The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College Bentleigh community came together to farewell the Class of 2016. The graduating class and their families joined staff and special guests for a Eucharist at St Peter's East Bentleigh to give thanks for their years at OLSH College. This was followed by the graduation ceremony when each student was presented with a certificate and gift. A celebratory dinner at the Lincoln of Toorak followed and there were some emotion charged speeches by the Principal Anne O'Loughlin, students and their parents. The Class of 2016 were welcomed to their final assembly by bagpipers and were presented with a rose by the Year 7 students. The assembly was a fitting way to farewell the Year 12 students who know they are most welcome back at the College because they are part of the OLSH family.

Geelong produced a beautiful, sunny day for this year’s SCSA Softball tournament. On arrival at Geelong Softball Centre both the Junior and Inter teams took to the field to play Clonard. Both teams won convincingly which built their confidence for the rest of the day. Inters Erica Papas and Kate Williamson pitched to a high standard all day, with Hayley Gorman backing them up as an energetic catcher. After an extremely close loss to MSJ during the round robin, the Inter team recovered with an outstanding game against Mercy. Unfortunately, they had to be satisfied with 2nd place overall as MSJ played too well in the Grand Final. Thanks to Mrs Rayment for her coaching expertise.

Abby Freney Year 10

The inexperienced Junior team played competitively, showing improvement throughout the day. Evelyn Lama competently took on the role of Pitcher, supported by Olivia May and Jada Daly in the Catcher position. OLSH Juniors won their consolation final to finish in 3rd place, and left Geelong looking forward to further developing their skills and strategies in the SESG after school competition. Thanks to coach, Megan Supple.
