A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles (ACTS 7:55-60)

Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked up intently to heaven and saw theglory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and Stephen said,“Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right handof God.” But they cried out in a loud voice, covered their ears, and rushed uponhim together. They threw him out of the city, and began to stone him. Thewitnesses laid down their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul. As theywere stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fellto his knees and cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin againstthem;” and when he said this, he fell asleep.

A Reading from the Book of Revelations (REV 22:12-14, 16-17, 20)

I, John, heard a voice saying to me: “Behold, I am coming soon. I bring with me the recompense Iwill give to each according to his deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, thebeginning and the end.” Blessed are they who wash their robes so as to have the right to the tree oflife and enter the city through its gates. “I, Jesus, sent my angel to give you this testimony for thechurches. I am the root and offspring of David, the bright morning star.” The Spirit and the bride say,“Come.” Let the hearer say, “Come.” Let the one who thirsts come forward, and the one who wants itreceive the gift of life-giving water. The one who gives this testimony says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John (JN 17:20-26)

People: Glory to you, O Lord.

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying:“Holy Father, I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.And I have given them the glory you gave me,so that they may be one, as we are one,I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me,and that you loved them even as you loved me.Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am they also may be with me,that they may see my glory that you gave me,because you loved me before the foundation of the world.Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,but I know you, and they know that you sent me.I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them.”

From Fr. Patrick Curley....

I learned something new this week. A mother asked me about her daughter’s oddly constructed rosary beads. Shehad received them as a gift. If I recall correctly, they were purchased in Vatican City. The mother thought theymight be associated with St Michael the Archangel. I looked it up and wouldn’t you know it, there’s a St MichaelRosary prayer. I had no idea! A day or two later I prayed the St Michael Rosary myself. Why not glorify God andask Mary and our angelic companions for assistance? Below is how you pray it:

HOW TO PRAY THE ST. MICHAEL ROSARYThis Rosary begins with the invocation on the medal. Then say one Our Father and threeHail Marys after each of the nine salutations in honor of the nine Choir of Angels.

Invocation on the Medal: O God, come to my assistance! O Lord, make haste to helpme! Glory be to the Father……..etc.

1st Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly Choir ofSeraphim, may it please God to make us worthy to receive into our hearts the fire of his perfect charity. Amen.(1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

2nd Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly Choir of Cherubim, may God in his goodpleasure, grant us grace to abandon the ways of sin, and follow the path of Christian perfection. Amen.(1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

3rd Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the sacred Choir of Thrones, may it please God to infuseinto our hearts the spirit of true and sincere humility. Amen. (1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

4th Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly Choir of the Dominations, may it please Godto grant us grace to have dominion over our senses, and to correct our depraved passions. Amen.(1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

5th Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly Choir of the Powers, may God vouchsafe tokeep our souls from the wiles and temptations of the devil. Amen. (1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

6th Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the admirable heavenly Choir of the Virtues, may it pleaseGod to keep us from falling into temptation, and may He deliver us from evil. Amen.(1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

7th Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly Choir of Principalities, may it please God tofill our souls with the spirit of true and sincere obedience. Amen. (1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

8th Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly Choir of Archangels, may it please God togrant us the gift of perseverance in the faith, and in all good works, that we may be thereby enabled to attain theglory of paradise. Amen. (1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

9th Salutation: By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly Choir of all the Angels, may God vouchsafe togrant us their guardianship through this mortal life, and after death a happy entrance into the everlasting glory ofheaven. Amen. (1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys)

Say an Our Father on each of the four large concluding beads: The first one to St. Michael, The second one to St.Gabriel, The third one to St. Raphael, The fourth one to our Guardian Angel.

End this Rosary with the following Anthem and prayer:Anthem: Michael, glorious prince, chief and champion of the heavenly Host, guardian of the souls of men, conqueror of the rebel angels, steward of the palace of God under Jesus Christ, our worthy leader, endowed with superhuman excellence and virtues: vouchsafe to freeus all from every ill, who with full confidence have recourse to thee; and by thy incomparable protection enable us to make progressevery day in the faithful service of our God. V. Pray for us, most blessed Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ. R. That we maybe made worthy of his promises.

Prayer: Almighty and Eternal God, who in thine own marvelous goodness and pity didst, for the common salvation of man, choose theglorious Archangel Michael to be the prince of the Church: make us worthy, we pray Thee, to be delivered by his beneficent protectionfrom all our enemies, that, at the hour of our death, none of them may approach to harm us; rather do Thou vouchsafe unto us that by thesame Archangel Michael, we may be introduced into the presence of thy most high and divine majesty. Through the merits of the sameJesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
