January Pack Meeting Information It’s a Pack Pizza Party! To celebrate our popcorn
accomplishments, we will be having a pizza party for the
Pack. The Pack will be providing pizza and recognizing our
top popcorn sellers. Scouts will receive their prizes and
sellers will get to pie their Den Leader with a whipped
cream pie. Additionally, we will have our traditional Pack Meeting
activities with awards, a Bobcat Ceremony and This Day in History. A
guest from Harford District will also be in attendance to discuss the
Baltimore Area Council Friends of Scouting Campaign – the annual fund
drive to support Scouting in Central Maryland. Please consider making
a contribution. Families are asked to bring a 2 liter bottle of soda or
juice to the Pack Meeting. Leftover unopened drinks will be held for the
Pinewood Derby refreshment table. The theme for this month’s Pack
meeting is Positive Attitude – I’m positive the pizza party will be a blast!

January Pack Meeting Information Pinewood Derby Coming in FEBRUARY is the 2015 Pack 809
Pinewood Derby! Now is the time to start
thinking about your car design! This year’s
Pinewood Derby will be held on February 8th,
starting at 1pm, at Fallston United Methodist
Church. MANDATORY car check-in will take place at JUMC from
1-3:30 pm on January 31st. All Scouts and siblings MUST check-in
their cars at that time. There will be 6 race classes this year: Tigers,
Wolves, Bears, Webelos, Siblings (Elementary School and younger)
and Open (Middle School and older). Awards will be given for: Top
3 in each class, and top 3 finishers in the overall final race (does not
include siblings or open classes). In addition, there will be 5 special
awards categories: Emphasis on Scouting, Most Creative, Sports
Theme, Most Patriotic and Scout’s Choice. Sibling and Open cars
will be included in the voting for the Scout’s Choice category only.
All other categories will be for Scouts only. Check out our Pack
website for the complete rules, regulations and for more
information.
Positive Attitude Definition: Being cheerful and setting our minds to look for and
find the best in all situations.
As boys participate in various activities, they will come to
understand that all things will change and they can make a
difference in how that change affects their lives. A positive
outlook will provide hope and excitement for their future.

Pinewood Derby
Scout Sunday Worship Service
The Boy Scouts of America was officially chartered by Congress on
February 8th, 1910. Each year, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers
across the country celebrate the birthday of Scouting on Scout Sunday
by attending a church service. Pack 809 will be attending the 9am
service on Sunday, February 8th, at Jarrettsville United Methodist Church, along with Boy
Scout Troop 809. There will be opportunities for a limited number of Scouts to
participate in the service. Scouts should wear their best Class A uniform (blue shirts).
All Scouts who attend Scout Sunday Service in uniform will receive the annual recogni-
tion patch. If your church commitments make you unavailable to attend Jarrettsville
United Methodist, please consider having your Scout wear his uniform to your church
service to celebrate Scout Sunday.
Blue and Gold Banquet Program Cover Contest All Scouts will have an opportunity to design the cover of the Blue and Gold Banquet
Program. The contest winner will have their artwork on the front cover and the second
place artist will have their design on the back cover. All contestants who contribute a
cover design will serve as the Color Guard for the Blue and Gold Banquet. Cover
contest entry forms will be distributed at the Pinewood Derby check-in and collected at
the Pinewood Derby.
