COWRIE CREEK ESTATE OPENING CEREMONY – PRESIDENT’S SPEECH

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Lagos, Mr. BabajideSanwo-Olu; His Royal Majesty Oba SaheedElegushi, Kusenla III of Ikate-Elegushi; represented by Hon. AnofiElegushiDirector of Cooperatives, Lagos StateDirector of Cooperatives, Rivers State, Mr. George NwachukwuExecutive Management of Nigeria LNG Limited Presidents and Executives of IOC CooperativeAll other protocols observed

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of the Management Committee of the NLNG Cooperative, it is my pleasure to welcome you all to the opening ceremony of the NLNG Cooperative Cowrie Creek Estate. This day has been a long time coming. Initially conceived in 2006, but commenced in 2007, this project was the first real estate project initiated by NLNG Cooperative. As audacious as it seemed then, reclaiming land from hitherto water, few thought it could be done. Before then, very few examples of such estates existed. I thank the former NLNG Cooperative President Otunba Babatunde Fasanmi for his vision in initiating this project and I also thank HRM the late Oba YekiniElegushi for his magnanimity in granting us approval to undertake this project in his domain.

Of course those we grew up in Lagos and Eti-Osa Local Government in particular will be familiar with the name 5 Cowrie Creek Lagoon. It is an estuary of the larger Lagos Lagoon. Lagoon which in Portugese means 'Lakes.”It is this body of water from which the estate derives its name. it is also where the name of the state (Lagos) is derived.

The development of this estate underwent a period of obsolescence due to a myriad of reasons. From poor project management to a dearth of financing, this project nearly ground to a halt before the advent of my administration. Today is the culmination of a pledge I made when I entered office almost 2 years ago: to conclude this project within my tenure. I'm happy that this has now been achieved. I want to especially thank the subscribers for their commitment, patience and resilience. Though it has been a bumpy road, we have finally arrived at our destination even as the cooperative represents the strength of collective will.

ESTATE STATISTICS1. Total Land size is approximately: 45 Hectares2. Average plot size: 800sqm3. There are a total of 377 subscribed plots4. The first resident moved into the estate in December 20175. Central power for utilities including a substation e. Central water works f. There is power back-up with a IPP solution underway g. When fully completed, the estate will have a recreation and commercial hub which will include a clubhouse, sports center, and a shopping mall. Discussions are on-going with the State Government for a recreation jetty to be sited on the waterfront at the Northern shoreline of the estate.

To those of you who're yet to develop your plots, I'm happy to announce that there'll be an accelerated development scheme to be rolled-out soon. The Cooperative will be partnering with developers with pedigree to provide finance and flexible payment terms to achieve economies of scales for affordable and rapid home developments within the estate. The framework for this will be announced soon.

But today is not a day for long speeches; it is one for celebration. It is my joy today to see the fulfilment of member's aspirations.

It is a day to celebrate the triumph of hope over fear, of inspiration over intimidation. As the saying goes: fortune favors the bold! Today, this estate with its word-class facilities stands shoulder to shoulder with the best.

I dare say it is amongst the best and most desirable estates within the Lekki corridor and the Island in general, providing a serene haven for homeowners and a lucrative asset for investors.

On this note, I'd like to announce that the Cooperative is not done yet. Considering that the best time, they say, to make an investment is in a depressed economy, we're on the cusp of launching another phase of this project tagged CCE 2. It will be launched in the coming weeks and months. With the learnings of the past and the vision for the future, we will supersede the success of Phase One.

1. It entails the reclamation of another 40 hectares of land from the lagoon2. It will have world-class infrastructure. A. Specifically, we're evaluating domestic LPG reticulation to provide pipeline cooking gas direct to the homes much-like Western countries. B. In addition, there will be independent power plant for lower-cost and reliable power

Whether you're buying for a home or as an investment, you can't go wrong. It will truly be an investor's delight and an opportunity for growth.

Further details on these will be made available soon.

But once again, congratulations to all subscribers and may this estate produce many, many happy homes.

A special thank you to my executive team for their support and to the CCE committee who worked tirelessly and with tactical delivery to make this dream a reality.

Thank you all in helping us to deliver on our mandate.

Long Live NLNG Cooperative!

Thank you and God Bless you.
