University of Louisville - Summer PEPP Program

Attention seniors interested in Dentistry or Medicine---the Professional Education Preparation Program (PEPP) Pre-College Summer Residential Workshop will be held at the University of Louisville from June 7 – July 2, 2015. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ATTEND U of L FOR UNDERGRAD TO PARTICIPATE IN PEPP. You will receive academic enrichment in challenging freshman level sciences, one-on-one advising (that continues throughout college), 5 days of clinical observations in areas of interest, career exploration, networking opportunities, and much more! Above all, PEPP prepares you to make the transition to college and pave a road to success in the pre-health courses. You will also be connected to other programs and resources in the health careers pipeline. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. Application window is from November 1-March 1 (Apply early!!) Two scholarship opportunities for your seniors:

1. The first scholarship is "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or

college. Interested students can visit this link http://www.fashion-schools.org/ and find the scholarship

located at the bottom of the page and click on it.

2. The 2nd Scholarship is the "Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship Program. This is the 4th year we are awarding this scholarship for AnimationCareerReview.com. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. We ask that you have interested students visit our website, http://www.animationcareerreview.com/ to find eligibility information along with the online application. The scholarship will be on the right side of the page and click on it.

The deadline for both scholarships is June 1, 2015.

FACULTY: For those who chose a LivingWell plan you need to complete your LivingWell promise? It can be done one of two ways: Vitality Check (biometric screening) or the online Health Assessment (same as last year). The deadline to complete the LivingWell Promise is before May 1.

Construction Apprenticeship School to Hold Open House April 22, 2015

Erlanger, KY - April 7, 2015; The Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky’s Enzweiler Apprenticeship Program will be holding an open house on April 22, 2015 from 6:30-8:00pm. The program is the longest running privately owned apprenticeship program in the nation. The demand for skilled trades people is growing at a rate not seen since before the recession. In a recent study conducted by the association Northern Kentucky will need 2,000 new skilled trades people by 2020 and an additional 3,000 by 2025.

The program boasts a 98% job placement rate and a 76% job retention rate for three years upon enrollees’ graduation. Classes are held in the evening for two evenings between September and April. Two year programs focus on Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Carpentry, Plumbing, Masonry, and Facilities, Maintenance and Remodeling. A four year program is available in electric and a one year incumbent program is available in welding.

Programs are focused on licensure with some courses producing graduates with a 100% licensure exam pass rate. Since 2009 the program has expanded from 57 enrollees to 212 during the 2014-2015 school year. Classroom space is limited and early registration is encouraged to ensure entry into the program. The mission of the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky is to promote and enhance the integrity and visibility of the construction industry and the members of the organization through advocacy, communication, education and political action.

Murray State Summer Art Workshop for high school student’s grades 9-12 will be held June 14-June 19. Workshop fee is $375. Fee includes tuition, room (double occupancy), board (3 meals/day), accident insurance and all instructional materials. Housing will be in residence halls. Classes include: digital animation, ceramics, art history, hand drawing & photo silkscreen, and digital photography. The Anthony Muñoz Foundation, through The Scholarship Fund, is providing a $20,000 scholarship to seven seniors in the Tri-State area. Qualifications include:

Brown Mackie College announces $5,000 President's Scholarship Program. BMC is excited to offer scholarship opportunities to students looking for post-secondary education in the fields of business, health care, legal studies, and technology. This year they will be awarding two (2) $5,000 tuition scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. Students must be admitted to BMC by May 1st to be eligible.

The Gatton Academy of Math & Science is the Commonwealth's first residential high school for students interested in pursuing advanced careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students take all their coursework through Western KY University with regularly enrolled college students. This academy empowers KY's exceptional young scientists and mathematicians to live and learn in an environment which offers advanced educational opportunities, preparing them for leadership roles.
