    MATERIALS

    1. DK weight , size 3 yarn in three colors. I used colors Naked, Carrots and Baby Red from Baby Bee Yarn, Sweet Delight Baby.

    2. Hook- F ( 3.75)mm or size needed to obtain gauge3. Two inch buttons for back closure and a pair of 3/4 inch buttons for the straps.4. Yearn needle to weave in the ends

    GAUGE

    With F hook, 18 sc stitches = 4 inches

The row gauge doesn't matter. You can stop when you reach the required width fpr the bodice.

    Lace Pattern gauge

    With F hook: 5 shells alternating with 5 sc stitches = 7 inches5 shell rows alternating with 5 sc rows= 4 inches

    STITCH EXPLANATION

    1. Shell: (1 dc, ch 1, 1dc, ch 1, 1 dc) all worked in to a single st or space to make a fan like structure.2. Reverse Single Crochet: Worked just like a regular single crochet but you work from left to right and insert you hook in to the stitch on the right before pulling up a loop. See pic below:

    1. Insert hook in to the stitch on the right, pull up a loop and work a sc

Tips for Working with Three Colors:-1. When you are ready to join the next color, put your current working yarn clockwise to the right. Bring the new color to the left passing it under the third color as well. So your new working yarn will be to the left and the other two colors will stay on top of it and out of the way to the right as shown in the picture below.

    2. If you have to frog in between your work, make sure you wind each color before frogging the next color to avoid a tangled mess.

3.If you rotate your work while counting your stitches at the end of the round, rotate in the opposite direction to unwind the intertwined yarns when you are done counting.

    PATTERN

The pattern is worked in the round to eliminate any seams and has a button closure at the back.

Note: 1. The instructions are written for the smallest size with stitch counts for bigger sizes given

in brackets in the order NB (3mos ,6 mos, 12 mos, 18 mos, 24 mos).2. All the pictures have been given at the end of the pattern numbered sequentially. Please

refer to the pictures when mentioned in the written pattern. You can choose not to print them out to save on printer ink.

    3. Every time you change colors, please follow the steps on Page 4 above to keep your work seamless.

    BODICE

Bodice is first worked as a long rectangular piece.

    With cream color yarn Ch 73 (81,85, 93, 97, 105)Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd chain from hook, 1 sc in each chain across; turn.----------- 72, (80, 84, 92, 96, 104) st

Row 2: Ch 1 ( does not count as a st), 1 sc in same st as beginning ch 1, 1 sc in each st across; turn.----------------- 72, (80, 84, 92, 96, 104) st

    Repeat row 2 till your work measures 2 ( 2 , 3 , 3 , 3 , 4 ) inches.

Last Row: Ch 1 ( does not count as a st), 1 sc in same st as ch 1, 2 sc in next, *(1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next ), repeat from * till end of the round, join with a sl st to the first sc as shown in pic 4 given at end of the pattern to join two sides of the bodice at one point. Drop the cream color to pick up later and join the peach color yarn.------------- 108 (120, 126, 138, 144, 156) st around counting the sl at as a st too

    SKIRT

NOTE: 1.The color is changed every round. The previous color yarn is not cut off but just dropped and picked up later. Please see Tips for working with 3 colors on page 3.

    2. The lacy skirt is worked in the round directly on to the bodice, see pic 5. Explanation for a shell is given under Stitch Explanation on page 3 at the beginning of the pattern.

Round 3: Your working yarn will be in the dip between two shells of the previous round. See pic 6 for dip and peak of a shell.

Ch 4 with the new red yarn, (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in to the same point as chain 4 ( See Pic 7) , skip 2 st, 1 sc in next, skip 2 st, *(1 shell in next, skip 2 st, 1 sc in next st, skip 2 st) * , repeat from *_*, till end of the round, sl st to the top of beginning ch 3. BUTTON HOLE BAND

A buttonhole band is worked in to the back bodice of the dress where you have the opening. The ch 1 and skip 1 in row 3 below will form eyelet buttonholes. The button hole band should be worked in the same color as your first row of shells to keep the sl stitch seam invisible.

Row 1: Sl st to the point where the two sides of the bodice join as shown in pic 9 and work up towards the top of the bodice, ch 1 ( not counted as a st here and throughout) , 1 sc in to the same point as ch 1, work sc stitches distributed as evenly as possible across the row ends. I worked one in to each row end. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1 , 1 sc in same st as ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, when you reach near the lacy skirt part, sl st to the lacy part, make a second sl st in front of the first as shown in pic 10. Turn.

Row 3 ( Button Hole Row): Ch 1, 1 sc in each st till you are half way up the band, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1sc in each st across till 3 stitches left, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in last 2 st. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st and chain space across, sl st to the lacy part and fasten off.

    SHOULDER STRAPS

Note: I did the foundation chain and the stitches tight for the strap to get 8sc st in 2 inches. 3 inches will be reduced from the strap lengths after you stitch and button them up.

    Finishes Sizes of straps:

Proceed to work a reverse single crochet round all around the strap. At the end of the round, sl st to the first reverse single crochet and fasten off. See stitch explanation on page 3 for reverse single crochet.

    TIE AROUND WAIST

Make a long chain 34 (36 ,37, 38, 39, 41 ) inches long. Sl st in to each chain and fasten off.

    FLOWER

Note: You will be making 3 small, 4 medium and 7 big petals. The flower is worked flat and rolled in to shape. The flower is worked using F hook and has a finished diameter of almost 1 inches.

    1. Leaving a long tail and using F Hook, ch 31, sl st to 5 th chain from hook, *(ch 3, sk next ch, sl st to next) , repeat from * total 2 times----------you get 3 chain loops for the tiny petals.

    2. *(ch 4, sk next ch, sl st to next), repeat from * a total of 4 times-----------you get 4 loops for the medium petals

    3. *(Ch 6, sk next ch, sl st to next ch) repeat from * a total of 7 times------you get 7 loops for the big petals. See Pic 13 to see how your flower will look now.

    4. Turn and start working the petals in to the chain loops as follows:

*( 1 hdc in to the ch-6 loop, 7 dc, 1 hdc, sl st to next chain loop) Repeat from * a total of 7 chain loops-------7 big petals, see pic 14 below.

    5. *( 1 hdc, 6dc, 1 hdc, sl st to next chain loop) Repeat from * for a

total of 4 times------------4 medium petals

    6. *(4 hdc in the small chain loop, sl st in the same loop, sl st to next chain loop)

Repeat from * for a total of 3 times and fasten off leaving a long tail---------3

    tiny petals

    Finishing the Flower

    See pics 15 to 18 .

The petals wont lie flat and will be all curly . Lay it flat and roll the flower with the tiny petals in the center. Roll in such a way that the second layer of petals will show through the gaps between the first layer. Use the yarn tail to sew the flower in to shape. You insert the needle all the way up catching all the layers. Repeat this at three or more places taking care to run your needle through the center part of

the flower and not the petal tips.

    Finishing the Dress

    1. Work a round of reverse single crochet starting from the point as shown on pic 11 below, go around the top edge of the bodice and the buttonhole band, fasten off.

    2. Weave in the tails3. Sew on the buttons for the back closure and straps4. Sew the straps on to the front side of the bodice inserting almost 1 inches inside. I sewed

along the grooves between the sc rows in 2 places. The back side of the strap has the button closure. See Measurement chart in Pic 12 to see how far to space your straps.

    5. Pin the flower to the dress using a safety pin6. Pass the waist tie in and out through the first round of shells and tie bunny ears at the front
