Beauty, perfect for those wanting to explore the
stunning countryside and capture breath-taking landscapes.

Tour Description:
Depart Dartmouth pier by coach and transfer to Totnes passing
stunning scenery. On arrival enjoy a walking tour of this quaint
market town, full of fascinating history and culture. After, travel to
Paignton where you will board a traditional steam train for a train
ride to Kingswear. The scenery on this picturesque line is breath-
taking. Arriving in Kingswear, take a short ferry crossing across the
river Dart and conclude your excursion with a walking tour of the
historic town of Dartmouth.

Countryside Steam Train & The English Riviera

Tour Description:
Discover some of Dartmouth’s historical landmarks on this delightful
Heritage Walk. Visit the old market that was originally a tidal creek
that powered a mill until 1800, see the oldest Baptist meeting house
dating back to 1646 where Thomas Newcomen, inventor of the first
successful steam engine, was a Baptist preacher and see Bayard
Cove where the Mayflower anchored during her stay in Dartmouth.
Stroll along Butterwalk and see merchant houses dating back to
1628 - these house backed on to the river and ships came up to their
back door!

Dartmouth Heritage Walk
Port: FalmouthHome to the third largest natural harbour in the world,
Falmouth is a delightful seaside town brimming with maritime
history, despite it being a relatively new town. Back in the 16th
century, Falmouth was nothing more than a house, a very fine
one of course. Arwenack, was the home of the Killigrew’s, one
of the most powerful families in Cornwall at that time. With the
help of Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir John Killigrew came to realise
that his land had great potential for a port and Falmouth was
born.

Home to the third largest natural harbour in the world, Falmouth is a
delightful seaside town brimming with maritime history.
Join your guide and discover the town’s fascinating history on this
walking tour. The walk will take you around Pendennis Headland to
walk below Henry VIII’s Pendennis Castle and enjoy stunning coastal
views, along the sea front to Gyllyngvase beach before return into
the town to admire the old quay and fine 18th century buildings and
back to your ship.
Tour Notes: This walking tour is approximately 3 ½ miles, guests must have a good level of fitness to participate on this tour. Toilets will be available 1 hour into the walk and in Falmouth. The ground is mostly level throughout but there may be some inclines and steps. We recommend flat and comfortable walking shoes.
Falmouth Walking Tour
Port: St Mary’sThe Isles of Scilly’s largest island and the gateway to the rest
of the islands. Covering an area of little more than 6 square
miles. Hugh Town is the central hub, with a cluster of shops,
banks and eateries, whilst Old Town is the other “major”
settlement, with a beautiful beach and nature reserve. The
coastline features large stretches of deserted sandy beaches,
dramatic rocky coves, beautiful walks and stunning seascapes.

Tour Description:
The beautiful Isles of Scilly archipelago is dotted with sites of Special
Scientific Interest and Marine Conservation zones, perfect for
exploring by boat. Journey around the raw and rugged eastern
isles which are a haven for wildlife. End at St. Martin’s, home to
St. Martin’s vineyard. Stroll through the vineyard and savour the
tastes of the local wines along with delicious Cornish cheeses before
returning to the Golden Horizon.
Tour Notes: This excursion is dependent on tides and conditions; therefore, the duration and itinerary can change last minute. The tour is unguided, but there will be an escort. The skipper on the wildlife cruise will provide commentary. The Wildlife cruise departs and returns to the ship, using the embarkation ladder. There is no option to wait and be picked up later, due to tides. Wear flat comfortable shoes to negotiate inclines, rough ground and approximately 2 miles of walking. This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Wildlife Cruise & St Martins Vineyard
Port: PlymouthThe ancient city of Plymouth is perhaps one of the best-known
Maritime cities in the world. Its strategic positioning and large
natural harbour made Plymouth a traditional stronghold for
the Royal Navy and Royal Marines and historic evidence of
their continuous presence is to be seen at every glance. Across
the water of Plymouth Sound lies fortified Drake’s Island
guarding the approaches and in contrast the idyllic Mount
Edgcumbe country estate sits elegantly opposite.

Tour Description:
Discover the ancient city of Plymouth with a local guide. Walk up from
the waterside to Plymouth’s Barbican. This is the original trading dock of
the city. Nowadays the warehouses are homes to fashionable galleries,
cafés and quaint antique shops. You will see the Mayflower steps from
where the Pilgrim Fathers departed for the New World in 1620 and
enjoy views of Sutton Harbour. Nearby lies the fortified Garrison, or
Citadel overlooking the approaches to the harbour. Walk up to the Hoe
where Drake was famously playing bowls when he received news of the
invading Armada. ‘We have time to finish the game’ he is reported to
have said! From here there are fine views across the city and out to sea.
At this point, return downhill to the Barbican and the busy portside
before returning to the ship.

Plymouth Walking Tour

Tour Description:
Tender ashore to Scilly’s second largest island, Tresco where you will
visit the world-class Tresco Abbey gardens. This incredible sub-tropical
‘botanical paradise’ has been planted in the ruins of a Benedictine priory
under the direction of Augustus Smith. Today the gardens are home
to an impressive collection of 20,000 plant species heralding from as
far as New Zealand, South America and South Africa. Stroll around
the gardens at leisure to uncover the many treasures including the
magnificent Valhalla figure head collection of ship-wrecked figureheads
and decorative carvings, most dating from 19th Century merchant sailing
vessels and steamships who met their demise off Scilly’s shores.
Tour Notes: Please note guests are expected to walk up to 1.8miles (one-hour) over some uneven surfaces with slopes and steps. This tour is not recommended for wheelchair guests. It is advisable to wear flat and comfortable shoes and clothing. If guests wish to purchase refreshments this will be at their own expense.
Exotic Tresco Abbey Gardens

Tour Description:
Travel through the Hartland Moor National Reserve to Lulworth Cove,
on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Enjoy a stop here to admire
the views before continuing to one of England’s most impressive
and romantic medieval ruins. Corfe Castle’s hilltop position offers
magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. By the 13th century the
castle was being used as a royal treasure storehouse and prison and it
remained a royal fortress until 1572 when it was sold by Elizabeth I to her
Lord Chancellor, Sir Christopher Hatton.
Tour Notes: This tour includes up to 1.5km of walking. Access to the castle is over a cobbled footpath and paths within the castle are steep with steps. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Any wheelchair users must be accompanied as the guide cannot take responsibility for them during the tour.
Lulworth Cove & Corfe Castle
Port: PooleThis Dorset town is home to Europe’s largest natural harbour,
a site of nature conservation. The coastal town also has a rich
heritage which dates back thousands of years. From Poole
Harbour, watch as boats head south to Brownsea Island or
spend the day visiting some of England’s south coast jewels.
