Food Industry Network's core goal is to developing the interests of its members by promoting open innovation within the UK’s food and drinks sector. We are active supporters of open innovation with a key focus of linking large companies, small businesses, entrepreneurs and academia. In doing this Food Industry Network provides a range of
products and draws on the experience of its executive management team.

PRODUCTSDeveloping Capability
FIN has access to some of the UK’s leading thinkers and practitioners within the Open Innovation arena. It is able to deliver bespoke training appropriate to the needs of its clients.
Training
Roadmapping is a specific technique designed to provide an organisation with a ‘road map’ to transform from its current to desired state. It can be as broad or as narrow as needed. Our Roadmapping approach is based on the work of Rob Phaal who has trained our lead practioners.
Roadmapping
FIN is able to arrange and run workshops on a specific topic designed to meet the needs of clients. These can be delivered in house or more generally to delegates from a number of organisations. Opening the workshops up to a wider audience is a good way of stimulating interactions that lead to Open Innovation opportunities.
Workshops
FIN has developed a high level user group to allow Open Innovation executives to meet and share experiences. The aim of the group is to allow sharing of best practice within the sector and to access best practice from outside.

FIN has a large network of contacts across the UK’s academic and industrial sector. This market knowledge is available to identify potential collaborators and partners for Open Innovation projects.
Brokerage
FIN is able to provide events focused around a single topic nominated by the event sponsor. In conjunction with the sponsor FIN will organising an appropriate group of delegates from academia, industry and funding groups. FIN will manage the event using a mixture of creative and traditional management techniques to generate Open Innovation opportunities.
Innovation Events
FIN uses a full range of social media to communicate with members and other stakeholders. Member companies and sector thought leaders are invited to contribute. Open Innovation is our central theme and generates interest which leads to active engagement.

PRODUCTSDelivering the Opportunity
FIN builds collaborative groups and consortiums to address multi-disciplined problems and of working through the practical issues associated with drafting a workable Open Innovation agreement.
Consortium
With success in both UK and EU grant applications (IUK, FP7, Marie Curie, EPSRC, BBSRC) FIN develops successful, efficient and cost effective project plans. This includes developing project structures, defining objectives, work packages, resource requirements, risk assessment and budget.
Project Planning
FIN’s executive team are key influencers and thought leaders in the food sector. They lead projects which range from zero cost pilots to £7m infrastructure development programmes. The team manage UK and internationally funded programmes.
