My Kingdom Does Not Belong
to This World: As the Church
celebrates the Solemnity of Christ the
King this weekend, our hearts are fixed
on heaven, from where our God reigns.
For our King, born in the stable in
Bethlehem, son of Mary and Joseph the carpenter, had
no political power in the world. He did not command
military troops nor consult with court official. Instead, he
came as one like us that he might show us the way to
love and reign in our hearts as he reigns in heaven. Our
benevolent Lord and King, Jesus, has chosen to dwell
with us and has promised to prepare a place for us to
dwell with him in heaven. So, we must ask ourselves,
what kingdom are we choosing to live for? Are we
seeking to build up a kingdom for ourselves in this life
that is bound to pass away? Or will we work hard now to
store up for ourselves treasure in heaven and come to
share in the glory of the kingdom to come. On Mission for
The Church Alive! seeks to strengthen the Church and
increase the opportunities for us and others to grow
closer to God and share in the life of his kingdom here
and now. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more
and to stay informed.
Helping Hands now have decorated
Angel Trees at all three churches.
The trees will hold requests for presents for
children at: CURA, Angels Place North Side
location, Angel Place Swissvale location,
Boys and Girls Club of Carnegie, Family Promise, and
adults at Washington Commons and Amity Serenity
Pines.
Help us spread the Christmas spirit by putting a smile on
our bothers and sisters with your special gift. Please take
one or maybe even two ornaments off of any of the trees,
then place your wrapped gift under the tree of the same
church. Also please attach the paper ornament to the gift
so we can identify who the gift is for. This is very im-
portant so that we deliver the gifts to the correct location.
Please return all wrapped gifts by Sun., December 9.
Any question on our Angel Tree or any event of Helping
Hands please contact Pam Fantoni at 4122763266 or
4126382306.
Breakfast in Bethlehem: Children (ages 38) may

charge thanks to Holy Child Christian Mothers and Confir-
mation Students. A good will donation will be accepted.

learn to use our churches automatic defibrillator. There is
no charge for the AED Training. There is a $40 charge if
interested in CPR certification. All are welcome. Please
note the day change from the bulletin November Calen-
dar. Any questions, call Gary Liebel at 4124989021.
Holy Child Religious Education Building
Religious give thanks. “This mon-
ey is pure gift,” writes a religious sister
of the support made possible by the
Retirement Fund for Religious. “It ena-
bles us to continue providing care for
our elderly sisters.” Your gift to last
week’s collection helps hundreds of religious communities
meet pressing retirement needs while continuing to serve
the People of God. Thank you for our generosity!
Christmas Kolbassi is being sold by the Men’s Club
of St. Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church. Price is $6.00
per pound sold in two (2) pound packages. Please call
Mike Kranack at 412276137 to place your order. If no
one answers, please leave your order information. You
can also email orders to [email protected]. Pick up
is at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 8th in front of the
Holy Child Religious Education Building on Station Street.
A Family Perspective (by Bud Ozar): When we are
young, our parents “tell us about Jesus” and we believe
what our parents believe. At some point we must leave our
parents faith and ask Pilate’s question: “Are you the King?”
Pilate is just asking these questions on our behalf.

Thank you from Fr. Joe!

It's been a few weeks since I've come up to the North
Hills and though it's been a smooth transition and a great
first month, I really miss you guys. I was totally blown
away by all the love and kindness I experienced while I
was there and I continue to be grateful to the Lord for my
time with you all. So many people gave me cards and
gifts (and cigars) and I'd love to be able to thank each one
of you personally, but I know with all the transitions and
the responsibilities with my new assignment I won't be
able to get all the thank you notes out. So I just wanted to
write and say Thank You so much for all the parting gifts,
cards, and kind words. You've been so generous and I'm
deeply grateful. Praying for you all daily. Fr. Joe
