17th September, 1929.

.......Society.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

T HE AGRICULTURAL COMMITTEE of the Co-operative Union,

being anxious to know the extent of inter-trading at present

operating between retail co-operative societies and farmers or their

societies, would be glad if you would supply information as requested

in the following questionnaire.

The replies from societies will be treated as confidential,

and only group figures and totals will be used. The information sought

is vitally important, and the committee require it in order to protect the

interests of societies in relation to milk and other supplies. If in the

case of any of the commodities mentioned precise figures are not easily

be. stained, an estimate. or. .approximation will be serviceable and

preferable to there being no information recorded by your society

Two copies of the questionnaire ar e enclosed in orderthat the Society may retain one for reference purposes.

An early reply will oblige,

Yours faithfully,

B A. PALMER,

General Secretary
