SANDIWAY PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER DEFIBRILLATOR Just before the half term holiday, we received the defibrillator that you have kindly supported through the raising of sponsor money. This has been installed in the library and is available during school hours (7.30am-5.30pm) As previously written, we used the sponsor money to purchase and install the device and importantly train members of staff in its use. The rest of the money will be donated to the British Heart Foundation, which we will do in the next week. As I have said to the children, we hope that the device gathers dust and we never have to use it - however, it is great to know if it is there for any child or adult in the school community. CLASS BLOGS Can I encourage you to keep checking back at the class blogs (remember there is a password to access this section of the website) to find out what is happening in the classes - often extra information about homework is written in the blogs too. Y6 RESIDENTIAL TO LONDON I will be accompanying the Y6 children to London for three days next week from Monday - we are very much looking forward to Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London, The London Eye, a river cruise, visiting the Science Museum, watching Matilda at the theatre and enjoying an Italian restaurant meal. Miss Jardine will be more than happy to meet with you in my absence for the first part of next week. With such a busy week, I won’t be writing my normal newsletter next Wednesday. SCHOOL PHOTOS As promised, the group photo proofs have been sent home this week for you to see. We would like all orders back in school by the end of Monday 8th June so that we can collate these in time for the photos to be processed by the end of term. TEACHING STAFF FOR NEXT YEAR Although we still have half a term left this year, I know that you will be keen to know the staffing arrangements for teachers from September. There are a few changes this year: Reception: Mrs Forsyth/Mrs Molyneux Year 1: Mrs Atkinson Year 2: Miss Jardine Year 3: Mrs Dimbylow Year 4: Mr White Year 5: Mrs Gatiss Year 6: Miss Jones Additionally, there are a few changes in the teaching assistant support in the classes to meet the needs of the children. These are being finalised and will be communicated by class teachers at the beginning of next year. We will be saying ‘goodbye’ to Mrs Matthias at the end of this year. After just a year with us, Mrs Matthias will be working more hours as a Primary mathematics Consultant in schools. On behalf of the school governors, I would like to thank her for all the work she has done this year in Year 2 and we wish her well. SCHOOL LUNCHES The school council have been recently talking to me about their views of the school lunches. Generally, they feel that children are very happy with the lunches, although they would like to ask the children what they think! The children will be asked their views shortly by the school council. From September, there will be different menus on offer for the children. Cheshire West and Chester Catering Services are encouraging children in the Borough to vote for their favourite menus. I would like to invite you and your children to take part in this consultation by going to the following link. The NUMBER 28 / SUMMER TERM 2015 / WEDNESDAY 3RD JUNE 2015

SCHOOL UNIFORMMrs Forster is about to place the final order for the term which will arrive before the Summer Holidays. If you would like to order anything ready for the new school year, please complete an order form and return it (with the payment) to the school office by Friday 12th June. Please note that parents of new Reception children are still able to place their orders following the New Starters welcome Evening on 16th June.

GALAThe PTA have been very busy preparing for the Gala Day which will be held on Saturday 13th June. As always, they are after some volunteers to help out on the schools stall - please contact the school office or Mette Miller directly (07901 682598) if you can help. Last year, we won the best stall and we would like to have another go at keeping the trophy - but we need your help!

The children have been practising hard to perform on stage. We will be also singing with Cuddington Primary School to bring the whole community together. For me, watching both schools singing together was a real highlight and I am looking forward to hearing them again.

The parade starts from the Library at 11.30am and is well worth following. I look forward to seeing you and your families during the day.

PARISH CAR PARKWe have had two representatives from the Parish Council monitoring the use of the car park to ensure that it remains safe for our children. They agree that it continues to be an asset to the community and our school. I would like to remind parents not to use the drop-off zone for parking, to respect the disabled parking spaces and to reverse into parking bays to make it safer to leave the car park.

DATES FOR THE REST OF THE TERMWe would be grateful if you could make a note of the following dates for the rest of the summer term:
