TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The reign of God comes about because people commit to reversing their lives completely, to embracing new vision, new values and wants. Many popular television shows exploit an unattractive side of human nature by pitting contestants against one another, even to the point of performing dangerous stunts or having them live/stay in areas with no basic amenities, to earn money or favor or to be ‘in the in’, in all types of social media.

At the liturgy, we counter that impulse by committing ourselves to live generously. In response to Christ’s total gift, we offer bread and wine as the emblems of our lives, our hopes, our joys and sorrows. The bread and wine carried to the altar contain our lives, and by offering our lives to God, we prepare to receive the gift of God’s own life. We are to become what we receive: the body of Christ.

On Sundays, this self‑giving is often accompanied by a collection and procession of gifts for the poor and money for the upkeep of the parish. There are certainly other methods of collecting money, some perhaps more efficient. Yet the acts of giving from our abundance and attending to the needs of the poor open us up to participation in the changes the Reign of God requires.

Parish Employment Opportunity Our Parish seeks a people-oriented, computer-savvy, Parish Relations/Administrative Coordinator for our Parish Office. We seek a highly motivated individual with exceptional skills in organization, communication, database management, and light bookkeeping. The successful candidate, who will be the first contact in our Parish Office, needs to be an outgoing, personable individual with a willingness to assist parishioners and other guests of the Church. The job responsibilities include all aspects of the Parish Office, from scheduling Baptisms, Mass requests, recording Sacraments, maintaining the Parish registry to assisting with Church mailings. In addition, the ideal candidate will be the Bulletin Editor and assist Fr. Lawrence and the Parish Business Manager as needed. Please email your resume to Fr. Lawrence at [email protected] or mail to the Church office, Attn: Fr. Lawrence Seyer.

SAFEGUARD OUR CHILDREN Did you know?

Educate Children to Identify Risky Behavior

Recently, abuse against women has been thrust into the public spotlight, with the “Me Too” movement. It is important for parents/caregivers be aware of risks to girls and risks to boys. Boys and girls both need to be educated on what’s acceptable and what’s inappropriate, and how to react if someone does something that crosses the line. It is important for adults to reinforce the message that we must all look for, identify, and call attention to the risky behavior exhibited by any adult toward any child. TODAY’S READINGS

First Reading — I have lifted high the lowly tree (Ezekiel 17:22-24). Psalm — Lord, it is good to give thanks to you (Psalm 92). Second Reading — Whether we are at home or away, we aspire to please the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-10). Gospel — It is the smallest of all seeds, and becomes the largest of plants (Mark 4:26-34)

SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES

THE POPE’S CHOIR FIRST-EVER

U.S. NATIONAL TOUR

JULY 23rd in LOS ANGELES At the MICROSOFT THEATER

Tickets for the Sistine Chapel Choir’s first-ever performance in Los Angeles are still on sale. The Pope’s Choir from Rome will perform during their much-anticipated U.S. National Tour at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on July 23rd. Tickets are available at SistineChapelChoirTour.com or AXS.com. Serving as the Pope’s personal choir, today, the 1500-year old Sistine Chapel Choir is the oldest and most respected active choir in the world today. Officially known as the Cappella Musicale Pontificia Sistina, part of the Choir’s significance is due to its endurance through several centuries, including the Renaissance, which was a fundamental period for the Choir as it found its “theatre” in the Sistine Chapel.

Father’s Day Novena A Father’s Day Novena of Masses begins this Sunday, Father’s Day and continues thru Tuesday, June 26th. This is a wonderful way to honor our fathers, living or deceased. The special intention cards are on the tables by all the Church doors. You may place them in the Offertory basket or bring them to the Parish Office.

Heavenly Father, you entrusted your Son Jesus,

the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph, an earthly father.

Bless all fathers as they care for their families.

Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness and patience;

support them in the work they have to do,

protecting those who look to them,

as we look to you for love and salvation,

through Jesus Christ. Amen.

WHOLE COMMUNITY FAITH SHARING Gospel Mark 4:26-34

Reflection:  Scatter the seeds and the word of the Lord and let the word grow.  The smallest of seeds grows large enough for a bird to land on its branch.  The seeds we scatter today will grow strong to withstand the comparative weight of any burden. Reflective Question:  Where do I see the Kingdom of God growing and how can I be a part of this growth? Faith Response: People who live by Kingdom values do not follow society's ways. We are to be countercultural as Jesus was: embracing the outcast, proclaiming God's love for all, offering healing and reconciliation. And always we are given the grace to act as His disciples.

12 Reasons From The Teachings Of The Church For Wanting

To Spend One Hour With Jesus In The Blessed Sacrament (OLMC Adoration Every Wednesday, 5pm to 8pm)

1. You are greatly needed! "The Church and the world have a great need of eucharistic adoration." (Pope John Paul II, Dominicae Cenae) 2. This is a personal invitation to you from Jesus. "Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love." (Pope John Paul II, Dominicae Canae)

3. Jesus is counting on you because the Eucharist is the center of life. "Every member of the Church must be vigilant in seeing that the sacrament of love shall be at the center of the life of the people of God so that through all the manifestations of worship due him shall be given back ‘love for love’ and truly become the life of our souls." (Pope John Paul II, Redeemer of Man)

4. Your hour with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament will repair for evils of the world and bring about peace on earth. "Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Jesus and ready to make reparation for the great evils of the world. Let your adoration never cease." (Pope John Paul II, Dominicai Cenae)

5. Day and night Jesus dwells in the Blessed Sacrament because you are the most important person in the world to him! "Christ is reserved in our churches as the spiritual center of the heart of the community, the universal Church and all humanity, since within the veil of the species, Christ is contained, the invisible heart of the Church, the Redeemer of theworld, the center of all hearts, by him all things are and of whom we exist." (PopePaul IV, Mysterium Fidei)

6. Jesus wants you to do more than to go to Mass on Sunday. "Our communal worship at mass must go together with our personal worship of Jesus in Eucharistic adoration in order that our love may be complete." (Pope John Paul II, Redeemer of Man)
