Bad Weather Shelter (BWS) is weather activated

until the end of March because of El Niño El Niño has affected many, including the homeless. In response, the BWS will be weather activated through March 31, a whole month longer than originally planned, and so the opportunity to serve continues.

On March 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th, we need 12 volunteers to help anytime from 6:15-9:00pm, so even if you need to arrive late or need to leave early, there will be opportunities for you to help (the 12 volunteers can be a group, family, and/or individuals). Trained, professional staff will be on site to help direct volunteers.

For those who are unable to volunteer to man the shelter at night, you can still help by: donating cooked food (info on what is needed will be provided) making “food runs” for last minute items, such as salad, rolls or dessert (info on what is

needed will be provided and you will be reimbursed).

To help or for more info, contact Wayne Walker at (626) 429-5120 or [email protected] (on the subject line put: BWS) or contact Vikki Randall at [email protected].

Your Cross Cultural Team presents-

Young Women and Motorcycles

No, we are not talking about the latest Hollywood movie. We are instead presenting the

opportunities for our Easter offering. You will hear more in the weeks ahead, but briefly:

1. Our ministry partners Bitrus and Monica were raised in Northern Nigeria and have been

working among the poorest of the poor in those remote mountainous villages. Bringing

education, training, and the good news of Jesus, they work with a team of 25 staff to live

among and disciple these villagers. Unfortunately Boko Haram (a terrorist organization)

has attacked this part of Nigeria, destroying homes and taking with them the only means of

transportation for the staff, the motorcycle. We would like to re-supply the motorcycles so

the staff can once again bring hope and supplies to the remote places.

2. Our ministry partner Mossai Sanguma works in the forgotten northern part of the

Democratic Republic of the Congo. How can you make long term systemic change in

cycles of poverty, oppression, and corruption if people are not educated, and instilled with

the heart of Jesus? That is Mossai’s goal. He started a “University” on a prayer 5 years ago.

They have 17 young women who are near graduation in the fields of business, agriculture,

and medicine but do not have enough to cover the remainder of tuition ($520/person).

Our Easter offering will go to these wonderful people and their ministries. We will collect this

special offering on Easter Sunday, March 27th.

Psalm 10 reminds us: “O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek;

You will strengthen their heart, you will incline your ear

To do justice for the orphan and the oppressed…”

We also want to hear their needs and strengthen them. Amen.

Bibles for our 1st and 2nd grade students On February 14th, our first and second

grade student received their own Bible.

We hope having their very own Bible will

help encourage them to read and

memorize God’s Word.

Journey IN the Promised Land: We’re here!!!

God's Big Welcome • Sunday Mornings at 10:30am

We've arrived! Last year we studied the Journey TO the promised land—stories from the Old Testament of how God led his people. Now the excitement begins: we've arrived in the Promised Land, and JESUS is here! In March we will continue exploring six key stories that lead up to Easter Sunday. We are at the pinnacle of our Journey IN the Promised Land as we focus on the meaning of Jesus atoning death—and the wonderful promise of his resurrection from the dead: he is with us

Mighty Memorizers

Mighty Memorizers encourages kids to learn one memory verse per month, related to their

Sunday lessons. At the end of the year we honor our memorizers in a big celebration! The March verse is: "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us: –Rom. 5:8. . Challenge the whole family to learn this important message together. Kids can recite their verse to any of their Sunday School group leaders any time throughout the month.

Our students have had a wild time this

month. Both junior high and high school

have made the journey up to Calvin Crest

for our annual winter retreat. Along with

a hike to the Sequoia grove our junior

high students made the most of the snow,

finding leaders the most logical target for

many-a-snowball ambush. February

featured Nacho + Tacos, a dinner and

movie segment we have been doing once a

month. If you haven't seen Nacho Libre,

your ten years behind and are missing out, watch soon.

Along with the fun we have walked through John's gospel,

paying attention to who and what Jesus says he is. We

transition further into our theme of Novum [new thing]

and will take a look at Isaiah 43 for the month of March. If

your encouraged to read the text with us, please do so.

peace.
