The Lord tries us out,
even tantalizes us, before
choosing to work with us.
God did this with
Abraham, with Peter,
James and John, even with
Jesus! But Jesus, God’s own Son, “stands and pleads for
us now” that we not be “led into temptation or put to the
test beyond our means…. God is on our side and who
now can be against us?” With the Trinity’s prompting and
our willing obedience during this Lent, we can come

prueba, hasta nos provoca antes de comenzar a actuar en
nosotros. Dios hizo esto con Abraham, Pedro, Santiago y
Juan, y hasta con Jesús. Pero Jesús, el Hijo de Dios,
venció y ahora pide por nosotros para que no caigamos en
la tentación, y no seamos tentados más allá de lo que
podemos resistir. “Si Dios está a nuestro favor, ¿quién
estará en contra nuestra?” Con la Santísima Trinidad
fortaleciéndonos, y nuestra plena voluntad de obedecer en

Are you looking to start the New Year Serving the Lord? St. Stephen Ministry does just that and we are looking for compassionate, caring people to join us. There are always many people in our Parish and community going through a difficult time in their lives and could use a shoulder to lean on, someone to pray with them and give them emotional support. We will be starting another class at the end of this month and scheduling interviews in the meantime. Safe and Sacred
In accordance with the bishops of the United States and the requirements of the Diocese of Fresno, all volunteers who have access to children must complete a background check and Safe Environment training course.
This same course, Safe and Sacred, is available for FREE to all parishioners. As Catholics, we are a people who safeguard our greatest treasure—our children—and this course increases our awareness and ability to prevent and protect children from abuse.
Safe and Sacred is a three-part course including Child Abuse, Internet Safety, and Bullying. We highly recommend all adults in the parish to take advantage of this free course! The more we learn, the more we can be part of the solution to the terrible tragedy of child abuse in our society today.
To log in, go to the Diocese's safe environment training website at https://safeandsacred-fresno.org. Click "Create new account" to register. When completing the registration fields, under Primary Institution, choose "Church - Our Lady of Victory, Fresno" and select "Parish volunteer" for registration; then click "Create my new account." Finally, click "Continue" to confirm your account and enter the training site.

Grief Education &
Support Group If you have experienced the death of a loved one and would like help navigating your journey of grief, then the St. Benedict Catholic Worker Grief Education and Support Group may be for you. The Grief Education and Support Group is a 12-week experience facilitated by Liza Apper, OblOSB, MPS. This group will help give you the tools to get through your grief and the support
of others traveling on this grief journey. The Grief Education and Support Group will meet on Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. starting March 7 and ending May 30. The group will meet at the St. Benedict Catholic Worker House at 4022 N. Cheryl Ave. in Fresno (cross streets are Ashlan and Marks). For information, contact Liza Apper at 559-229-6410.
